FAR ABOVE EXPECTATIONS!

  • 5 of 5
We stayed in the Ca der Forn house in June 2014, along with our son and his wife. Four wonderful days! The house has everything you could possibly need: immaculately clean; modern bathrooms and bedrooms; kitchen perfectly stocked with dishes, flatware, glasses, spices and staples for those who want to cook. The house sits on a ridge with sweeping views both North and south over slopeps covered with vineyards with villages and mountains in the distance.
Giovanna is a wonderful host! Prior to our visit she asked us what we wanted to do in the region, then suggested places and offered to make reservations. I was a bit skeptical at first since we like to discover places on our own, but accepted her offer. Her suggestions were perfect! We sampled local restaurants of all levels, from simple local trattorias to an elegant formal restaurant. She arranged visits to small wineries, some less than 500 cases per year, where we tasted the wines with the winemakers. Based on our descriptions of what we wanted to see, she helped us know which villages to visit, and even what days they had their local markets. There would have been no way that we could have been so immersed in this wonderful region without her help.
We ordered breakfast for the first day of our visit and the food lasted us for three mornings! It included homemade bread, pastries and preserves as well as local cheeses, coffee, tea, etc.
Giovanna knows the perfect balance between being available when needed, and staying away to let her guests explore and enjoy.
I don't have enough superlatives to do this visit justice. This was clearly the highlight of our vacation which included Germany, Cinque Terre, Piemonte and the Rhone valley. If you visit the Langhe region and want to stay in the country rather than in a town, you cannot do better than to stay with Giovanna.

Owner's Response: Many thanks dear guests, thank you for writing what you experienced, it's a nice reward for my efforts and for our area!
Sometimes I realize that my offers organizational support to the future living are viewed with suspicion but my commitment has one goal: to help guests to experience a special holiday, meaning "to experience the beauty of the Langhe" in several respects: landscapes, typical architectural and cultural production of wines and meeting with those who produce them, culinary traditions and delicious food ...
It will be a pleasure to see you and help you (if you wish) to discover many other things, I'll be waiting.

FOUR ADULTS AND TWO KIDS IN PIEMONTE

  • 5 of 5
I can definitely recommend Cascina Brischetto, just out of the town of Nieve in Piemonte. Having travelled through this region several times before, we were very happy with this location, easy drive to towns of Nieve and Barbaresco and the promoted 360 degree views were certainly fantastic. We found Giovanna to be helpful and friendly, and the house to be spacious, very clean and generously fitted out with everything we needed (even proper sized wine glasses, which are very rare in holiday accommodation!). Our 3 year old and 6 year old were very happy with the swings, grassed area and basic sandpit, equipt with toys and we found the accommodation very child friendly. A typical switchback road up to the villa made us feel like we were truly in the Italian countryside, and the generous fruit and vegetables available (including heavily laden fig tree, yum!) allowed us to indulge in the local produce. No complaints, would definitely visit again, both this region and Giovanna's great house. Thanks!

GREAT APARTMENT, STUNNING SETTING, HELPFUL HOSTESS

  • 5 of 5
We were two couples and spent five nights here at the end of May. The description of the property was accurate, the photos don't do the apartment and the scenery justice (it's even better), and it was spotless.

The apartment itself was spacious, very comfortable and well appointed. It was a fine place to relax in the morning and before and after dinner. The panoramic views of the Alps and countryside were stunning.

Giovanna was a wonderful hostess. She had suggestions for dinners and made reservations for us - she knew almost all the restaurants within a reasonable drive. We were looking for places serving local fare with good wine lists, and we were quite pleased with her choices. She also set up tastings for us at a winery in Barolo and one in Barbaresco, and based on our experiences there, I wouldn't hesitate to have her set one up for every day.

Her recommendations for scenic towns and castles were also spot on. One thing about the Langhe region is that often there are not a lot of east-west roads, so to get from one place to another requires traveling north or south a ways, through beautiful countryside, darn - bring your cameras! We came upon some of the most beautiful views when we got temporarily lost.

The home is a great place to get away and let the everyday stresses slip away. I highly recommend it, would stay there again, and hope to return.

GREAT HOLLIDAY IN PIEMONTE

  • 5 of 5
Our grown up family of six persons spent five wonderful days at Cascina Brichetto in mid-July 2012. Even though we had looking on the photos on the net we was totally surprised of the breathtaking views over the landscape of Piemonte that was hitting us when reaching the end of the dead end road at the top of the hill.
The house was well in line with the best expectations, clean and well equipped (you can serve a dry martini in proper glasses), and we cooked our 3-course dinner meals several nights without missing anything in the kitchen.
The remote sounds of farmers taking care of their vineyards, the views of even more remote snowy mountains and the astonishing scene of the Milky Way at the nights completed our experience of the stay to be something very special.
Last, but not the least, we where spoiled by Giovanna´s open and friendly way to make us feeling home and find “the best of” among all the attractions, restaurants and other things.
All together, spending some days at Cascina Brichetto gave us one of our most unforgettable vacations and we will send our greetings to Giovanna for the relaxed and friendly hospitality.

Owner's Response: Your description makes me happy, it took a Swede to describe the beauty of our landscape and the emotions that it can create, thank you very much!
Thank you also for how you clean the barbecue grill (I was never able to do so well) and tools left as a gift. About BBQ ... our host has prepared (almost every night) just off the covered terrace barbecue, it was a real pleasure for my eyes to see the skill and colors of foods (assorted vegetables, sausage and meat homegrown) on the grid, I guess dinner on the covered terrace by candlelight and were accompanied by our wines and have facilitated the observation of the sky.
Thank you again.

A FANTASTIC FIND

  • 5 of 5
Giovanna was a great hostess who looked after all of our needs whether it was a recommendation for a market or reservation at one of the many fantastic restaurants she knows of. The house, while somewhat remote, is close enough to drive to several quaint villages in less than half an hour. You can be on a main highway in less than 20 minutes. The house is beautifully decorated and well appointed and very clean! Her kitchen is fun to cook in and is well stocked with the basics. We loved the views of the surrounding vinyards and glimpses of the mountains on clear days. A great place for people wanting to be off the beaten track and appreciate the wonderful countryside.

Owner's Response: Reading I thought: "In fact Cascina Bricchetto Langhe is a special place for special people" like you! I believe it will soon become a presentation ...
Some clarification on the location: the house was at the peak of a hill, the nearest house occupied is about 800 meters, the nearest shops including pharmacy are in the countries of Mango (about 4 Km) located on the crest of the hills and Neive (about 5 km) located in the plane.
I really hope in your return, I will prepare for you a special Cooking Class!

AN ELEGANT STAY IN THE RUSTIC PIEMONTE COUTRYSIDE

  • 5 of 5
My husband and our four children are living in Italy for the year. As such, we have travelled all over northern Italy, and stayed in many, many, lovely places. The was the best.

First, the house sits quietly on a green hill, a top a winery, and looks unassuming from the front. Inside, everything is spotless, comfortable, warm, and beautiful. The kitchen is perfectly set-up [and more], with ample room for the six of us. A highchair was graciously provided at no extra cost.

The bedrooms all have stunning views, comfortable beds, pretty sheets, and quality furniture. Bathrooms are spotless and equipt with the essentials.

If you choose to take breakfast -- and I recommend that you do -- you are provided with a variety of local cuisine, all top-quality and delicious. If you are lucky, Giovanna will make a breakfast cake, as she did for us.

The location is wonderful for those looking for an off-the-path place, delicious food, and wine tours. We were there for the Alba truffle festival, and found the city and the festival to be worth a visit .. even with small children.

The kids loved out stay, too: the outside space is set-up perfectly for children, and many toys are provided for us.

Finally, and importantly, Giovanna is reason enough to go and seek out this place. She is warm, lovely, kind and sincere, and the love of her place and the land is felt all around. It is vacation place as much about the feeling you will get from staying there, as it is for the beautiful house and its contents.

Highly recommended. We will return.

I love this land is In fact both the Cascina Bricchetto, I try to involve the guests who like it in this particular world and the feelings that I feel, I think in this way that these people will "bring home" something more personal and authentic emotions .

You and your wonderful children you have given joy during their stay and left a beautiful and special memories. I promise I will prepare more good cakes and even bisquits if you return!

Obviously need to make an appointment.
