|Minimum Stay||5 nights|
Panoramic lake view setting. Our two bedroom basement suite is located on the Naramata Bench wine route.
We stayed for 5 nights and had a fabulous time. Every evening we used the barbeque to grill our veggies, and our meats, and ate on the balcony. Breakfast was eaten on the lower balcony and we had full access to both balconies and the hot tub. Joyce was a fabulous host, and we absolutely loved the location. Every day we cycled the Kettle Valley which is about a block away. In the evenings, we went for a walk on the KVR enjoying the sunsets, (and working off our suppers.)
There were 4 of us, and we found the space adequate. We were aware of the unique layout of the place, but for us the value, the location and the use of the BBQ/patios far outweighed indoor space.
We hope to return!
We booked the suite for a weekend with a friend for the Fall Wine Festival and had a lovely time. The suite is quite spacious and is in an excellent location - on the road to Naramata but still within walking distance to downtown. Tremendous views from the deck, which has both a hot tub and a barbecue you can use. We certainly enjoyed the hot tub after a busy day of wine tasting. We also quickly learned that the short walk to the Bench Market was the optimum way to enjoy our coffee every morning. We are already planning to come back again next year.
We stayed here for a week in August. The location is fine; it’s out of the busy area and headed on the road to Naramata where most of the wineries are, with a view of the lake in the distance. It is at the top of a huge hill though, so it’s a vigorous walk or cycle into town and back.
We found the layout inside to be odd. For example, there are no wardrobes, only a tiny hanging rail in the kitchen cupboard measuring 3ft. If you have more than two people i'm not clear where your clothes are meant to go. The second bedroom has sleeping room only, there is zero space for anything apart from the bed. Fortunately we put our two suitcases on the spare bed and lived out of those. A chest of drawers is available in main bedroom. The lounge is large and the HD TV is excellent. The ceilings are low and the bathroom is tiny with a shower. Not an issue for us, but could be if you're high-maintenance. Main bed was quite soft, no TV in the bedroom (a good thing).
Kitchen is large and washer/dryer excellent. BUT...there are no cooking facilities: only a microwave and a small toaster! So where are you supposed to cook? Yet there is a large fridge. I presume a lot of families are wishing to stay and avoid the cost of eating out all the time: a hotplate would have been a minimum requirement. I wouldn't like to turn up and find out that my holiday budget is blown, because I have nowhere to cook and have to eat out every night! Website needs to show this.
There is a BBQ available for use; however this is around the back of the property and is also used by the house owners…which could result in a conflict of interest if the owners were there. You also have to pre-prepare all your food in the kitchen, then carry it upstairs and round to the BBQ behind the house. Not fun if it’s raining!
For some reason all the cups and glasses etc are found in the bedroom, there just doesn't seem to be much thought into where things are placed.
I don’t want to be all-negative in our review. I understand that the owners have only recently ventured into the B&B market. It could be a great little place, but they need to buy a wardrobe and a cooker and be clearer in detail when marketing their website advertisement.
Jesse the 13-year old Labrador was our friend for the week and made up for our frustrations with the property. We would have taken him back with us!
We spent a week here while my son was in hockey school. It is a very comfortable, clean suite with everything that you need. I can't imagine being squished into a hotel room. Thank-you Joyce and Ron for your hospitality.
My family had a wonderful time here! Our two boys, aged 18m and 6yrs, loved the suite and the huge outdoor area. The suite had pretty much everything we needed and was very clean. We enjoyed the air conditioning and the outdoor eating area and the kids loved the hot tub. An added bonus was getting to see the Granfondo bike race zoom by!
Our stay at the home was simply marvellous. Our host and hostess, Ron and Joyce, gave us a wealth of information about the area and its features. We were introduced to some of the local wines, some of which have won world class awards. The property is a short distance from numerous cottage wineries in both Penticton and Naramata. There are over 100 wineries within a 60 kilometre radius. The home was very comfortable, clean, well maintained and lovingly updated by the owners.There is a host of summer festivals in this vacation capital of the province. We wholeheartedly recommend.
