Overview

Downtown - Washington DC Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Junior 1 Bedroom Apt / Sleeps 3

Newly renovated, junior 1 bedroom English basement apartment, with 4 full-size windows, offers plenty of natural light. Sleeps 3 adults with a queen bed and twin sofa bed. You'll have a comfortable night's sleep with 500 thread count sheets and tempurpedic pillows. Full bathroom with bathtub and shower. Washer and dryer in unit. Full-size kitchen appliances include refrigerator, stove, oven, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, toaster and iron. Kitchen has granite countertops and is fully furnished with plates, glasses, cookware, utensils, etc. The apartment has all the conveniences of home. For travelers with small children, a highchair and Pack n' Play are available upon request.

The apartment is located just north of downtown, near 2 yellow/green line metro stops—just 3 blocks from Howard University/Shaw metro stop and 4 blocks from the Mt Vernon/Convention Center metro stop. Reagan National Airport is also located on the yellow line, so the commute from the airport is very easy. Washington DC is a very walkable city with good public transportation. You won't need a car while you are here. If you are traveling with a car, there is plenty of street parking available. Street parking is locally zoned, but we will arrange for you to have a parking pass for a $25 fee.

We are walking distance to vibrant nightlife, like the U street corridor, Logan Circle and Chinatown/Gallery Place. Only 3 metro stops to the National Mall and all of the historic monuments. Lots of restaurants within walking distances.

For extended stays, we will have the apartment cleaned weekly for an additional $50. Nightly rate does not include the Washington DC lodging tax of 14.5%.

We live upstairs and are happy to answer any questions or make recommendations. The apartment has a separate alley entrance, and you will have complete privacy.

About Greg Sitzmann

We moved to DC together in 2005, the year we were married. It was going to be a short-term stay, and here we are eight years later. We absolutely love our city.

Greg Sitzmann purchased this apartment in 2012

Why Greg Sitzmann chose Downtown - Washington DC

The nice thing about the English basement apartment is that it's only a couple steps below ground. So it really feels more like a first-floor space. The ceilings are high. And the four tall windows let in plenty of natural light.

What makes this apartment unique

Our neighborhood, Shaw, is also called Old City. It has a great neighborhood vibe. Subway stops are convenient. But if you like to walk, it's a beautiful city to see on foot.

This little studio style apartment is perfect. Modern decor and all the amenities. Pots, pans, coffee maker, coffee, washer dryer and everything in between. Owners were great to work with. Location is close to the subway system, local grocery and several great restaurants also pepper the neighborhood.

Great location

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay very much. The owners were always promptly responsive by e-mail or phone. Even though it is a small basement apartment, it has lots of light, was clean & in a great location for exploring other neighborhoods on foot or by METRO as well as the main DC sights. Appreciated the thoughtfulness of providing the METRO cards & discount grocery card for nearby GIANT, as well as the list of some neighborhood restaurants. Our one suggestion for the kitchen would be to add a teakettle. We definitely hope to return on a future trip.

DC in April 2015

Property was as described. A cute little apartment close to everything. Apartment was clean and up to date. Had great communication with owner. When needed. From this location we never needed transportation. From Marion Apartment, we were able to walk to Nationals Park, Georgetown, National Mall, and the National Zoo in 3 days! Would definitely stay here again.

What a nice surprise to walk into this small but comfortable apartment. We were impressed with the quality of the appliances and the granite countertops. The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of windows. We took the Metro to many sites throughout the city but preferred to walk to the Mall because it leads right through Chinatown as we would have an early lunch before visiting museums and historic sites. The neighborhood itself is ethnically diverse with a great blend of restaurants and shops. In the evening we enjoyed sitting at our favorite restaurant (Beau-Thai-only 1 block away) and watch the streets come alive with bicyclists and people walking there dogs. Safety on the streets in this area seems to be a non issue and we at no time felt uncomfortable. Greg and his wife were very accommodating and will see to it that you your stay is memorable and relaxing. We hope to be back in the future.
