|Minimum Stay||2 nights|
Short term rental available. 2 Bedrooms, 1 bath cute bungalow with decks among the ferns & redwoods. This is a great way to be revitalized. Fully furnished.
I have spent most of my life coming up here to the redwoods. My family has had many great times entertaining friends. I wanted to share this with other people who would enjoy getting away, relaxing and just enjoy being with these magnificent trees.
Sandi purchased this bungalow in 1959
This is a very special place. My father built this home himself using reused materials from a government housing project. He was ahead of his time.
Just getting away to turn the world off and it is not far from San Francisco (1 hr & 40 min.)
I have been to this house 2 times now and will continue to visit. The house has all the relaxing items I need for my escape from the hustle and bustle of the San Jose busy life. I have been here alone to relax and with my family. I love this house. I love the view of the fireplace while I cook a great meal and enjoy the view of the large redwoods outside the windows. The pictures on the site do not do this place justice. I truly love everything about this location and the home. Sandi has done a great job of keeping the place cozy in the cool nights and cool in the summer.
My son is six and loves to play in the front street with a football or soccer (there is no traffic to worry about here). There is a creek to look for rocks, bugs and deer tracks. He loves the quiet there too, except when the wifi doesn't play his movies fast enough :)
It is close enough to head to the beach and see the ocean, or we headed to the Fishermans Festival for the weekend in Jenner. In the summer you can attend the famers market on Friday nights in Occidental, but our favorite is clearly Raymonds pizza on Friday nights. Yes they have pastries and coffee in the mornings you can walk to, but Friday nights you can bring the kids for a walk and enjoy the whole town for some fun music, dancing, wine and pizza. It is a great town and the people are amazing to be around.
We will be back and are thankful for the experience in Sandi's little tiny escape. Thanks again and can't wait to return.
*only draw back is there are several stairs. if you have bad knees it maybe hard to get up to the house.
My friend and I were looking for a relaxing spot to "unplug" and kick back for a weeks vacation. Sandi's bungalow was that and so much more! As soon as we walked in the door we knew we had made the right choice. The house is charming, cozy and very comfortable. There has been so much thought into making the house a great holiday escape. It is situated perfectly in the Redwoods and though there are other cabins in the area, it was completely private quiet and peaceful.
There is a fantastic private deck for outdoor dining and a beautiful huge picture window in the main room that made it hard to get off the couch! The home is very well equipped with everything you need to cook, be entertained or relax with a book in front of the fireplace.
Although nestled in the woods, there are some great destinations within easy driving distance for a great day trip. Each day we ventured out in a different direction and really enjoyed the Pacific Coast, many charming little towns, lots of great wineries, restaurants and of course the beautiful scenery.
We had such a lovely time in Sandi's bungalow, we totally relaxed and made some great memories. Thank you Sandi :)
This is the third time we've rented this place, each time for 2-5 days. This stay was great as expected. This was my parents and I. My favorite part was taking naps on the porch during the day.
Perfect location and totally peaceful. The place is far enough from everything to feel removed but close enough to take some nice day trips to the coast or short trips to Guerneville. Everything you need is there and the deck is an absolutely perfect place to sit in awe of the redwoods. Raymond's Bakery is just down the dirt road from the house (a short walk) and the pizza and music Friday evenings there are perfect. Glad we could make it work!
My husband and I chose Sandi's wonderful family cottage in Cazadero for an anniversary weekend getaway. Sandi was so helpful and easy-going as we set up the reservation; she answered all of our questions and made us feel at home before we arrived. We arrived at night and didn't have a clear sense of the place until morning, but waking up with those gorgeous trees through the picture windows is so special.
This place is special -- you feel the family history in the place, even as they do a nice job of not making you feel like you're invading someone' sprite space. Lovely furnishings, high ceilings, lots of light fill the main kitchen/living area.I couldn't think of a single item I'd want in a kitchen that wasn't there; we ate at the nice counter as well as outside on the deck. The deck was perfect for a day of catching up on reading under a canopy of trees, sneaking peeks at the creek, snoozing, then going for walks on Austin Creek.
The drought has left the creek in a sort of sad, much reduced condition with lots of algae, but I still loved walking the banks, looking for heart shaped rocks and just taking in the serenity of this area. We did go to Raymonds one morning (excellent) and drove into Cazadero to pick up an item or two at the General Store. Easy drive back to Russian River for some time on the banks, but we wanted to go back soon enough.
What else? We appreciated the wifi for nighttime movies, the toiletries, the cozy bedding, the supplied presto logs for the fire, and all of those games for families in the bedroom cabinet. Upgraded kitchen/bathroom are very nice and bedrooms are sweet in decor. Our only issue, minor or perhaps not a problem for others, is the beds are doubles (if you're used to a King, it is quite an adjustment!) Oh, and one bedroom needed a more stable shade for privacy on the window. Otherwise, fantastic. We can't wait to come back some time, hopefully when the creek is flowing a bit more. Oh, turn on the little white lights on the deck at night, it adds to the charm. Thanks Sandi!
The perfect cure for frazzled city nerves is a weekend at Sandi's cabin. Cazadero is a special place already, but this cabin really makes the experience so much greater. My travel companion and I had such a wonderful time cooking, going on walks, and lazily making our way through a bottle of red on the beautiful deck. Sandi was so kind and easy to coordinate with, and it was a real privilege to get to share the experience of her family retreat. I will most certainly be back!
