Overview

Wainiha House Rental Photos and Description

2 Bedroom, 2 Bath With Mountain Views

'Kaiolohia' (kai o low he ah) means “peace of mind or calm sea,' and that's surely what you'll discover while staying in this newly remodeled home in Haena, a 5 minute stroll to world-famous Tunnels Beach on the north shore of Kauai. Hidden away from the world; in a lush, tropical setting, this charming traditional Hawaiian cedar-wood home is private and features a large covered lanai backing undeveloped (jungle) conservation land.

Kaiolohia Hale offers the perfect setting for your romantic getaway or extreme adventure. A short walk to Makua Beach (Tunnels), which is a long sandy beach with a protective outer reef for swimming and snorkeling among sea turtles and the endangered Hawaiian Monk seals. This beach has a spectacular view of Mt. Makana (Bali Hai); the famous backdrop for the classic movie South Pacific. Sailing, kayaking, surfing, windsurfing and seasonal whale watching are all close by. Limahuli Garden, Na Pali coast and Kalalau hiking trail (rated one of the top ten hikes in the world) are just a mile away.

Relax in our outdoor hot & cold shower after a day at the beach, hiking or just taking a reading break.

The quaint surf town of Hanalei has two farmers markets per week (Saturday morning & Tuesday afternoon), dozens of dining choices, shopping, surfboard, kayak & other water sports equipment rentals, lessons and tours available.

Sixteen years of returning guests endorses Kaiolohia Hale as the premier Kauai north shore rental destination.

Fabulous Kaiolohia House with the BEST hosts ever!!!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, myself and our two sons, ages 12 and 14 recently spent 2 glorious weeks at Kaiolohia House in beautiful Haena. We booked our stay based on all the great reviews and we were not disappointed. The home is spacious, character filled, and well appointed with everything you need for a fantastic stay. We spent every morning drinking coffee (the expensive but truly the best coffee beans are sold at the Hanalei Resort Art/Coffee shop down the road) on the back lanai (there's even a cappucino machine), listening to the birds, enjoying visits from 'cheeks'(the local rooster and his 'girls') as well as horses and cows wandering through the parkland that borders the back of the property. We visited local farmers' markets for the cheapest and best produce and enjoyed most of our meals at the house. Tunnels Beach, the most beautiful swimming and snorkelling beach on Kauai, was just a 5 minute walk away. Beach umbrellas, beach chairs, snorkel gear, water shoes, and coolers were all provided and well used by us during our stay. The outdoor shower was a fabulous and part of our daily routine after returning from the beach. This was our second trip to Kauai and our first staying in magical Haena and Kaiolohia House. Kim and Adam were the 'icing on our cake'. They were amazing! So friendly, accommodating, generous and kind...doing everything to make our stay more than perfect and definitely memorable! A special thank you to the two of you for your 'above and beyond' service;) We are so grateful to you two for treating us like family. We hope to be fortunate enough to stay in your beautiful rental home again in the future!

fantastic house

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week in this wonderful house. It was clean and comfortable, and both the kitchen and the bathrooms were well stocked. The furniture and beds were very comfortable, and the lanai in the rear was quiet and peaceful; it felt like sitting in a garden. The beach is great for walking or snorkelling, and what must be the world's best hiking is a couple of miles down the quiet residential road. The owners were very friendly but also unobtrusive, making sure we had everything we needed. Several weeks prior to our arrival they sent us a beautiful Kauai guidebook which really helped us plan ahead for the week. We certainly hope to come back and stay here again.

Outstanding Easter Break

  • 5 of 5

Adam and Kim were spectacular, from helping us bring in the luggage, to finding some aloe plants to nurse my daughter's sunburn (I won the parent of the year for that one). The property has a great deal of character, augmented by a magnificent table (seriously, it is that cool), spacious bedrooms, adequate storage, all the appliances you need, boogie boards, you name it. The price was unbeatable, as was the location. I've traveled throughout the Caribbean, Kauai, and the South Pacific, and this is the by far the best bang for the buck. The property was perfect for my two kids (on the sleeper sofa, which is outdated but doable for kids) and four adults. Thank you again Adam and Kim, we had a spectacular time and will indeed be back!

Everything perfect

  • 5 of 5

I would highly recommend this rental. the unit is very well maintained and very clean. The walk to Tunnels Beach is easy and convenient. For the price, there is nothing better. both Adam and Kim are very friendly and pay attention to even the smallest detail. We would stay here again.

A touch of paradise

  • 5 of 5

Kauai is the most beautiful place we have visited for many years and in my opinion this area of the north shore is the most attractive on the Island. The house hits the perfect balance of comfort, location and value. Adam and Kim are friendly and very helpful, providing everything you could possibly need to have a wonderful holiday.

We spent lots of time on Tunnels beach, snorkeling, swiming with turtles and chilling. We did a number of hikes and had an incredible helicopter tour of the island, which was simply stunning and well worth the expense.

We have some amazing memories and have already discussed plans to return as soon as we can.

Serene Oasis!!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a month at this beautiful oasis and had an amazing time! The kitchen is fully equipped and great beach equipment and bikes are provided. The short walk to the beach was filled with lovely flora/fauna and everything was in bloom. Tunnels and Ke'e beaches are both within walking distance and the winter waves were spectacular. We love the roosters on Kauai even though they crow at all hours. The back lanai was a special place for us; it is like a jungle and full of the most beautiful singing birds, with an occasional horse or cow from a neighboring farm. Adam and Kim were perfect hosts; we've already recommended this lovely home to our friends and hope to make it back next year!
