Fred's Farm is a recently renovated farmhouse from 1906. The two large bedrooms have new hardwood floors, new windows and new queen-sized beds. Both bathrooms have been renovated, one with a soaking tub and the other with a long tub. Terrazzo and tile floors, a marble-topped vanity with two sinks and new bath fixtures make each bathroom an oasis. A chef's kitchen with all the appliances anyone would want and lots of natural light. Large living room with cable tv and a blu-ray DVD player. The dining room is on the screened porch with beautiful 3/4 views of the property. A porch with seating from Design Within Reach and a barbecue makes for some fun grilling.
A California native who fell in love with Asheville a couple of years ago...it's like Santa Cruz in the mountains. The music, the area, and the people make Asheville a wonderful place!
Owner/Property Manager purchased this farmhouse in 2012
Fred's Farm has been renovated with love to bring the best of the new, while keeping the charm or the old. Here is a place to relax after work, or to vacation away from everything at home. Want to try and make something new in the kitchen? There's a collection of all types of cookbooks, and the equipment needed to make something different. Tranquility can be had sitting down by the creek, or having a glass of wine on the porch. With Wi-fi throughout the house, you're still able to check the emails or download something from Netflix.
When I first walked into the house, it was the living room that drew me in. The original fireplace mantle and wainscoting throughout the room, along with the many large windows made me realize I'd found the perfect place to read a book or listen to music.
Both bathrooms provide excellent tubs to soak in. The beds are very comfortable, and you'll always hear birds in the morning.
Our stay at Fred's farm was very pleasant. The listing description is very accurate. The property is well maintained and the house is spacious and very comfortable. The location was very convenient but at the same time relatively secluded. I would definitely recommend it!
We absolutely love Fred's Farm. We think it should be renamed Bunny Hill though because of the number of bunnies we saw. We routinely saw 14 turkeys and even a bear one evening. We were on the lookout for George the Groundhog but had no luck spotting him. The home is very clean and well appointed. We loved cooking in the very spacious kitchen and read many of the 50 or so cookbooks in the house. It is also relatively convenient to downtown Asheville and all that this fantastic city has to offer. After our trip we even looked to see if it was available for Thanksgiving but someone beat us to it. I would most definitely stay at the farm again on our next trip to Asheville. We had lovely weather and we really did not want to leave.
Lovely home, felt rustic but very comfortable. Lovely location and we had a lovely time in Asheville, despite the chilly April weather. Would definitely return to Fred's Farm. Our dog loved it too.
We really enjoyed staying at Fred's Farm over March break. The house was perfect for my husband and myself, our daughter and dog. Nicely decorated, new and clean with great bathrooms and kitchen. Large selection of videos to watch in the evening and wonderful cookbooks to look through. The house was an easy drive to downtown and all of the fun activities Asheville has to offer. Great house that we recommend highly!
We had a brilliant time staying at Fred's Farm over Thanksgiving. We were there seven nights and every single one of them was perfect. Weather was freaky...freezing, snow, rain and then a warm up. The heater in the house is crazy good. All of this contributed to really enjoying our time in Asheville and at the house. Everything is perfect really and comes exactly as described. We fell in love with Asheville and plan on moving there someday. Soon, we hope!
I rented this house for nearly six weeks and can speak with some authority when I say this house is fabulous. It blends the look and feel of a country farm house with a modern aesthetic. Photos of the kitchen don't do it justice as its a gourmet cooks dream. A chef could be very happy here and if you're not one there are over sixty of the best cook books ever written in the bookcase. The bedrooms are huge with a warm and cozy feel and outstanding mattresses. I have a bad back and have never slept so well. There just isn't anything you would want that this house does not provide...from a Smart plasma tv to an extensive dvd collection to take care of you on a rainy day and if you want to do a little housekeeping there's a Dyson vacuum and huge Whirlpool washer & dryer . The location is ideal as you are minutes away from downtown Asheville or the Parkway in a wonderful farm like setting that just feels like home the moment you set foot in the house. I have three shih tzu dogs who had the best time running around the acre property. But the best testimonial I can offer is that I don't want to leave and would buy it in a heart beat if it ever comes up for sale!!! This house is a treasure and I can't wait to return.
Fred's Farm is quick eight minute drive from downtown Asheville, in the Beaverdam area of North Asheville. Close to all that Asheville has to offer, including the Biltmore Estate, golfing, spas, yoga, coffee houses, art galleries, shopping, hiking, and dining.
