Welcome to my spacious 3+ bedroom Victorian home in the heart of Alexandria Bay. My home is pet friendly, is around 109 years old and still retains some of its 'vintage' charm. It is available from June through mid October. My home is in a very convenient location. It is easy to enjoy all of the village amenities from the privacy of my centrally located property. Enjoy people watching on the enclosed front porch, or if you prefer, relax in the spacious and private fenced in backyard.
On the first floor, there is a kitchen with all appliances and kitchen necessities. All you need is your food. Additionally, the first floor has ac adjusted to your liking and includes a dining room, living room, lounge, full bathroom and laundry room. Direct TV is available in the kitchen and living room as well as 2 of the bedrooms upstairs. A DVD player and wireless internet are also available to you for added convenience. The sofa in the livingroom also pulls out in to a queen bed if you need additional sleeping arrangements.
On the second floor, there is another full bath with a claw tub/shower. 3 bedrooms are available including 1 queen and 2 full beds. Individual air conditioners are in each bedroom for your comfort. Bed linens, pillows, blankets, and towels are provided.
My home has a large enough driveway to accommodate a number of vehicles including motorcycles, your boat, or your jet ski. The public boat launch is around the corner and EVERYTHING is within easy walking distance. In minutes you can walk to the River, the village beach, Uncle Sam Boat Tours, restaurants, bars, shops and marinas.
This is a great opportunity to 'Getaway' and enjoy the Thousand Islands and all it offers whether you're a family or you combine resources and are 2-3 couples, or a group of friends wanting to share the space vacationing together. This is also home to two goldendoodles, named Ruby and Doogan. They won't be here when you visit, but would welcome any canine friends to hold down the fort for them while they are away. My home is pet friendly. Please let me know if you intend to bring your dog(s) upon your visit.
I am a teacher in the area and live in this house when it is not being rented. This big house is home to me and my two 'Doods', Ruby and Doogan. I used my home as a vacation rental during tourist season for the first time in 2013. It was a great experience so I decided to continue this year.
Heather Lavarnway purchased this house in 2003
For people who are looking for a vacation rental vs a hotel, my home is a great bang for your buck especially if you are traveling with others who help split the cost. The River and the Bay scene are a quick walk. ---very convenient. My home is cozy and welcoming and has plenty of room to relax in. It is also a great option for you if you like to travel with your dog(s).
This was our first time in the Thousand Islands and it was a great trip. We loved the town, the weather was good for the most part, lots to do, good food, good music, and most of all the location of our rental from Heather was ideal. She was a perfect host leaving the place fresh and clean and even leaving a bottle of wine and a few other delectable treats. Thank you Heather.
My wife and I normally stay near Clayton when visiting the Thousand Islands area, but an inability to schedule our trip in advance found us unable to book our usual accomodations. Luckily we were able to go on the VRBO site and find a place in Alexandria Bay.
We arrived with some concern, as we had never stayed in a vacation home rental before and didn't know what to expect. We were extremely pleased with our decision.
The owner went above and beyond what was expected to make our stay a pleasant one. A bottle of wine on the kitchen table along with some other snacks and a nice detailed note with explained several points of interest for the property and the surrounding area.
The home was a wonderfully maintained Victorian style with two floors. The rooms were all very spacious, and updated with many amenities. Although there is not central air, we found that the window units did a great job at keeping both the main level and upstairs bedrooms cool and comfortable.
There was no need to bring anything except our clothes as everything else was provided to include linens and towels. There was also a washer and dryer available to clean our clothes if necessary, but like most vacationing families we had packed more than we could possibly wear during the week so there was no need to do laundry.
The backyard was a great plus for us as it was completely fenced in and gave us the ability to let our dogs out without having to put them on a leash. Additionally there was a nice patio area with a table and chairs and two loungers. Came in very handy when watching the dogs in the yard.
In addition, we also enjoyed the location of the home. It was only a few blocks from downtown and gave us a nice walk to go through the shops and enjoy the local restaurants. Being Pirates Week, parking was at a premium downtown so it was extremely nice to be able to just walk downtown whenever we pleased.
This is a fantastic place to spend a vacation and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to stay in the area.
Owner is thoughtful and welcoming! We have a 4 year old and it was a short walk to everything. Dog allergies and the owner made sure everything was cleaned well. No problem with allergies. Her home is cozy and comfortable. Wish we had time to stay longer.
This rental was as advertised. We especially appreciated the Pet Friendly option. The owner is super and we will rent again.
We celebrated in Alex Bay for a special birthday. This house is in a perfect location. A very easy walk to the downtown shops, marina, boat tours and restaurants. The house is spacious and decorated nicely. We took our dog with us and it was perfect because of the fenced in yard and nice back patio. The owner is welcoming, easy to work with and cares about their guests. We left clothes in one of the drawers and when contacted, they happily mailed them back to us. Was a really fun weekend!
A perfect vacation, just what my family and I were looking for!. Our accommodations were lovely, it truly felt like "home away from home". Heather was very kind and went well above making our stay enjoyable. How nice to walk into a home with fresh cut flowers, a bottle of wine and bowl of chocolates on the kitchen table. What a grand entrance!!! Our dog enjoyed herself as well. Heather keeps her home very nice, clean, fresh and very welcoming. It's in a prime location. Once you park your car, you really don't need to take it out of the driveway at all. However, if you want to go to a nice place for dinner, it's about a ten minute drive to Clayton, I highly recommend The Clipper. Delicious and GREAT desserts!!! It's worth taking your car out of the driveway. There's lots to do or nothing to do at all if you prefer to have it that way. I would go back in a minute if only I didn't have to report back to work on Monday morning!!! Highly recommend.
