Rick and Dee Barnes moved away from St. Petersburg almost 25 years ago, and have talked about their time there ever since. In the time away their children have grown up, gone to college, gotten married and moved out. Knoxville is now their home base - meaning, it's where their mail gets held while they're everywhere else.
Rick Barnes purchased this condo in 2013
The St. Petersburg barrier island beaches are the best on the Gulf of Mexico - long, deep, and covered in beautiful, fine sand and streaming sunshine! The condo is in a resort-like property, with large swimming pool, hot tub, and clubhouse, and parking under the building.
So close to the beach! So close to the shops! So close to the restaurants! You don't need to spend too much time getting from or to, it's all all your doorstep at Boca Vista. All the fun shops and restaurants at John's Pass are within 1.5 miles. Two grocery stores within 0.5 miles. The grounds are lush and green, and have a beautiful, peaceful appearance.
Our family vacationed at this condo in August. First, I must say the owner's description and information were spot on. There was no need to contact the owner while we were there. You couldn't ask for a more simple process for "checking in" to the condo. The condo was clean and well maintained. As the other reviewers stated, access to the elevator and trash chute are within 10 feet of the front door making access easy. The garage parking was a nice amenity considering the afternoon thunderstorms that are typical in Florida during the summer. The atmosphere at the condo was very relaxed and quiet. It was a resort type feel without all of the hustle and bustle of a busy resort.
Now to the area...Madeira Beach is a small township. There are enough small shops and stores nearby (within walking distance) to take care of your daily needs, yet most any major chain store or restaurant can be travelled to within 30 minutes. If you are looking for familiar dining, it is there - or if you like to try local dining, those are plentiful as well. The public beaches are just a couple of blocks away. You can walk or drive there. There was always plenty of parking available and the beaches were never too crowded. I have always stayed at the more "touristy" beaches in the past and this was a welcomed deviation from the typical noise and crowds I had grown accustomed to.
Since this was more of a relaxation style vacation rather than a "keep our calendar full" vacation, we didn't seek many activities in the area. But one activity we thoroughly enjoyed was SUP or "stand up paddleboarding." There is a small shop on Madeira Way that gives guided tours and training as a part of the $35 fee, which is a great deal for 2 hours on the water and instruction.
In summary, you can't go wrong staying here. There are activities within reach for all ages and interests, yet it remains a quiet place. I hope to make another visit there in the future.
I highly recommend this condo. We came down to Madeira Beach for our family vacation this summer and had a wonderful time. It's convenient to so many attractions and destinations in Florida. We spent hours on Madeira Beach and Indian Shores Beach. Along with plenty of beach time, we also visited Clearwater Marina to see Winter the dolphin from "A Dolphin Tale". Our kids loved it. And because we were just 90 miles from Orlando, we also visited Sea World and Disney World and made some great memories. The condo was a terrific part of our vacation. It was close to several grocery stores and restaurants. Parking and the elevator made it convenient to get in and out quickly. When we weren't out at the beach we were swimming in the pool or relaxing in the hot tub. Amenities like the patio, televisions in each room, and kitchen also made our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The bathrooms were clean and well maintained. The master bedroom was large and spacious and the guest room had two beds which was nice. It was decorated with paintings of surrounding landmarks and towns which added to the comfortable and modern feel. The owners were fantastic to work with. Communication was clear and all of our questions were answered well in advance before we came. You won't be disappointed with this condo. It deserves 5 stars!
My wife and I had a wonderful time at this Boca Vista condo in Madeira Beach in late June and early July, just the two of us enjoying a relaxing and entertaining vacation. Even if we had a couple of children with us, it would have been great. The condo is very comfortable and quiet with accommodating furnishings. We really liked the king bed in the master bedroom. The elevator is less than ten feet from the front door making it easy to bring in groceries and luggage. Even the trash chute is only steps away from the door. The living room and dining room are very spacious; although, we were at the beach, exploring, or sitting on the patio so much that we didn't spend a lot of time on the couch! Kitchen appliances are in good order and the washer and dryer are excellent. Furniture is tasteful and comfortable. The patio is pleasant and covered and has motorized storm shutters that can be lowered completely or partially for shade or privacy; we enjoyed sitting there a couple of times during the typical Florida showers. The reserved garage parking is close to the entrance and the storage box in the parking area makes for easy storage of beach chairs, tents, umbrellas, boards, and other items that you don't need to take into the condo. The beach is only a couple of blocks from the condo with sidewalks and easy access. An Amish ice cream shop is on the way and ice cream is a great way to finish a day at the beach. Madeira Beach and adjoining Treasure Island are fun with good food - oh, that shrimp and grouper - and not a lot of loud partying. No need for older folks to feel out of place or intimidated by a rowdy young crowd. Yet, the young crowd would have fun with the gathering places. We took a drive up to Clearwater Beach and down to St. Pete Beach and probably liked the mix of restaurants, condos, and shops at Madeira Beach best. John's Pass is a fun place for food and shopping and isn't far south of the condo, maybe ten blocks. We also drove to Fort De Soto Park in for a great time on Independence Day. Speaking of the fourth, we enjoyed a thrilling fireworks show from the patio of our condo. Across the causeway from the condo, about a quarter mile, is a Publix supermarket and there is convenient access to the usual fast food, drugstores, and shopping. There is also lots of attractions in the Tampa/St. Petersburg area. We highly recommend this condo; it met our expectations and we left relaxed, but with a touch of sadness for having to leave.
Just a block from the Gulf of Mexico and the beautiful white-sand public facilities at Madeira Beach. 90 minutes from Disneyworld, Universal Studios, and Sea World Orlando. 45 minutes from Busch Gardens amusement park. You can do it all, or you can just chill by the pool, use the hot tub, or spend your day on the beach just minutes from the condo.
