This is really a special place. It was built in the 1750s and is one of the oldest buildings in Granada. It underwent a 3-year restoration to bring it back to it's original splendor. The house has original floors, ceilings and doors dating back to it's construction along with all the modern amenities one would need.
Centrally located. Just one block off the main park. Casa Blanca is tucked in behind the town's main cathedral and on Granada's main pedestrian street and restaurant row, Calle Calzada. The house has the traditional colonial design with a central courtyard full of beautiful tropical plants and a deep and cool 40 ft long swimming pool. Once you step into the house, you're in your own little private paradise.
Seven friends stayed for three nights. The first friend who got to the house thought he most be in the wrong place. The rest of us each stopped in our tracks when we walked into the courtyard. Absolutely stunning. Great location. Lots of restaurants within just a couple of blocks. Guadalupe kept the house spotless. Elizabeth at GPS helped with tours and such. Guillermo was a delight to work with.
It would be redundant to try to expand the property descriptions in the other reviews. The accommodations were spectacular. The rental management, GPS, is a block away and very helpful and responsive to any request including transportation, tours, shopping, hiring a cook, where to find whatever. The location is right in the center (easy walking distance) of almost every place in Granada for which one would come to the city. Our group consisted of 5 men, age 50s and up, with previous experience in Nicaragua and Granada. This house was by far the best accommodation and location in which we have stayed.
This house had it all. It was beautiful, comfortable and the best location in Granada. It felt like we were in a movie staying at this house. As soon as you walk out of your door you are right in the center of all of the action. We had multiple friends staying in Granada at different places and Casa Blanca was by far the best .
Everything about the house was fantastic! The pictures can not capture how impressive this house really is! I travelled with a group of 11 people (9 adults and 2 children) and the house had everything we needed (good AC in the rooms, filtered water for drinking, plenty of towels, lots of seating)! We did have a car but we did not really need it while staying in this location as everything was easily within walking distance. If I come back to stay in Granada I would definitely stay there again.
There's no word to describe that place, this is paradise! We have rented houses all over the world and this is without any doubt the best one ever. Everything is perfect, you don't even need to read all the reviews, just book it, you will not be disappointed. It's spacious, incredibly clean, the pool is huge, the staff awesome. You can't beat the location. We rented a car and parked it in the street everyday, there are people outside watching day and night for a small tip so no worries there. Guillermo was so easy to work with, answers any questions you may have. We used his recommendations for the tour to Mombacho volcano and we had a great guide, also for the tour to Las Isletas and it was perfect. I so wish I was still there. Highly recommended!!
This home is literally a work of art. We arrived here from Ometepe and were blown away by the quality of the home and its furnishings, the amazing pool in the courtyard, and all the little details which have been thought of ahead of time (e.g. plenty of towels, coffee, bottled water). One of my friends commented that she wondered when someone was going to come and kick us out! It was that nice.
I'm extremely obsessive about cleanliness and order. This house was so clean, I didn't even think twice about walking anywhere (even in the outdoor courtyard) without shoes. The housekeeper did great work. The furnishings, art, and other decorations are tasteful, high-end, and relaxing. It is clear that the owners have been very thoughtful in decorating the house.
Location can't be beat! You can walk anywhere you'd want to go. I can't imagine a better place to be--right next to the town square AND a row of restaurants and shops.
I got great help booking drivers through GPS, and I found both the owner and GPS very helpful and attentive. The driver was on time and professional.
If you're considering staying in a hotel in Granada, you're nuts! This house will make your vacation. I've stayed in numerous luxury properties through VRBO over the past 10 years in the USA, Central America, and the Caribbean. This is the highest quality rental I've had.
Drawn by year-round warm weather, colonial-era architecture and the freshwater Lake Nicaragua, travelers from around the world are flocking to Granada. Eco-tourists will love visiting the dormant Mombacho volcano, sailing on the lake and ziplining through the trees. Fans of spa treatments and shopping will find plenty to do, too.
Nicaragua travel tops the New York Times’ best in travel for 2013. Ranked third out of forty-six select destinations, Nicaragua made it to the top of the list. Nicaragua is a country of thriving culture, history, wildlife and boasts a landscape dominated by pristine rainforest and miles & miles of serene sandy shoreline. Its avenue of volcanoes is stunning and protected by national parks. Conscious of their natural treasures, “eco” is both practiced and preached in Nicaragua. Nicaragua Lake is vast; it rivals that of Lake Titicaca in its beauty and grandeur. The lake’s Ometepe Island is the largest freshwater island in the world. It is composed of two volcanoes and an isthmus that connects them. Hiking here is a must. Beyond its natural features, Nicaragua’s nicest colonial city, Granada, offers great dining, exquisite cathedrals and museums from the Spanish era.
