We owned a beautiful log cabin in the surrounding area before discovering this amazing mountain forrest property. It is a rare find to come across mountain property which has a combination of hills and level areas suitable for horses. The moment we walked the land we fell in love. Our family took delight in spending the next 2 years clearing the nearly 6 acres of underbrush and thinning the pines and cedar trees. In preparation of building the main house we decided to build the barn with a living area above which would serve as a guest house. After moving into the guest house we relished the cozy abode so much that we decided to forgo building the main house! We are confident you too will appreciate this gorgeous area.
Even after so many years, we still treasure the opportunity to watch the wildlife on the property. Several hundred feet below the property there is a meadow on the adjacent ranch which the Elk come out in the evenings to feed and play in the pond. The Owner of the Ranch is quite the conservationist and has planted hay fields solely for the benefit of the Deer and Elk.
This wonderfully diverse area offers hundreds of miles of ATV and snowmobile trails. The surrounding Parks have hiking trails which are some of the most stunning in the world. Guided Horse rides, ATV, and Snowmobiles rentals are available minutes away. Be sure to hike the deer trail in the deep woods on the hillside of the property! You'll find some gorgeous rock formations.
My husband and I brought our two black labs with us to the cabin with the intent to have a restful week of hiking and relaxation. Boy was The Barn the perfect getaway! We were welcomed by a flock of turkeys when we pulled in at dusk, which told us we'd picked the right location. This property was the ideal place to start our explorations of Bryce Canyon, Zion and Red Canyon national parks. Lots of beautiful scenery, animals, and a sky full of stars each night. Did I mention the hot tub? It made for a perfect way to soothe our muscles each night in anticipation of more hiking the next day.
The Barn is beautifully decorated, with a kitchen filled with the essentials. We liked Joe's Market in Panguitch for groceries, and there's a diner in the same community that serves a delicious burger! After grilling up dinner, the comfy couch and chairs were a perfect spot to hang out in front of the fireplace.
This was out first time using VRBO, and Bob made everything easy. He's a fantastic host, easy to get in touch with, and genuinely cares that your experience is as good as it can be.
I can't recommend this property more highly. If a secluded stay near the national parks sounds dreamy to you, The Barn makes a perfect base camp!!
My wife and I stayed here for 7 days and are so grateful to have found this amazing place. Our first trip to southwest Utah and the accommodations could not have been any better! We were located in the middle of Zion, Bryce Canyon and cedar breaks. The inside of the lodge-type house is pristine with all up to date appliances and a kitchen fully stocked with whatever you could possibly need: utensil, pots, pans, etc. We spent several evenings relaxing in the hot tub after a day of hiking/sightseeing. The elk put on a concert down in the canyon while the hummingbirds, turkey and deer all did their part to make our experience as close to "getting back to nature" as possible. We spent a couple of days forgoing the nearby parks and attractions just staying put in the serene environment of the lodge and it was as if we were 100's of mile from anyone (with the luxuries of satellite TV and cellular connection at our fingertips). There is a ton to do on the property- grilling, fire-pit under the unbelievably clear sky with the Milky Way directly overhead, darts, game table and more. The owner (Bob) was an absolute pleasure to work with, supplying us with local information a couple of weeks beforehand as well as checking in with us once we got settled in. The lodging was a memorable as the breath- taking scenery and we hope to stay here again in the future! Thanks so much-
My husband and I had a wonderfully relaxing week at the "Barn". We could have stayed at one of the lodges in the canyon or a hotel, but nothing would have given us the relaxation time we needed between our canyon visits than returning each evening to the "Barn". Serenely, each morning the deer smugly watch you as you leave their home, then in the evenings the turkey's, hummingbirds, rabbits, Elk and yes...deer again say, welcome to our home. Their curious eyes let us know they didn't mind us intruding into their world.
Be sure to take what you need to the top of Cedar Mountain....you really don't want to leave to see anything or see other people and you don't have to, if you go prepared. However, we did go to see the Canyons...and they are beautiful!...just a few minutes in any direction and you leave your slice of heaven to see another of God's beautiful artwork...great vacation if you need to totally relax.....
we had such an exceptional, serene experience at this gorgeous cabin for the weekend. It fit into every category of experiencing cabin life. Quiet, off by itself, gorgeous views….doesn't get much better ! Close to a store and the canyons for day trips. The bed was so comfortable as were the other furnishings, nice kitchen to cook in…great to sit out on the deck for coffee…and see the wild turkeys…also saw a huge buck deer wander across the drive...just an overall wonderful time exploring the grounds. Would definitively recommend to friends and family---thank--you !
We stayed at the barn/cabin from 6-13-14 to 6-20-14. Everything was amazing, from the view of the property, deers, turkeys, to the high end appliances. The bed was the best bed I've ever slept in. The hot tub was great after long hikes. This property is in the best location if you want to visit Zion and Bryce. It's about 35 mins from each. We also went to the Grand Canyon, which only took a little over 2 hours. We did the Grand Staircase and also the Lower Antalope Canyon in Page, AZ - a MUST see if you go. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars, was because of no Internet. I used my phone to tether to the computer for usage, and it was fine. We will definitely be back. Bob is really nice and everything you need or want is within the cabin - from backpacks to pot/pans, etc. We loved it there.....so peaceful and loved seeing deers every morning.
We just arrived home after a wonderful weekend at the barn. The upstairs area was perfect for the three of us while we were in the area checking out the national parks. We thoroughly enjoyed the feeling of isolation even though the neighbors aren't that far away. There was plenty of wildlife to watch, including more hummingbirds than I've seen in one place!
Evenings were spent in front of the fire, in the hot tub or star-gazing. There is no light pollution so the night sky is pretty spectacular when cloud cover is light. The barn has all the amenities that one would need. A full kitchen, fridge-freezer, washer and dryer, dishwasher, two bathrooms, lots of outdoor space and views.
My communication with the owner was also a delight. We never met but feel like I know him already. He was very helpful, friendly and accommodating and I would most definitely stay there again.
