About Linda

We built this home away from home to get away from our busy lives in CT and enjoy all of what 'Vacationland' has to offer. Relax and enjoy the beautiful outdoors of Maine. This house and property has truly been our labor of love. We are happy to share it with you!

Linda purchased this house in 2008

Why Linda chose Brownfield

We picked the sleepy town of Brownfield Maine to build our 3,000 square foot cottage because of the easy access to everything we might like to do including: the arts (music, local artists, craftsmen etc) including Stone Mountain arts Center. Hiking, biking, swimming, fishing, kayaking, and boating. Less then 1 hour to old Orchard Beach, or Freeport. Shopping and great restaurants of all types. Nearly (20) Ski resorts within an hour drive. Snowmobile and snowshoe trail access directly across the street.

Just about everything you would want to do from minutes to max 1 hour away.

What makes this house unique

We fell in love with the beautiful park like setting, to build our home. The ever changing Saco river is mesmerizing. We have the only peninsula on the river which we go to often and sit on our swing. It feels like a golden pond. Being so close to the river allows us to witness nature in all her beauty. To see turkeys, eagles, ducks, and deer. Are all part of the beauty of this place. A small piece of heaven.

Just what the doctor ordered!

  • 5 of 5
We were in big time need of a relaxing, comfortable getaway and it would be hard to imagine anything better than this. We arrived just before dark and were not in the mood for preparing dinner (even though the kitchen facilities would have made it quite simple). A quick online check (after connecting our devices to the provided wifi) and we found a wonderful local restaurant just 2 miles up the road. After a fine meal we retreated back to Rivers Edge for an evening of relaxation and planning for the next day.

We chose to take a westerly course and headed for the Old Towne section of North Conway on a beautiful early autumn day. After hitting the shops and visiting the old train station (something we look forward to taking on our next venture here) we brought our lunches just north of town to the Diana's Baths park and nearby ledges. Awesome views!

After a busy day, we opted to eat dinner in that evening so we stopped Westons, a local farm stand in Frye for fresh veggies and meat. We grilled on the deck overlooking the Saco River, listening to our music playing through the wonderful sound system in the home.

Next morning started with a lazy breakfast that was more like brunch. We headed east this day, with The Poland House as our initial target. We wanted to squeeze in a bit of ocean time as well, and Old Orchard Beach was within reach. The showers held off just long enough for us to enjoy a short walk in the sand. We grabbed dinner at one of the beachside restaurants and got back on the road. For those of us who enjoy a little casino time, the Oxford Casino is just a 1/2 hour away from the property. Naturally went there also :-) .

On our ride home we stopped back at Westons to load up several HUGE pumpkins. A few final stops at local craft shops and it was time to leave paradise and head back to reality.

It's been a few weeks since we returned and we still are talking about our next visit. Your Rivers Edge home is simply amazing. Exceptionally clean, comfortable, and within easy distance to so many things to do it is easy to see how we could return year after year and always find a new journey. And oh yes, how can we leave out the beautiful Saco River? Sitting in the swing and tossing a fishing line we just absolute icing on the cake.

Thank you Linda and Gary for sharing this gem with us. We can't wait till our next visit.

WOW!

  • 5 of 5
Our nephew got married at Stone Mountain Arts Center, and we rented the cottage so our family could spend the weekend together. When we arrived on Friday we were amazed at what a wonderful home this is. I work as an admin in a real estate office, and know how easy it is to make any house look beautiful in pictures. I was so pleased to find that the cottage far surpassed the photos in the listing. WOW! As our kids starting arriving with their families it was such fun to watch their reactions. We are a fairly large group between our children and grandkids, and there was plenty of room for us to spread out and enjoy. 3 ½ baths were a godsend with 8 of us getting ready to attend a wedding! The cottage is perfect, and it’s plain to see that it was built as a labor of love, with amazing craftsmanship and attention to detail. I can’t begin to describe all the amenities, except to say it is just gorgeous. The house is so well stocked that all we really needed to bring was food and clothing. There is always something we wished we brought on a weekend away, but not here. Linda has truly thought of everything. Much as they enjoyed the unbelievable playroom, we had such fun watching our grandkids enjoy the back yard, fishing on the river, and exploring! Our family are huge campfire fans, and the fire ring here is the best. Post breakfast S’mores were a hit! SMAC was the perfect venue for a wedding, and this cottage was the perfect spot for a family getaway. Thank you so much for sharing!

Little slice of heaven

  • 5 of 5
Had a wonderful time and I highly recommend staying here. The house is newly constructed with lots of high ceilings and exposed beams. The design is smart - getting the maximum use of the space - great for a large family with children. The location is almost as good as the house with a serene river in the background and a fire pit in the backyard, it's a great place to enjoy a beautiful starry night in Maine.

I am so glad you enjoyed my little slice of heaven. Yes indeed the night time sky from my backyard is a magical sight to be seen!
So, so many stars. One of my favorite things to do.
Im not sure why but, but on a clear winters night there seems to be more stars then there is sky.. So beautiful.
I was impressed on how many different places you and all your guests came from to stay at my rivers edge!
If you all ever come back to the northeast, you are always welcome to watch the night time sky from my little slice of heaven :) .

From the moment we stepped into the front door we knew this home was special. I can't say enough about this spectacular home. Every possible detail was well thought out and the owner hasn't missed a thing. From comfortable beds, designer bedding, a fully stocked gourmet cook's kitchen, comfortable ample outdoor seating and fire pit with plenty of wood, nightlights in the bathroom, everything was well thought out and stocked. The woodwork and architectural detail is incredible never mind Linda's touches and artful pieces everywhere. There was "eye candy" everywhere you looked. The bathroom stonework and fixtures were impressive ! This home is meticulously maintained inside and out and the pride of ownership is obvious. The game room is fabulous although the weather was so great during our stay we enjoyed the outdoor amenities instead. The hammock out back is great and we had many peaceful and laughter filled moments out on the Saco River just steps away from the back yard. The location was absolutely fantastic, you felt in the middle of no where but we found plenty of shops and specialty stores in nearby towns for homemade products and boutique items. We were concerned about air conditioning but the ceiling fans throughout the house, working skylights and many, many windows as well as the beautiful breeze from the river quickly dismissed that concern. We attended a wedding on Saturday in Fryeburg at the Hardy Farm and found it an easy short drive away. We could have opted for the bustling shopping of nearby Conway but instead enjoyed the natural surroundings and river as well as the house which we quite frankly had no reason to leave other than for the wedding .There is a canoe and tubing rental right down the road and nearby walking trails and beaches and parks. We would have needed a week to explore it all. We would highly recommend this home which we are thankful to the owners for sharing, it truly is a piece of heaven by the river. Everything truly is better by the water. This is a gem of a home with amazingly gracious and thoughtful owners whose property manager David was at your beck and call if needed but we truly did not want for a thing ! Thank you so much to the Pelletiers, this is obviously a home built with love and for the owners themselves to enjoy as there is absolutely nothing lacking. We all wished we had such a retreat to call home. We can't wait to return ! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you ! The Goddesses of Manchester New Hampshire

Clean & comfortable

Clean & comfortable
  • 5 of 5
My family of 4 stayed at this house for 4 nights but really wished we had more. The house is incredibly clean and comfortable and really exceeded all of our expectations.

We enjoyed many amenities of the house. My kids loved the basement (with pool table, air hockey, and it's own bathroom), the tire swing (sometimes it's the little things) and fishing right from the property. We used one of the canoes to paddle around the river a bit and roasted marshmallows in the huge fire pit. The ability to plug in my ipod and play music throughout the house (and on the deck) any time we were there was a feature we really enjoyed.

The bedrooms were comfortable and the bathrooms were very modern. We loved the architecture of the house itself and the decor provides a very "Maine" vibe with good taste. The wooden and tile walls and flooring make the house feel immaculate. Cleanliness is the number 1 priority for us when looking for a rental house or hotel room and this house was spotless.

Although we didn't much in the immediate surrounding area, the house is within an hour of many things in the White Mountains and within an hour of Portland, and we spent time in both. North Conway had a bunch of restaurants, etc. and was an easy drive from the house.

The gentleman that meets and shows you around is really welcoming, and whoever does the cleaning in between rentals (they only have 3 hours) should be commended. The owner (Linda) was responsive via email and the entire transaction went smoothly.

We obviously really love this house and hope to stay again some time in the future, probably in the winter so that we can check out some area skiing. Thank you Gary & Linda for sharing.

Incredible Home in a Wonderful Location

  • 5 of 5
Six months ago, we rented this home and loved it so much, we immediately booked it for a return visit in August. Although our February trip was incredible, this visit was even better.

Just like before, we were greeted by the caretaker, David, who is such a nice guy and able to answer all questions about the house and the area. The house was in perfect condition--neat, clean, and well-organized. This is only home I have ever rented where the reality is even better than the pictures.

The kitchen and bathrooms are all beautiful, and the architecture is unique. There is just the right amount of décor-comfortable but not cluttered. One of our favorite things about the house is the pool area downstairs. There is a huge comfy couch and tv, a pool and air hockey table, a bathroom with shower, a refrigerator, and a kid’s play area. It’s a little hard to explain, but they installed these beautiful little twinkling lights into the ceiling of the sitting area. It’s really magical. There are also french doors leading out to the backyard. The property is also beautiful. In the yard there is a hammock and sand box for the kids, a firepit, and of course the Saco River.

For years, we have stayed in the Franconia Notch area, so this was our first time staying East of North Conway during the summer. As outdoor enthusiasts, we couldn’t have asked for a better location. This visit we hiked Moat Mountain and Chocorua which both have trailheads off the Kank. If you are a hiking enthusiast and have never hiked Chocorua, you must! It is relatively easy with 360 degree views at the top. We also kayaked. One day we put the kayaks in the river right on the property and paddled upriver to Lovewell Pond. The current is not strong, so it is not a difficult journey and lots of fun. We also drove to Sebago Lake, which s nearby. There we launched at the state park and spent the day kayaking along the shores. Only a few minutes from the dock there is a sand spit where you can swim and picnic. It was absolute heaven. We also spent a day mountain biking. We had one rainy day (which was great because we were tired.) There are so many little towns to explore, and North Conway is only about 30 minutes away.

This is a wonderful home in an incredible location. If Linda will have us, we will most certainly be back!
