St Petersburg House Rental Photos and Description

3 bedroom 2 bath 2000sqft private home with private pool and dock

This home was added as a rental property in July 2013. It has been renovated, and ready for travelers. The property owner and property manager are experienced, and have a second rental property several houses away on the same canal. (See VRBO property 428167 for more information.) This property is a L-shaped property, with a large master suite on one end, and two bedrooms on the other, with pocket doors dividing all bedrooms from the family and large Florida rooms. Those two rooms overlook the large screened in patio and in ground swimming pool. The master bedroom, Family room, and large Florida room have sliding doors and views to the patio, seawall, dock, and canal. The patio and pool are screened; the patio is covered by a roof. The private sun filled patio, leads to the private dock and large electric boat lift. The boat lift use is included in the rental. The dock has enough room for many to fish; licenses are not required from this private dock. The dock has lower levels from which to launch kayaks, canoes, or tubes. Kayaks might be provided if arrangements are made in advance. Special care has also been taken to provide room darkening shades and curtains, to allow peacefull rest in the bedrooms, while those who are not resting can enjoy the central get-together spots. The pool is surrounded by a safety gate. The family room and separate Florida room both look into the shaded patio and full sun, screened in pool. The pool overlooks the full sun outdoor patio, which overlooks the dock and canal, leading into Tampa Bay.

The two car garage provides plenty of storage for travelers. There is amble closet storage in all bedrooms, including two walk-in closets in the master suite.

The kitchen has modern appliances, and anything needed to prepare meals for groups up to 15, assuming you will invite friends and family to visit.

The rental property manager is located close by, and provides any support required, including arranging special cleaning services during your stay, if needed. The use of the washer and dryer is included, as well as the supplies.

The screened porch and open patio by the seawall allows the choice of enjoying the sun, or the cool shade.

There is a small beach and park within walking distance of the property, that has an exercise course, a dog walk, tennis courts, and a small beach and boat launch. Within 3 miles is the famous, award winning St. Pete Beach, with gourgeous sand, great water, and easy parking, 100 feet from the beach. Within 5 miles is Fort DeSoto park and beach, with great bike paths, excellent swimming and boating, and fantastic camping, with some spots right on the water. Other great beaches include Passagrill and Paradise Island.

About Ken Fisher

I have owned a waterfront property on the same street for several years, and was happy when I was kayaking past this property, and found it was going on the market. It has been fun fixing it up and furnishing it with renters in mind. In addition, this is potentially my retirement home! It is very secure, quiet, and perfect for sharing good times with families and friends. The layout invites getting together in the shared areas, while providing peaceful separation for those who need the occasional Florida nap.

Ken Fisher purchased this house in 2013

Why Ken Fisher chose St Petersburg

The house is all block construction, with a great layout. It is on an island, with two bridges providing access. The property is very safe. If you google Coquina Key, you will see that the island is relatively small. Also, the property is protected from storm surge, because the water sweeps past the island. I bought it because it is great for fishing, kayaking, boating, swimming, and napping. By car, it is 3 miles to downtown St. Pete, 35 minutes to Tampa Airport, and two hours to Orlando.

What makes this house unique

Getting into Tampa Bay requires about 3 to 4 minutes by kayak. It is possible to kayak to downtown St. Pete by kayak from the property. Kayaks are available for use, some at no charge, if arrangements are made in advance. Bring a camera, because you will see beautiful Tampa Bay shots, manatees in season, dolphins, rays, plenty of fish, and many birds, such as egrets, diving ducks, great blue Herons, and Night Herons.

Great for Families

  • 4 of 5

My family and I stayed here during my sisters wedding and it was a great value. The house is spacious and updated. The beds were comfortable and the master bedroom is amazing. We went kayaking out to Tampa Bay and it was fun, easy and enjoyable. You will see wildlife everywhere. We didn't get to use to pool because it was too cold (both outside and water temp) but it was December so we expected that. The house is definitely meant to have kids stay (we brought our three kids....all under the age of 5). Ken is readily available and he will point you in the right direction to find things not only in the house but also in the surrounding area. We have rented several places before and Ken was by far the most attentive owner we have come across.

If there was one thing we would have liked, the tile floors could have been cleaned a little better. They were clean but we noticed the socks on our kids were dirty quickly if they ran around without shoes on. That is seriously being very nit-picky about it. If you have ever had tile floors, this is a common issue.

We would stay there again, perhaps when it is warmer and we can use the pool and screened in back porch more.

There are several reviews that reference the immediate area around the house, so here is our experience. We felt very safe and secure at the house. This isn't a resort type area with million dollar beach houses lining the street. This is a family type community. In any big city, you will find nice parts and not so nice parts. I would avoid parts of Martin Luther King St but everything else we found to be acceptable. Remember, you are on an island. There are literally two ways to get on and off the island.

Owner's Response: It is great to hear that guests have enjoyed their stay. I remember this family and how much fun they had. It is great to see guest responses, which allow us owners to take action and understand the view of those who visit. This property has been rented non-stop for a while, so I am taking a time out to allow some maintenance and deep cleaning for the floors. Feedback always appreciated! Happy Travels!

Great summer

  • 4 of 5

Our extended family of 8 stayed in the property for 1 month and we had a fanstastic time. The house is really well equipped for kids with everything from fenced pool, sand toys to high chairs. We also really enojyed the kayaks and saw dolphins, manatees and flying fish all the time. The kitchen is pretty well equiped, the bedrooms are very comfortable and the linen and towels are in exvellent state. The owner and caretaker were really helpful. Lots of nice attraction near by incluidong the Dali Museum, the Tropicana Stadium and the recently renovated Downtown. We only gave the property 4 out of five stars because even tough we felt prefectly happy and safe Coquina Island is close to south St. Petersburg which is not known to be the nicest neighborhood.

Owner's Response: It is great to hear about the good times of the guests. As with most waterfront property, there is always a mix of properties, some times next to each other. My three properties are within a half mile of each other, with two being four houses apart. They are not the lowest value, but are near the higher end. In this case, the surrounding neighborhoods for several blocks are fine, and walking and bike riding is safe. However, like in many cities, depending on which area of a city you go through, some areas are higher and lower housing values and incomes. I provide in my Welcome book a suggested grocery store as a driving via point, that allows a good introductory view of good shopping, fast food, and gas stations. Most GPS navigation devices take travelers to St Pete, existing the interstate earlier than I suggest, then through the lower income areas of South St Pete via Martin Luther King Blvd. As an example, I drive that way to go to St Pete, and buy gas on the way, since those gas stations are the cheapest gas, but some of the gas station pumps do not work, and have not for a while. It is the guest's choice as to driving three minutes farther via interstate to get to the property for first view, and whether to subsequently drive downtown via MLK or the Interstate 275. The 3 to 8 mile drive to the beaches is in the direction towards the local school, and better income areas, not through South St. Pete via MLK Blvd. Several blocks away from this vacation property, still on the property island, there are also lower income areas. I have three houses in this area, purchased over several years, and my property values are increasing. I have repeat guests! Nuff said, Happy Travels!

A family event

The house and pool were very clean. The house was a great place for our family event. The street the house was on was a nice street, but I would not recommend wandering too far from the street, the surrounding neighborhood appears seedy. We will rent this house again, we had a wonderful time.

Owner's Response: Like many waterfront communities and many neighborhoods, it is good to know which areas to travel in. This house is on an island accessible by two bridges only. The saying is if there is any crime, the police will block both bridges! We often walk and bike around the neighborhoods, but like any city, there are areas to avoid. We have never had any issues at any of our three properties in this area. Our repeat renters have found the house and surrounding areas to be fine.

Best vacation ever. House is great

  • 5 of 5

This was our first family vacation, which included me and my hubby , my sons, wives and 6 grands, ages 9 mos to 11 years old. This house was great. the set up of the house allowed us to enjoy each other as a family, but not be on top of each other. Master Suite is to die for. I wanted to bring this part of the house home. The neighborhood was so quiet and everything near. Fort Desoto became our hang out.

My grandson brought his fishing poles. Nothing like waking up to a beautiful sunrise and sitting out back on the dock and casting your line. He had the whole family fishing. There were 2 additional poles in the garage, so we had 4 poles fishing at all times. We enjoyed the canal and the herons, lizards so much that my grands wanted to bring one home. We saved money by cooking, in the stocked kitchen and with 12 of us, there was enough eating space, two dining tables inside, one outside, for all of us to eat. We threw a party, barbecue and swimming. Lots of good family memories.

Having only one tv at first seemed like a problem, but it forced us to do more family things, playing cards, laughing, talking till all hours of the night. We didn't even miss watching TV.

Ken and Jina, what can I say. They were the best, so attentive! they tried to make you feel like it's your home away from home. they are right around the corner if you need them.

Will we be back? You bet, we are looking at dates for 2015. I will be recommending this to people I know.

OMG!! What a nice house!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first family vacation. We had 6 adults and 6 children from the ages of 9 months to age 10. This was the perfect house for us. The master suite was to die for.

We cooked and grilled everyday, saving money for a group so large. Having the pool was a pure joy for the kids. We had brought fishing equipment, and the new dock was the best. They got up every day and fished.

Ken and Jina were the best. They were so attentive to our needs before and during the trip.

My family thought this house was the best and can't wait until next year to do this again. See you next year for our 2015 vacation. Thanks Ken and Jina.

St Pete trip

  • 3 of 5

The house was very clean and roomy. However, we were disappointed that the photos did not accurately reflect the amenities, specifically there was no TV in the Florida room, no remote for the projection TV in the living room area and the phone did not work at all. The projection TV was also not the greatest in reception. The good news is we were not in St. Pete's to watch TV although in the evening it would have been good to have an extra one for the kids.

The lanai was a bit disorderly and we found a used bandages on the patio which was not appealing.

I would however recommend this rental property to others assuming the above issues were taken care of. The property manager was very helpful in answering any of our questions.

This property would definitely not be a good choice for someone without a vehicle as most activities, attractions and even restaurants and stores were not close.

Owner's Response: This property has been undergoing fix up and repairs, in between rentals. Unfortunately, the lanai was rescreened just prior to this rental, and the repair company left it messy. Due to storms, we were not able to clean the lanai to our usual standards. All other items mentioned have been taken care of, including a new flat screen TV, new internet/phone/cable service, and a new garage door. A new dock had also been installed just prior to this rental, which also contributed to the amount of clean up effort. We work with our renters while they are there, and were able to overcome the issues mentioned, and appreciate all feedback. This property is priced low compared to other similar feature houses, due to the repairs which were occurring. The property is approximately 90% fixed up, with only cosmetic items remaining. A new king size bed was also installed in the master suite.
