This beautiful estate is palatial and secluded, with a four-bedroom, three-bath house, as well as a self-contained one-bedroom apartment over the garage. There are extensive balconies and decks off the main house, offering views of a picturesque wilderness, and the lodge-like interior boasts a spectacular great room and chef-worthy kitchen. The apartment, perfect for those in your group who want a bit more privacy, has a full kitchen and bedroom with queen and twin beds.
Perched on a hilltop right between Council Mountain and Lake Cascade, this home will be a perfect retreat for a family reunion, ski vacation, or even a small wedding (with prior approval). In fact, this estate at Tamarack is so special and well-appointed that a sitting president vacationed here with his family in 2004!
The main house's interior makes an impression with its tall wood slanted ceilings, large picture windows, and stone-covered, wood burning fireplace, evoking the image of a stately national park lodge. An abundance of plush furniture provides comfortable seating for viewing the flatscreen TV or enjoying the cozy fireplace.
A formal dining room and full, gourmet kitchen are nearby, making conversation easy while preparing meals or relaxing by the fire. Granite countertops, a six-range gas stovetop, and stainless steel appliances will appeal to the chef in your group, who will no doubt be inspired to create wonderful meals any time of day. After an afternoon of hiking or skiing, your group can come home for a hearty homemade feast, with seating for all located at the large dining room table. Nearby glass doors lead out to a beautiful deck area with another fireplace, deck seating, and a gas grill for summer barbecues and fashionable outdoor entertaining.
A stylishly decorated bedroom with a queen sized bed is located on the main floor, as well as a full bathroom. When you head upstairs, you'll find a gorgeous master suite with plush carpeting, a cloud-like king sized bed, and an elegant seating area with wing back leather chairs. A private balcony offers lovely views anytime of day, but is especially enchanting while sipping morning coffee or imbibing an evening nightcap. You can drift off to sleep while watching a DVD on the flat screen TV or just just enjoying the ambiance of the gas fireplace. The en suite bathroom has double vessel sinks and vanities, walk-in closet, beautiful tiled shower, and indulgent soaker tub.
Another bedroom with a queen sized bed is located upstairs and, much like the downstairs bedroom, has neutral, pleasing color tones, a comfortable wood-framed bed, and a window with forest view. The last bedroom in the main house is great for younger guests with its two twin-sized beds. An outdoorsy, rustic theme provides a fun, comfortable space for staying up late into the night and playing games. Another full bathroom on this level has dual sinks and a shower/tub combo, and connects between the queen and twin bedrooms. Other amenities included in the main house consist of a washer and dryer, DVD library, stereo with CD player, WiFi, cable TV, and outdoor hot tub. And if your dogs need a vacation too, feel free to bring them along!
The garage apartment offers a bit more privacy for those in your group that want to be able to mingle with everyone in the main house, but still appreciate their own space. This cute apartment has its own private entrance and is located above the three-car garage. Accommodating up to four more guests, there's a large bedroom with queen and twin bunk beds, as well as a queen sleeper sofa in the living room. A full kitchen and dining room allows for preparing and enjoying private meals in the apartment, and there's also a full bathroom, and washer/dryer. Altogether, this beautiful estate has a total of five bedrooms, four bathrooms and can comfortably house 12 guests.
Located on the west shore of Cascade Reservoir, Tamarack is southwest of Donnelly and about 90 miles north of Boise. In nice weather months, there is nearby access to golf at the lush Osprey Meadows and, for the daredevils in your group, even a zip line course. Hiking and boating are also popular outdoor activities. Meal options at the Tamarack Resort include a fine dining restaurant and pub, and there are even more options in McCall, about 40 minutes north.
In winter, the nearby mountains turn into a snowy wonderland. For skiing and snowboarding fun, this property is only a half mile from the lifts at Tamarack Resort. You can even ski in ski out if you make your own path! There's also ample snowshoeing opportunities in the nearby Forest Service backcountry, and hundreds of miles of snowmobile trails.

We had stayed here a year ago and remembered it just the same, what a comfortable house. Very spacious with an ideal quiet location. It is simply gorgeous and we hope to return again in the future.
Very nice layout for small group get away. Open Kitchen / dining area combined with the primary living area is excellent for a social group.
The house itself is nice and in a good area close to the village. However, we had HVAC problems, Electrical problems, Icemaker did not work, wood was not provided for fireplace in winter, Keypads were not working upon arrival and the pipes in the guest house froze due to a hole in the wall of the garage leading to insulation problems. The communication in rectifying these problems was not the easiest and finally was completed after Day 4 of a 5 day stay.
Cherry Tree Lane Gathering
This was our annual Christmas gathering with friends from across the country: MA, CO, NE and ID. We had a wonderful extended weekend and even put up a Christmas tree we found in the closet. The hot tub and provided firewood made for a cozy weekend. Great get-away and highly recommend.
Our family gathered together for a reunion at Tamarack. Our rental property was spacious, comfortable, and had all the makings for an outstanding experience for each of our four families. From the mule deer walking past the front of our home to the lone bluejay gathering berries in the back yard, each day presented its own joy. The adjoining guest apartment proved to provide a super "clubhouse" for our preteen guests and the hot tub on the deck provided endless fun and enjoyment. Access to hiking trails right from our backyard made daily hikes irresistible. We had a delightful experience and hope to return. Paula Nappi
It was all We thought it would be. The outdoor fire pit was an added bonus. Very comfortable and the master suite was marvelous.
