We are originally from the UK & Canada, have traveled extensively in the US and Europe using vacation rentals. We have been coming to Portland for many years and love the city. It is a paradise for walking, cycling, eating and drinking, and you do not need a car! We have 2 places in prime locations, the Feathered Nest is one of them.
Debbie Mills purchased this apartment in 2012
The architects who converted this 100 year old house into 2 units did a great job of maintaining the old charm while adding modern amenities, we have recently upgraded the property again. It is a home from home in the absolute best area in Portland.
Walking distance to restaurants, bars, breweries, theaters, light rail, parks, the river, downtown & the Pearl district, the Timbers soccer stadium, Lots of separate spaces, a peaceful porch and sun room for reading and rain watching. Large dining room, living room and kitchen.
We will be back and why can't all VRBO's be like this!? Clean, Homey, Fully equipped, spacious, wonderful neighborhood, comfy. Basically everything you would want in a home away from home. Well done!
It's hard to add anything new to the previous reviews, except to say that it's all true and the Nest really is as wonderful as everyone says. We'll always remember cooking a 25th birthday dinner for our daughter in the exceptionally well-equipped kitchen, fireplace blazing, then moving into the comfortable, beautifully appointed dining room. The layout is great - lots of space to be together or apart.
This is probably our 6th or 7th stay at the Nest and it is always the same: amazing, wonderful, and comforting. We rented both the upstairs unit (The Perch) and the downstairs unit (The Nest). We had a lot of family in town for the holidays and wanted a place where we could all do things together but still let everyone have their own space. It was great!
The Nest is ALWAYS SUPER CLEAN and charmingly decorated. This trip was the first time we made a fire in the fireplace (which is awesomely located in the kitchen!) - it gave such a nice warm charming feeling. Also, this was the first time my husband I and I stayed in the downstairs bedroom, wow! What a bathroom!! So much space! Such luxury! Clawfoot bathtub, giant bathroom, walk-in closet!
There is no room for improvement, the Nest is literally the Best in Portland. Thanks again, Robbie and Debbie!
Can't say enough about how great the apartment and owners were during our stay. Our group grew quite a bit and the owners were extremely accommodating and helpful throughout our stay.
I cannot say enough good things about this property – everything about it was perfect. A beautiful house in a lovely neighborhood. Very complete instructions for a comfortable visit (such as how to sign onto the wi-fi) and closing the house, as well as information about the area’s restaurants and attractions. Thoughtful details everywhere – big closets with wooden hangers, luggage racks, a well-appointed kitchen, comfortable beds with quality linens, luxurious showers, a parking pass for the neighborhood, umbrellas by the door, coasters on the side tables. And everything was sparkling clean, orderly, beautiful, and in perfect shape. I could not have asked for more. These property owners are wonderful!
I have stayed in what I call "My Portland Home" 5 or 6 times now and each time it is the same high-quality experience. The house is always immaculate and everything you could need is provided. The location is awesome. We always just park the car for our whole visit and walk everywhere; its so easy to 23rd AND downtown.
This time, we had a little plumbing issue - the sink in the upstairs bathroom backed up. Well, you would think in a VRBO situation that it would be a total inconvenience, but it was not! Robbie and Debbie had a plumber there within an hour (we were out at the time) and the problem was fixed so fast it was as if it had never happened - FANTASTIC OWNERS!
I love this place and it pains me to write these great reviews because I know that just means it will be harder and harder to book this awesome place! It really is the best of the best.
