The Green Lake Getaway is perched on a corner lot close to numerous amenities and activities in the Green Lake neighborhood and beyond. Fabulous bars, restaurants, Green Lake Park, Woodland Park Zoo, are all within walking distance. The home was just tastefully remodeled into a beautiful modern open floor plan while still keeping some of the irreplaceable historic details.
The home has an open and airy feeling with high ceilings, a large inviting kitchen, hardwood floors, a beautiful deck off the kitchen / dining room, digital cable, high-speed wireless Internet, DVD and is furnished beautifully.
This property is located in a premier Seattle neighborhood and is in walking distance to numerous activities.

A group of friends rented this house and it was great for 3 couples, with three comfortable queen sized beds. The kitchen is well appointed and there is a nice outdoor deck. There is only one shower but was plenty of hot water. Best of all the house was spotlessly clean and the beds and pillows were new, clean and comfortable. We were visiting friends in the Green Lake neighborhood and the locations was excellent, and also within walking distance of many stores and restaurants.
We rented this home while visiting our two University of Washington students. We had a wonderful stay. The home was large, clean and comfortable. The well stocked kitchen, nearby markets and quality appliances made preparing home cooked meals enjoyable. There are quality restaurants within a block(highly recommend "The Dish") and Green Lake and its many restaurants and bars is an easy walk. We had no issues with owner responsiveness or gaining entry to the home. We would not hesitate to rent this property again.
We thoroughly enjoyed making this our home for our Seattle holiday. Everything was clean on our arrival, and we are very particular in that category. No need to rewash dishes before using them, and the sheets and towels had a nice clean smell. The owners were helpful and quick to respond to any questions we had. All the appliances worked well. In the summery weather the back deck was a real boon, although there were some pretty garlicky aromas from the nearby Thai restaurant, and we did hear some street/freeway traffic. The nearby corner is very popular, with cafés and small restaurants, but these did not generate noise. Greenlake is a three- to five-minute walk away, bus access to downtown is easy, and good grocery stores are 10 minutes on foot or 2 by car.
The house is clean and beautiful inside. Overall it is well maintained and modern with a beautiful deck and yard, and for being on a relatively busy street in Seattle it was fairly quiet.
Unfortunately there are several issues that contribute to our opinion that we would not stay at this property again:
I inquired via email about five days before our stay on the protocol for getting into the house on the day of arrival. I did not hear back.
72 hours before arrival I grew concerned and sent a second email that also wen’t unanswered. At this point I suspected the owners had possibly gone out of business and run off with our money, leaving my family unable to find another place to stay during peak booking season in Seattle.
With 48 hours to go before check-in I called the owner Merv who said “Brooke normally handles this kind of thing” and we would get an email within 24 hours. Finally, we did get an email a few hours later with the details on the exact address and how to access the house.
However this was a large amount of effort to spend just to confirm that we were still booked and to get the information on how to access the property—it was especially frustrating to spend so much effort on something so trivial. My other VRBO experiences had much more proactive communication surrounding how to access the property, usually providing it at booking.
Additionally, just hours before arrival Merv emailed to ask if we would like to take the garbage to the curb so that it could be picked up the next morning. I have to admit I was confused why a VRBO homeowner would ever ask this. It seemed very unprofessional to ask them to do basic actions that should have been taken care of by the homeowner or the maid service.
Finally, when leaving, my family left an item so I inquired about it ASAP. It happened to be a relatively expensive (custom) hula hoop with a lot of sentimental value for my sister. However I received no answer. I again followed up in email a couple days later and Merv’s response was that the cleaning crew threw it away. This is at odds with my last VRBO stay where were able to get an item returned to us. I can understand if a homeowner does not want to keep lost items indefinitely and they are in their right to dispose of them; yet once again I was disappointed to have to repeatedly follow up to get an answer in the first place, and to get that answer days later.
We would not stay here again due to poor comm from owners
The home is very clean, and much larger than it appears in photos. I would have given it five stars except:
1. There is only one shower, for six people that's a bit of a stretch, and it uses a single hot-water tank, so you definitely can't get six showers in a row. Also, the one and only shower is in a gabled roof, so it is at quite a steep angle inside. Not bad if you're 5'4" like me, but not an easy showering experience for my 6'7" friend who stayed with us.
2. The doors on the full bathroom, and the toilet / laundry room are french doors with some shades over them. Kind of weird if you are not a group of family members.
3. The electronic keycode was not setup correctly for us at check-in, this lead to us frantically calling to obtain access to the home at 9:00pm. The owners were responsive, and we were able to get in after about 20 minutes of calls / emails.
4. There were reed scent infusers in both bathrooms. We had a few people in our group who are sensitive to scents, but after relocating the smelly things temporarily, we didn't have any major issues.
Overall, the home was clean, well-located, and accepted dogs (which is a rarity in seattle.) The bedrooms are an excellent size, and the owners were responsive. We would stay here again, as long as we can plan out the shower schedule in advance. :)
My husband, son and I rented the Green Lake Getaway to visit our daughter for Thanksgiving. The home is beautiful, in a great location and a very comfortable place to just hang out and relax. We walked to and around Green Lake just about every day-thanksgiving day we were lucky enough to see a bald eagle! Downtown Seattle is only 15-20 minutes away and an easy drive to Pike Place Market, space needle, restaurants, etc. There are also some great places to eat within minutes of the house, one of them being the Latona Pub right at the corner and a vegan restaurant in nearby Wallingford called Sutra. On Saturday we went to a wonderful farmers market at 50th Street and University (University District Farmer’s Market). We highly recommend the Green Lake Getaway and look forward to staying here again!
Green Lake is a fabulous neighborhood near it all. The University of Washington, Woodland Park Zoo, restaurants, parks, golf, tennis courts, bars, and shopping are all within walking distance.
