From the Sunset Park bluff overlooking the peninsula, only a 15-minute walk (or better yet, a 5 minute bike ride) to the sandy beach and Pacific Ocean. The Newport Pier is just another mile south (5 more minutes) along the beautiful beach boardwalk.

Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, Queen Mary, and the famous Newport Fashion Island and South Coast Plaza shopping centers are a half hour away. LEGOLAND is 90min away. Sea World is 2 hours. Visiting someone at Hoag Hospital? You could throw a frisbee and hit the medical center from the condo balcony.
Fabulous seafood dining is within five minutes or rent a bike and experience the beautiful Newport Beach boardwalk as the sun sets behind Catalina Island.

You want to have a family beach vacation, but the rentals right on the sand are a Hassle! No parking, very crowded, and Tiny! Also, beach housing are usually 60+ years old with bad plumbing and poor lighting.
The Villa Balboa community where Casa Cristina resides was built in the late 80s and the top-floor location means tons of natural light though huge skylights.
Inflatable queen-size bed available to sleep 2 additional guests (not included). Wraparound balcony has barefoot-soft grass and bright bold sun chairs to drink in the SoCal sunshine with privacy. Please note the balcony does not face the ocean. Two pools to choose from -- serenity or family fun. Huge 15-person whirlpool jacuzzi. Tennis courts! Boogie board and beach bag ready for sand castle construction. Elegant marble kitchen countertops. Internal laundry services (clothes washer and dryer), ironing board.
Great perks here including the management. You can tell that this unit was lived in by the owner prior to it being a vacation rental, and so the setup was very abundant and practical. Plenty of towels, reclining beds, functional patio furniture. When we left our unit, we actually forgot my 3 year old's sleep sack and Steve actually met up with us the next day to hand it back to us. Awesome!
First of all, on-site manager deserves a five star rating. Best I have encountered during vacation stays. Very helpful getting us settled in and responded to requests in timely manner. Nicely furnished with dishes, kitchen appliances, comfortable furniture. Nice hot tub nearby on property. Central Air conditioner did quit and could not be "unfrozen" by us during unusual 90 degree temperatures . No air conditioning from late Thursday's breakdown through Friday and on to Monday because condo association did not allow repairman on the roof after 3 p.m. Friday until 9 a.m. Monday.
During those hot days we discovered neither one of two patio door had screen doors. Steve did get some screen doors out to us by Saturday. The cleaners also had left clothing items from previous guests in drawers and numerous personal care items were left in both bathrooms.
We loved the balcony views and walking around the property for additional sunset views. Only minutes from Pacific Ocean beaches by car or by running down hills to beach walkways. Able to go to beach daily.
Great price for family accommodation . Heaps of space. Lots of useful appliances already available that you would not get at a hotel (inc pool inflatables & toys). Air conditioner worked well, tv in each room and board games if nothing on tv. Spacious balcony and 1 minute to pool. Probably could not be helped but the spa bath was not working 100% when we stayed. A more detailed map of the grounds would be helpfull than the standard one issued. Other than those 2 minor things. Great place!
Casa Christina is a beautiful condo. Clean, well equipped and nicely decorated. Steve was very helpful and attentive to our arrival time and needs. He met us upon arrival to show us the condo and complex. The pool was beautiful and the residents were friendly and open. This condo is a great location; close to the beach, town and highways. Highly recommend and we will definitely stay here again.
We had a wonderful time staying at Casa Cristina. Would recommend this condo to families, couples, adventure seekers. The location was excellent to visit all the major attractions around Newport Beach and it is easy to get to the beaches. The pool was great, the kids loved it and all our neighbours were welcoming.
The apartment is well equipped and very clean and modern. It had all the mod cons and was comfortable.
This is a wonderful east-facing two-bedroom/two-bath condo with an excellent roommate-style layout (bedrooms/bath divided by the living room/kitchen areas). The top-floor unit is clean, well-furnished, comfortable, quiet and in a gated, nicely landscaped complex with two community pools and hot tub. There is a balcony with grill and loungers, as well as beach/pool towels and toys. We were there over the 4th of July and were able to walk to the nearby Sunset Ridge Park (via a private gate in the complex) to watch the fireworks all along the coast.
The gate also provides access for the walk to the beach, which is about 15 minutes (downhill on the way but back up a pretty steep hill on the return). You have to cross very busy Route 1 (PCH) at the traffic signals to get there. It wasn't a problem for us (and we had two 7 yr. olds in tow), but someone with mobility issues might have a problem. The sushi restaurant in the small retail plaza at the base of the hill (on PCH) below the condo is excellent; so is the pizza place and package store. The condo is too far from the hub of Newport Beach (i.e. the fun zone, pier or Balboa Island) to walk. We drove and had no issues finding parking; someone on bikes could likely make the trip in 30 min. or so.
Trader Joes' is a close drive, as is a fantastic fruit and vegetable market. The unit had all the paper products we needed, there was also coffee in the freezer and plenty of ice.
These are the only issues we found, none of which negatively affected our stay: In the kitchen, there was no colander or mixing bowls (there's one bowl but it's huge); also no grill-specific tools. The grill needs a serious cleaning (that said, it worked). The A/C shuts off after a set number of hours which is great for saving energy when we would be gone for the day, but also meant the place heated up during the evening when we were asleep (maybe that time could be increased?). Finally, there was some issue with smooth playback for the DVD player in the living room (maybe it just needs to be cleaned as well).
All in all, we highly recommend this rental. There is an attention to detail that showed throughout and which served to make our vacation relaxing and memorable.
The unit was very well appointed, clean, and comfortable. We had everything we needed to host a dinner and to prepare food for a short stay by family members. The condo was quiet. It was convenient to the beach and shops on the Balboa peninsula. We really enjoyed our stay.
