Our family lived full time in the house for 17 years. As our kids moved out, the house became too big for us. So we moved to a smaller house.
Crawford Lake is a quiet lake and a great size for water sports. The South end has no houses and reminds us of parts of Canada. It is very peaceful. The house was originally a two bedroom cabin. The previous owners added on and we double the size of the house. We worked on the house while we lived there and are still updating and remodeling each year as time allows.
On a quiet lake where you can relax. The busiest day is usually July 4th and there may be 5 to 10 boats on the lake at a time. Crawford Lake is centrally located with Traverse City, Torch Lake, Boyne City (Schuss Mtn.) and Shanty Creek all within a half an hour. The house is located about eight miles east of downtown Kalkaska. There are also many opportunities for Up North adventure, such as visiting Mackinac Island, Petoskey, Charlevoix, the Sleeping Bear Dunes, and Indian River (Canoeing, Tubing, ect.) all great day trips. For golfers there are three golf courses within three to eight miles. Also, Turtle Creek Casino is only 19 miles away.
