This property couldn’t be more central allowing you to explore Amsterdam’s historic centre by foot, bike or public transport. It’s on a quiet street in the “Western Islands”, 10-15 minutes walk from Amsterdam Centraal station and even quicker by bus or by bike. Tram line 3 stops by our door (this takes you straight to museumquarter). Parking in the street is possible but very expensive, if necessary you better leave your car at one of the ‘park and ride’ places.
Our local shops are on the Haarlemmerdijk, voted two years in a row “Best Shopping Street in Holland”. If you need to relax in the park, Westerpark is 5 minutes walk away with all its amenities. We are just on the edge of “De Jordaan” area with its mix of small streets, markets, bars and restaurants.
This is our family home, that we are renting out during spring- and summertime while we are in our gardenhouse or on vacation, so please look after our house and respect our personal belongings as if it were your own place.
Our personal belongings will be in the house but it will be clean and tidy. House suits couples or (2) families, no (stag)parties.
- children welcome
- non smoking only
- pets considered
- wheelchair inaccessible
About Brigitte de Langen
We are Jim (scottish) & Brigitte (dutch) and live with our 2 daughters (8 and 11) very happily in the center of Amsterdam.
We like traveling and have been house exchanging many times, while we on holiday (camping, visiting scotland...) or when we are in our garden house (5 minutes from our house) we give you the opportunity to enjoy our place.
Brigitte de Langen purchased this apartment in 1998
Why Brigitte de Langen chose Jordaan
We bought this place (the complete warehouse build in 1904) in 1999 with 12 other parties and began the enormous adventure of rebuilding the place together. It was a very high risk, but we are glad we did it, we have a unique place (built up from scratch inside) and a very strong bond with our neighbors, as 'we did it together'
What makes this apartment unique
The light is beautifull, the high ceilings give you the 'roomy' feeling, it has an industrial look (it is the first 'poured concrete' building in Amsterdam and you will see the wooden casks prints at the ceiling). The house is very very quiet. With the backdoors open, or sitting at the balcony all you hear is birds and an occasional boat passing. And if you go out and walk 5 minutes you find all the liveliness Amsterdam has to offer you.
