|Minimum Stay||3 nights|
The home is a charming early Twentieth century Craftsman (circa 1915) that has a usable front porch with seating and and spacious back yard area complete with a gas grill, shaded patio seating and herb garden (Mint, Chives, Basil,Thyme, Savory). Part of the joy of not staying in a hotel is doing your own cooking (for some people at least). An amazing Sunday farmers' market 4 blocks away in Hillcrest, grocery shopping (Trader Joe's, Ralph's, Sprouts market) are all within walking or biking distance. But when you are not interested in cooking, there are several great restaurants just 2 blocks away!
Each of the two bedrooms has its own queen bed. There is a pull out couch/ futon in the living room as well as an available portable single bed if necessary.
A gas assisted fireplace in the living room provides a little extra warmth and coziness for when the temperatures drop in San Diego (Yes, the temps do drop here on occasion) . An AC unit and a whole house fan allows guests to keep cool when the weather heats up.
We also have the home outfitted with a flat screen LCD TV with cable TV programming as well as Netflix, MLB.Com (provides all MLB games for baseball fans) and many other Roku channels in addition to an included WiFi network for internet access for our guests.
When you are ready to fire up the gas grill, it will be ready and waiting.
For any tiny vacationers, we have a pac-n-play, infant tub, highchair and toys.
We are proud to feature original art throughout the house from a local artist.
You can be assured that we will strive to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. Thanks for looking.
Our family purchased the home as an investment in 2009. We recently decided to remodel the home and turn it into a vacation rental. The location is perfect for out-of-towners in love with (or ready to fall in love with) San Diego. We certainly have enjoyed living in SD both when we were young and single, then as a dating couple, and now raising our kids here.
David purchased this house in 2009

We found this house to have EVERYTHING you could possibly need. Great neighborhood location for our family to spend 5 days visiting SD. They have baby accessories too! A crib, booster seats, toys, etc. for our grandchild. I will definitely come back here next year.
My family (2 adults, 3 kids) spent 5 days here, and we loved it. The house is beautiful in a quiet neighborhood, and was extremely comfortable and well-stocked by the owners with everything we could possibly need. It was perfectly positioned for Balboa Park, the Zoo, and an easy drive to the beaches. Very relaxing overall. I highly recommend it.
We loved staying in a local neighborhood. Easy access to highway and always nice to come back to a real house. Comfortable, lean and a fantastic back patio.
My wife and I spent a month in this beautiful University Heights Classic Craftsman Home. The Campus Avenue house was perfectly situated in a quiet, safe neighborhood. The house was clean, comfortable, and perfect for our needs. The front porch was used daily and the enclosed back yard and patio were perfect for relaxing, reading, and using the barbecue. This home is within a few blocks of very good restaurants and shopping and we especially enjoyed going to the nearby Sunday Farmers' Market. Balboa Park is also a comfortable walk; something we took advantage of daily. I would recommend this home for anyone spending time in San Diego; it was a perfect home base for exploring the city and the surrounding region. We are planning to spend another month or more there next year. David, the owner, could not have been more accommodating.
My wife and I stayed for a week in October 2014. The location is one of the key benefits. About 15 mins drive from the airport with probably most of the tourist attractions in San Diego not much further. Balboa Park a 5 min drive and also easy to get out of the city for more distant attractions. We loved Coronado, La Jolla and Torrey Pines State Beach/Reserve (great hiking at both). For something different try Julian a quaint mountain town with great stores and restaurants 1.5 hours away. After your excursions you have convenience stores, liquour store, coffee shop and several restaurants an easy, level 5 min walk from the house. Full size supermarkets a 5 min drive away. Neibourhood very friendly to. The house is clean, tidy and well appointed but remember it is maybe 100 years old so is not ultra modern but definately quaint. Having said that we loved it and did not want for anything except maybe a dishwasher. The front porch is neat and great for watching the world go by over breakfast coffeee or sundowners. The owner was a pleasure to deal with and booking from overseas easy. Would stay again and wish we had stayed for 2 weeks! Thanks David.
This was a perfect place for the three of us to stay! Great little house, loved sitting on the front porch when we had free time. It was located right in the heart of where we wanted to be. We had friends in Normal heights, party to go to in North Park, visited Balboa Park and then hung out down town. Would stay here again.
University Heights is a neighborhood located in Central San Diego. It is adjacent to the neighborhoods of Hillcrest and North Park. There are a number of restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques and other eclectic businesses within walking distance of our home. University Heights is centrally located and allows visitors to explore the San Diego Zoo and Balboa Park to the immediate South. The larger commercial district of Mission Valley sits in the valley below University Heights and the beaches (Ocean and Mission) are a short 15 minute jaunt to the west. Downtown San Diego and all it has to offer, is a short ten minute drive to the Southwest.
