Parents of 4 kids, we love living in the Marina district of San Francisco. We enjoy being so close to the Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge, we love the outdoors with our kids and we always have a great time on Chesnut Street with friends and family.

Fiona purchased this apartment in 2011

The Marina district is on flat land with beautiful houses, right on the Bay. The property has a 'Walk Score' of 95.

It's a very safe area of San Francisco, and close to downtown, Opera, Museums, Symphony, Presidio Park, the Golden Gate Bridge, access to Marin County etc... We fell in love with our gorgeous 3 story house with its sunny, south-facing garden and quiet street.

BETTER THAN STAYING AT A HOTEL

  • 4 of 5
Great location to transit and a grocery store (expensive) and restaurants. Quiet street & suited to older couples who want a good place to unwind after a long day of sightseeing. Could be a bit cleaner but I am a bit picky when it comes to a clean place to stay. Late in returning your damage deposit. We are still waiting after being back for 2 weeks.

THANKS FOR A GREAT STAYING!

  • 5 of 5
I spent a week in this apartment and everything was as decribed in the advertisement. The location is great, close to the sea, close to bus stops going to different places in the city and it is in a beautiful neighbourhood. I recommend this place for everyone who goes for vacation to San Francisco and is eager to explore the city and likes a comfortable place. My only advise is for people is looking for a place to stay relaxed the whole day and don't like noises, the apartment is at the ground level of a family residence, so you should expect normal noises of family and children between 7:30 am and 8:30 pm, in my case it was not a problem at all. Additionally, I had an early arrival and late departure to San Francisco, the owner of the apartment was very considered and allowed me to do an early check-in and a late check-out according with the availability of the apartment for sure. I have to say that the renting experience was very professional.

VERY NICE PLACE, BUT POORLY INSULATED FROM UPSTAIRS HOUSE.

  • 2 of 5
Pros: See the other reviews. Nice place under a house and behind the garage in one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in the United States - San Francisco’s Marina. Very clean, fully equipped, private garden, great TV, excellent restaurants nearby, and a professional renting experience.

Cons: Only one, but it was a big one for us: the apartment is poorly insulated from the house upstairs. You can hear people walking and kids running upstairs pretty much constantly from about 4-8 p.m., and sometimes between 7-8 a.m.. Our fourth night, it went nearly until 9 p.m. You can also smell their dinner cooking like it’s just a few rooms away.

If you like to relax during those hours, try somewhere else.

I’ve used VRBO about 20 times in the US and Europe. This was my only bad experience.

MANITOBA

We have just spent a week at this apartment. It is every thing it says, it is,very comfortable great back yard. The neighbourhood is perfect, any restaurant you could ask for even a cinema. A grocery store is available if you want to make an easy meal.It is ideally located for public transport. We purchased a Clipper Pass for seven days the best deal you can imagine for sight seeing, a car would be a hinderance if you do not intend to leave the city.
The couple of minor problems we had were quickly dealt with.
If available on our next visit we would stay here again

GREAT SPOT IN SAN FCO!!

  • 5 of 5
The place is clean, modern and fully equipped with everything you need. It has a large TV and a comfortable/cozy bed. It's perfectly located in the Marina District in a peaceful steet - four blocks south of Marina Blvd and two blocks north of Chestnut street where you will find everything you need restaurants, coffee shops, groceries, deli, some shopping and bars; The bus connections to talke you anywhere within the city are a short walk away.

The only negative comment we have of the studio is that it felt like its poorly insulated. During our stay the temperarute was between 34 - 42 degrees F. We felt a draft of cold air coming from from the bathroom; the perimeter walls were also cold, making the heating system work against this....Regardless, I will definetly stay again in this condo and will also recommended it.

EXCELLENT ACCOMODATIONS & GREAT LOCATION!

Excellent Accomodations & Great Location!
  • 5 of 5
This was the perfect studio apartment for us! I consider myself to be fairly particular about my accommodations. Excellent condition inside and out. Beautiful neighborhood & backyard. Comfortable bed & sofa; large flat screen tv; plenty of closet space plus a clothes dresser; average size bath; small kitchen with all amenities you should need (no oven) but there is a stove top. They even had coffee & tea we could use. Contemporary & attractive décor. If you forget your shampoo & soap...no worries they have you covered. Hot tub was a nice perk to have, used it once; and the backyard is private with tons of beautiful plants & trees. The location was great for walking to some very nice restaurants/bars/markets; Seriously only a 5 min walk. Walk/run to marina and if you're in decent shape, fisherman's wharf & embarcadero. We rented a car because we were going to Napa after San Fran but you wouldn't necessarily need one. Parking can be tricky because of the city's parking ordinances but the owner was very helpful with letting us know the rules and reminding us when we would need to move our car to avoid tickets. The owners are very helpful & accommodating. They gave us a list of great restaurants to try; parking info. When I thought I had lost my wallet, after leaving the property, Fiona was gracious enough to go through the apartment looking for it! Which it turned up in the rental car! Thank You Fiona! We loved this place and the location and look forward to coming back!
