Little Gasparilla Island is a wonderful hidden paradise off the beaten path accessible only by private boat or water taxi. There are no bridges or formal paved roads on the island, just charming romantic sand paths where the local residents travel by foot or by golf cart. Little Gasparilla Island is one of the barrier islands along Florida's southeast coast located just north of Boca Grande and about 20 miles north of Sanibel Island off Ft. Myers. It is less than 40 miles south of Sarasota. There are over 7 miles of pristine beach accessible along the Gulf of Mexico available for your pleasure, starting just a few hundred feet from the house. This provides wonderful romantic getaway walks for many couples and endless shelling opportunities for others.
I was born, raised and educated in Florida but I've traveled the world extensively. My dream home is on Little Gasparilla Island and I want to share this dream with others.

It's easily one of the most charming places I've ever been and I want to share this with others by renting it to like minded people. I have traveled the world extensively but I find Little Gasparilla Island to be one of the best places I've ever been to. I continue to cherish it as I would an old friend. My renters thus far seem to agree.
The location is incredible and for real estate that is what it is usually all about. The property is on the Bay for safety but only a few yards from the beautiful Gulf. Fantastic fishing abounds here as does the beautiful white Gulf sands. Boca Grande, Sarasota, Ft. Myers
We had a wonderful week at Jena se qua Kismet but it was not the incredible fishing or superb beautiful beaches or the boating to exotic nearby locations that we enjoyed...Because it rained 6 out of the 7 days we were there!!! Yet, it was nevertheless wonderful and relaxing with our whole family due to the Giant HD Flat screen in the living room, (and a TV in every bedroom), that saved us!!! We overdosed on CD's, Movies and Shows to our hearts content. We cooked too much in the fully equipped modern kitchen - but that we wrote off as a side effect to the rain. Our family laughed together and ate together and enjoyed each other as never before! Thank you Jena se qua!
I have seldom done a review but I feel compelled this time to pass on the good word to others that might be struggling with their decision to rent an unknown property for the first time far from home. Jena se qua kismet on Little Gasparilla Island, a thin, beautiful, barrier island is everything as advertised and more…! You can’t go wrong.
The Owner was fantastic and eager to help at every turn. She was very responsive to every question we had as well as very knowledgeable about the area. I feel that I’ve made a lifelong friend.
We found the home very clean, well-organized and functionally complete with TV, Music, a fully equipped kitchen, coffee maker, pots & pans, etc.
The fire pit off the dock/deck with its comfortable lounge chairs was a big hit for our entire family and we dined every night at the end of the dock in the picnic table provided for us there.
My husband loved the fish cleaning table and we caught fish every day in the bountiful waters.
The home was charming and fully lived up to its name as a “Romantic Get-a-way.”
If we had to do it over again we would have rented a golf cart to tour the entire island, but this is not needed to make the short walk across to white sandy beach on the Gulf side.
The only issues we had which were minor and quickly taken care of by the owner during our stay, were that the snook lights were not working at the end of the dock, and the air in the tires for the boat dock-to-cottage baggage cart were too soft to use at arrival time, but the owner had new tires on for our departure. We love Jena se qua kismet and for sure…
We will be back!!!

Spent a "Girl's Weekend" on Little Gasparilla Island. It was so quiet and casual...very relaxing! We had dinner out on the dock at sunset....coffee on the front porch at sun-up listening to the birds sing and sounds of nature. The sunsets on the beach were absolutely spectacular....we took wine and cheese and watched the sun go down. I can't wait to go back this year!
“If you’re looking for a place to escape to that has class, charm, quietude, great weather and makes you feel like royalty, then come to, “Jena se qua kismet.” A place that’s unique yet somehow you know it’s meant for you!
It was so wonderful! I’m not sure I can express what it did for my soul or for my total psyche, but it worked, and I recommend it for everyone!
Little Gasparilla is a small island, a sliver of sand really, between the great Gulf and a sublimely protected flat water bay teaming with all manner of sea life. (A sportsman’s paradise.) There is less than 500 yards that separate the two waters. Little Gasparilla Island is a unique private community of beautiful get-a-way homes quaintly built upon white tropical sands where streets are really just sand paths for eager exploring feet and a few golf carts.
I walked around the island every day barefoot and carefree, and marveled at the variety of shells along the beach, the incredible views, the playful dolphins, the manatees, the diversity of birds, the warm touch of the sun and wind upon my face, and that oh so good feeling of sand between your toes.
I had my boat with me, but landed Snook and Redfish off the end of the dock. I ventured down to the town of Boca Grande for dinner one night, an easy cruise of only a few miles, and had a few drinks at the famous bar & restaurant on Cabbage Key, but mostly I stayed at “Jena se qua kismet,” and enjoyed its many charms. Dinners on the table at the end of the dock, campfires on the lower expanded dock/deck area, movies on the wide screen TV’s, and of course backgammon with wine on the Gulf beach every afternoon. – I’ll be back! Thank you, “Jena se qua kismet.”
This place was just what I needed. On an island that is very quiet and a bit isolated. I wanted to sit around and vegetate for a week and that's what I did. Having a boat would be a good idea but not necessary. Really it's good for just about anyone looking to relax!
This place lived up to it's description and then some. The fishing off the dock was amazing. The house was so comfortable and had everything you could possibly need. The beach was a quick walk away and fishing off your own dock was great. The only thing I would add would be a couple of life jackets and a kayak or something to paddle around the bay in. Overall it was a wonderful time and I hope we will be back soon.
What a wonderful vacation spot! Very relaxing and beautiful setting. Loved swinging on the front porch swing and drinking my morning coffee looking out at the beautiful water.
Very roomy and comfortable. Kitchen was wonderful to cook in and had every thing I needed to prepare wonderful meals.
Felt like I was at my own cozy home with all the comforts.
We will be back to this Gem to spend more time whenever possible!!
My partner said to be sure and add it is also nestled in the best fishing spot on the west coast of Florida !!!!
Marina's available by boat on mainland and other islands nearby as are many restaurants including nearby Boca Grande. Cayo Costa State Park and Don Pedro State Park are nearby significant attractions.
