This cozy cottage along with two barns was once part of a working farm. Hand-hewn original oak post and beam construction is exposed; it gives the cottage and its cathedral ceilings, a light drenched airy ambiance. Equipped with a full kitchen, one gets the country rustic atmosphere without forfeiting any modern conveniences. The reclaimed wood siding in the bedroom catches the early morning light reflections of the sunrise. Hand-crafted details abound, the cabinetry, hand-made glass, and photography add accents to the decor.
The bucolic surroundings are a great place for respite. One can relax in our perennial gardens or sit in the shade of the one hundred year old wooden barn amongst the hummingbirds and barn swallows. At night sit on our deck and enjoy a starry night or moon shadows without street-lighting to impede the night sky.
Located in Stone Ridge, we are only minutes away from the historic village center which is convenient for restaurants, groceries, and farm fresh products. At the same time, we are located on a quiet country road. Our landscape is peppered with horse farms, corn fields and even an alpaca farm!
Did you know that the New York Senate resided in Stone Ridge back in the early days?
Situated between the breathtaking views of the Shawangunk Ridge and the Catskill Mountains; numerous hiking, biking, world- renowned rock climbing, horse riding, fly-fishing and kayaking possibilities abound. Farm to table, antiques, local produce and fruit picking are amongst only a few other great activities. Winter sports include ice climbing, cross country and downhill skiing.
Parking and Wifi are included.
A stocked kitchen, a ceiling fan, iPod speakers/dock, a hairdryer are additional amenities. Outside, we can provide a charcoal barbeque, a bistro table and chairs, lounge chairs, and fresh herbs to pick!
Please feel free to ask us about reviews from our guests! Please read what they have to say about our cottage, we have 25 at the moment!
I have been lucky to have lived in many different places. Through my training as an architect, I learned to have a great respect for the natural and built environment. When I travel, I like to understand a place through the lens of the people living there and their history. So when I saw our barns for the first time, I fell in love with them immediately. The barns and the rural landscape surrounding them are really a part of our shared iconic heritage. Unfortunately, each year many more barns disappear. We have been slowly renovating the barns on our own. Come enjoy them and relax in our bucolic surroundings!
Quiet, clean, location is close to shopping center and main roads to travel to nearby areas. Owners were accommodating and pleasant to work with. Would definitely recommend.
This was our third visit to the Hudson Valley over the past few years, and even with so many wonderful new places to explore, we didn't hesitate to return to the farmstead cottage. Lisette & Reinhold are so gracious & accommodating and truly welcome you to enjoy their "little slice of heaven" - beautiful & peaceful - comfortable & stylish - and the perfect location from which to explore all that this region has to offer. Thanks for another great visit!
My boyfriend and I have booked weekend stays at this beautiful cottage twice now. We go there to work on website projects, which the high speed wi-fi accommodates beautifully. This is the ideal place for a writing/creative retreat, as the cottage is so lovely, crisp, and clean (as you can see from the photos). You can go on some amazing walks, even just down the roads, which skirt along massive lush forests, rolling hills, cow pastures, etc. One of the highlights is the High Falls Co-Op, the cutest grocery store you'll see in your life, and there's also a handful of exquisitely adorable brunch spots in the vicinity.
The owners are such gracious, wonderful, talented people. They'll make you feel exceptionally welcomed to their gem of a cottage. (THANK YOU!!!)
cozy cottage. nice feel and great kitchen for the size of the place. Lisette was very communicative and helpful even though we never saw her. they had they bbq and lounges set out for before we got there. no worries,no hassles and very clean.great time there.
there is one drawback for those who might have some issues w/ steps/mobility - the bathroom is very small and there is a large step up to the shower stall. fine for me,but could be a concern for some.
My boyfriend and I enjoyed the perfect weekend getaway in this picturesque cottage. It was close enough to many restaurants - which Lisette and Reinhold gave us a helpful guide for - but still felt private and isolated. It is a beautiful home and has many beautiful design and architecture books that we enjoyed looking through as well.
We spent several nights in this cabin over the Thanksgiving holiday -- it was perfect for our needs. Clean, well-decorated and designed, and stocked with all the essentials. Most importantly, the owner is incredibly helpful, accommodating and nice -- her guide to the area was extremely useful! Next time we are in the area, we plan to be back!
