About Linda

We built this home away from home to get away from our busy lives in CT and enjoy all of what 'Vacationland' has to offer. Relax and enjoy the beautiful outdoors of Maine. This house and property has truly been our labor of love. We are happy to share it with you!

Linda purchased this house in 2008

Why Linda chose Brownfield

We picked the sleepy town of Brownfield Maine to build our 3,000 square foot cottage because of the easy access to everything we might like to do including: the arts (music, local artists, craftsmen etc) including Stone Mountain arts Center. Hiking, biking, swimming, fishing, kayaking, and boating. Less then 1 hour to old Orchard Beach, or Freeport. Shopping and great restaurants of all types. Nearly (20) Ski resorts within an hour drive. Snowmobile and snowshoe trail access directly across the street.

Just about everything you would want to do from minutes to max 1 hour away.

What makes this house unique

We fell in love with the beautiful park like setting, to build our home. The ever changing Saco river is mesmerizing. We have the only peninsula on the river which we go to often and sit on our swing. It feels like a golden pond. Being so close to the river allows us to witness nature in all her beauty. To see turkeys, eagles, ducks, and deer. Are all part of the beauty of this place. A small piece of heaven.

stunning. It comes ready with everything you need and more. You can tell that the owners really try to maintain the cottage. It was spotless when we entered. The cottage has this lovely charm to it. There's so much to do like skiing/snowboarding, snowmobiling, grilling and enjoying spectacular views of the Saco river right from the backyard. We enjoyed this place so much that we want go become regulars. We plan on coming back for the summer to try canoeing and tubing. Linda the owner was great. She made the renting process so easy and quick. David their caretaker was very kind and helpful too. We look forward
to making more amazing memories at this beautiful cottage. Thank you so much Linda!

Amazing Place

My friends and I rang in the new year for the second year in a row at this beautiful home and plan to continue to return. There are lots of nearby outdoor activities, a great game room, indoor and outdoor fireplaces... I could go on. Tips and reminders posted throughout the house were extremely helpful and Linda is always available by phone and email. We can't wait to try this property in warmer seasons to get the full effect!

It's so good to hear you had a great New Years at my cottage!
I have been there many of times and it's almost magical to start the new year there. Especially if there is snow!
I would love to see you folks back during the warmer weather. I think you would really love the yard, along with the big fire pit we have in the back.
Your friends might really enjoy kayaking, swimming or just fishing in the river.
I look forward to having you back again.

Kept Pinching Ourselves- It was like a dream!

  • 5 of 5
Words fail to describe our experience at this beautiful and dream-like cabin in the woods! There were seven of us (teens and adults) who were together before the holidays after having been a bifurcated/bi-coastal family for a year. This oasis was absolutely perfect.Where to begin?Everything was truly like something from a movie set.The structure itself is exceptionally gorgeous-no detail spared in its construction from the beautiful frame and beams that were imported from British Columbia, to the design of the cathedral ceilings and exposed bark stair crevices. We loved the main living room with it's gorgeous stone fireplace that was adjacent to the open gourmet kitchen that had every gadget, dish, and cooking utensil one could ever need.We cooked three meals a day and had plenty of space to spread out to prepare our feasts.Gas grill on the deck was an added bonus.Chimney art and deck sign was a nice touch. The master bedroom/bath off the living room was delightful in every way, with gorgeous views from the bed of the Saco River. The furnishings were comfortable (though we did find the mattress a bit firm from our one at home) and the decorations were romantic & touching (wonderful painted quote above the bed that brought a tear to my eye), and the bedding charming. The master bath was spacious and had a jacuzzi tub (which we surprisingly did not use) and also a stand-up shower with a glorious rainfall shower head.On the second floor were 4 bedrooms + two additional lofts. Our four +1 kids had plenty of room to spread out up there and everyone had their own designated space. There was also a large full bathroom upstairs with Maine touches thru-out.The views from the bedrooms & lofts were incredible- a different vantage point depending on which room you were in.Though we did not need them, there are childproof gates and safety features built in everywhere so those with young children can feel quite secure. The basement rec room (w/pool table, foosball table, children's play area, fridge, half-bath, and laundry room) was spacious but the piece de resistance was the movie theater room with the twinkling stars in the ceiling.Amazing! The caretaker David met us upon arrival and gave us a tour.He was friendly and awesome and def loves the place! We did drive to Conway, NH for some shopping.Closest grocery is 10 miles away but a good store.Snowed on our last morning which made us sad to leave. Many thanks to Linda/Gary for kindness before, during, and after. We'll be back!

What wonderful words you have for my Rivers edge cottage and your experience there.
I have said to many of my guests that we love sharing our cottage and labor of love with great families.
But your bi-coastal family reunion touched my heart. I knew my cottage would be a wonderful place for your kin folk to reunite and begin you families holiday together.
Filling my cottage with fun times and lots of love, from families like yours. Helps me to realize I have made a good choice to share my cottage.
If you ever come to Maine again. We would love to have you back!

Absolutely beautiful!!!

  • 5 of 5
We rented this house for our daughters wedding @ Stone Mountain Arts Center. It was the perfect place for the girls to spend the night before, and get ready the next morning. We had music playing on the speakers throughout the house and the open kitchen was great for setting out food and drinks for all. There was plenty of room Sat night with the Bride and Groom staying in the master suite on the 1st floor and the bridal party staying in the rooms on the 2nd floor. One couple couldn't resist sleeping "under the stars" in the media room. The post and beam structure by itself is beautiful and the detail put into the decorating is amazing right down to the items in the kitchen cabinets. It is the home you wish you had! Took a walk to the river and enjoyed a quiet moment on the swing before everyone arrived and the festivities began. Wish we had time to use the fire pit and BBQ on the deck. So many things to look forward to on our next visit. Yes! we will be back.

Under recommendations: It is certainly a romantic place for a couple but because of its size you would be wishing you had brought friends or family to share the experience with you.

Just what the doctor ordered!

  • 5 of 5
We were in big time need of a relaxing, comfortable getaway and it would be hard to imagine anything better than this. We arrived just before dark and were not in the mood for preparing dinner (even though the kitchen facilities would have made it quite simple). A quick online check (after connecting our devices to the provided wifi) and we found a wonderful local restaurant just 2 miles up the road. After a fine meal we retreated back to Rivers Edge for an evening of relaxation and planning for the next day.

We chose to take a westerly course and headed for the Old Towne section of North Conway on a beautiful early autumn day. After hitting the shops and visiting the old train station (something we look forward to taking on our next venture here) we brought our lunches just north of town to the Diana's Baths park and nearby ledges. Awesome views!

After a busy day, we opted to eat dinner in that evening so we stopped Westons, a local farm stand in Frye for fresh veggies and meat. We grilled on the deck overlooking the Saco River, listening to our music playing through the wonderful sound system in the home.

Next morning started with a lazy breakfast that was more like brunch. We headed east this day, with The Poland House as our initial target. We wanted to squeeze in a bit of ocean time as well, and Old Orchard Beach was within reach. The showers held off just long enough for us to enjoy a short walk in the sand. We grabbed dinner at one of the beachside restaurants and got back on the road. For those of us who enjoy a little casino time, the Oxford Casino is just a 1/2 hour away from the property. Naturally went there also :-) .

On our ride home we stopped back at Westons to load up several HUGE pumpkins. A few final stops at local craft shops and it was time to leave paradise and head back to reality.

It's been a few weeks since we returned and we still are talking about our next visit. Your Rivers Edge home is simply amazing. Exceptionally clean, comfortable, and within easy distance to so many things to do it is easy to see how we could return year after year and always find a new journey. And oh yes, how can we leave out the beautiful Saco River? Sitting in the swing and tossing a fishing line we just absolute icing on the cake.

Thank you Linda and Gary for sharing this gem with us. We can't wait till our next visit.

WOW!

  • 5 of 5
Our nephew got married at Stone Mountain Arts Center, and we rented the cottage so our family could spend the weekend together. When we arrived on Friday we were amazed at what a wonderful home this is. I work as an admin in a real estate office, and know how easy it is to make any house look beautiful in pictures. I was so pleased to find that the cottage far surpassed the photos in the listing. WOW! As our kids starting arriving with their families it was such fun to watch their reactions. We are a fairly large group between our children and grandkids, and there was plenty of room for us to spread out and enjoy. 3 ½ baths were a godsend with 8 of us getting ready to attend a wedding! The cottage is perfect, and it’s plain to see that it was built as a labor of love, with amazing craftsmanship and attention to detail. I can’t begin to describe all the amenities, except to say it is just gorgeous. The house is so well stocked that all we really needed to bring was food and clothing. There is always something we wished we brought on a weekend away, but not here. Linda has truly thought of everything. Much as they enjoyed the unbelievable playroom, we had such fun watching our grandkids enjoy the back yard, fishing on the river, and exploring! Our family are huge campfire fans, and the fire ring here is the best. Post breakfast S’mores were a hit! SMAC was the perfect venue for a wedding, and this cottage was the perfect spot for a family getaway. Thank you so much for sharing!
