About this property

Sweet one level house in the Heart of Alberta Arts

The perfect house for family or friends, centrally located in the perfect Portland neighborhood. Diverse, rich in culture, excellent food and drink, on transit lines and totally walkable, you won't even need a car if you don't want to have one.

We are a legally permitted 4 bedroom short term rental house! Permit #LU 15-267213 CU. We are a registered business with, and pay lodging and business tax to, the City of Portland (TaySoif LLC). Please note there is a small extra charge for more than 6 people. Eight guests is our limit.

The four bedroom two bath main house is for guests; we have a tenant in an apartment upstairs which has its own entry and deck. Guests also get the driveway (where you can park up to 3 cars single file), the front porch, and the back yard. Neighborhood quiet hours are 10PM to 8AM. No events can be hosted here.

Awesome clean beds and pillows, and a clean, comfortable, well appointed, great-smelling house in a vibrant neighborhood. Central air! We LOVE to make our guests have the vacation or short term stay they want.

This is one of Portland's best "pocket" neighborhoods. It's diverse and unique; full of walkable fun. There are so many restaurants and bars within blocks of the house. There are shops, art galleries, the well-stocked Alberta Co-op grocery, and a Zoom care all within steps of the house. Our neighborhood: creative and cool, friendly, fabulous food, flat, walkable, and bikeable. We have Alberta's 'Last Thursday': the divine arts fair on the last Thursday of every warm month, when they close the whole street and the artsy spirit of PDX is in full bloom... Fall in love with Portland here.

We restored this 1970's ranch in 2013 (and again in 2016 when we built the apartment upstairs) to give it a geometric, clean, inviting style. Quiet, solid bamboo floors run throughout the house, every appliance is Energy Star, all the bulbs are LED. It's super private, and the living/outdoor spaces do not intersect with the upstairs tenant's area at all. The front porch is a great place to watch the neighborhood walk by, and the big back yard has a beautiful gazebo with two couches and dining table with umbrella and a dining table with six chairs and a huge umbrella. All for you.

Free fast wifi.Comcast cable, Netflix. Fully equipped kitchen with such staples as sugar, spices, and oil, cleaning supplies, paper towels, napkins. A private code for each party in the internet-controlled locks. Two bikes with helmets and locks. A charcoal barbecue grill.
It's SUPER important that you realize how much we value the quiet and peace of our neighbors, did I mention that? We understand that you may be on vacation, but they are not. You are their guests in their neighborhood, too.
Public transit is just half a block away!
We may negotiate rates if certain dates are not booked, or for a smaller party (1 or 2 people)

Fantastic Location in Alberta Arts District
We stayed for a week with our 3 teenage girls (19, 17 & 14). The location was perfect because the girls could walk up to Alberta Street and check out all the shops and restaurants. The house is literally 2 minutes from everything they wanted to explore. We did a few day trips too: one to the coast (Seaside), a second to Maltnomah Falls and a third to Newberg. It was always so nice to come back to the VRBO and relax on the porch while the afternoon turned into evening.

Great!
Loved our stay. Appreciated parking available in the driveway. Location was great - fun eateries, vintage shops & coffee just a few steps away. Felt safe in the neighborhood. Generous space in the unit. Beds were cozy & comfy & kitchen well appointed. Communication with Amy was easy. Thank you!

The Men
Group of 4 of us celebrating a Birthday for our 66 year old brother! What a great place and centrally located for what we were looking for. Amy was extremely communicative and everything was as advertised. Great back yard, we used the BBQ and grilled up some great steaks and drank some great beers. The parking for our vehicles was very handy, I would say that with the suburban, it was a bit tough getting in and out with all the parking on the street but we managed. Would stay here again in the future for absolute sure.

Hi, I'm Amy. We've been in Oregon 23 years and we love it! We live in a suburb just south of Portland. I do some traveling as a trainer for a tech company, but even if I'm not here, you can count on a quick response to any question or issue you may have.

Why they chose this property

If you know Portland, you know this is the spot. If you don't know Portland, lucky you. You found a spotless house with lovely beds and spaces, close to everything. You can park in the drivrway,! Our neighborhood is quiet, safe, friendly and fun. You can make coffee or tea with the supplied beans and leaves in the morning, or you can walk to either corner for an awesome cup from Fuel Cafe or Extracto. Spend a great day in and around Portland, (we get lots of business travelers too, 1.8 miles to the convention center!) and at night, amble home from any number of establishments within walking distance. If you can resist all the restaurants, cook with gas in the well-equipped kitchen. Lounge in the back yard or on the front porch on those warm days, and enjoy the house with central AC and heat when it's not a perfect Portland day.

What makes this property unique

We chose this property for its location. It would be hard to find a better one. After all the gutting and remodeling and landscaping (2016), the house is super inviting with its clean lines and the improvements that matter for guests...the quiet, clean bamboo floors, the good beds, the open kitchen/living area, which is perfect for groups. We followed that aesthetic in remodeling the front patio with its geometric blue stone and granite path and patio, and a pergola. The front porch and the back yard, weather permitting, are great places to enjoy. The back yard is landscaped with a covered gazebo for those warm months when you'll appreciate the shade, and a dining set for six. The tenant's upstairs apartment does not intersect with your living space at all.
