We live in Manhattan, enjoying weekends and off season time at the beach house in Montauk.
Karen purchased this house in 2009
Why Karen chose Montauk
This home has been in my family since my aunt and uncle purchased it new in the mid 1960's as a weekend and vacation residence. The Leisurama homes, sometimes referred to as a 'Macy's' house, were showcased and purchased at Macy's stores in NYC and on Long Island. The houses were featured at the NY World's Fair in 1964 as representations of luxuries even working class Americans could afford for their family. Nixon and Kruschev's 'kitchen debate' took place over the original kitchen's design. I enjoy great memories of time spent here as a child, and am now creating more fun times with my own family.
What makes this house unique
Lovingly renovated, I sought to retain as much of the classic Leisurama details in the main living area, while refreshing the bedrooms and baths and adding 21st century technology and amenities. With great space for entertaining, a short walk to ocean beaches, or a quick bike ride to town, this house is perfect for a relaxing, low key vacation for friends, couples, or families.
