About Gene Pecar

I am a military officer and pilot as well as a real estate professional. I have extensive travel experience and understand the nuances associated with creating a comfortable and memorable experience in our nation's capitol.

I am also a Washingtonian and live nearby. I have a very in depth knowledge of all that Washington DC has to offer and am happy to provide any recommendations to make your stay more enjoyable.

Why Gene Pecar chose Capitol Hill

Since being built in 1880 numerous Senators, Congressmen, artists, and academics have all resided at what is now Hill Flats.

The building was previously used as a lecture hall and residence for scholars conducting research at the Library of Congress which is across the street.

Due to the buildings immediate proximity to national monuments, the National Park Service and Washington DC has designated Hill Flats a Historic building and has registered it under the Capitol Overlay and Fine Arts District. This designation ensures that all preservation is conducted under the direction of the Architect of the Capitol.

Hill Flats has been meticulously preserved while ensuring that it meets modern comforts.

If you are looking for character and historic charm there is no substitute.

So close to everything! Excellent choice

  • of 5

Although we were in DC for THE coldest week in forever in 2015, we had an excellent time. Walking distance to the National Mall and all its treasures. I would return whenever possible and stay here. One downside was the drafty window containing the air conditioning, but we were very creative in sealing it well. Then we got a space heater from our rentor, WELL DONE! Consider this rental, it is wonderful

Amazing Place to Stay

  • 5 of 5

I recently stayed at this incredible apartment by Capitol Hill and it was even better than I expected! For starters, the apartment was immaculately clean when my girlfriend and I arrived, we had no problem getting into the residence, and the property owner gave us excellent food recommendations around town. I highly recommend going to Brasserie Beck for some tasty seafood dishes.

With a short walk to the market or other breathtaking sights within D.C. I highly recommend this apartment for anyone looking to have a relaxing vacation.

Holiday Vacation

  • 5 of 5

I had the pleasure of staying at this Capitol Hill flat for several weeks over the holiday. The location is truly great and allows easy access to so much that Washington DC has to offer. It is walking distance from all the major attractions as well as Union Station and other metro sites. The Circulator bus makes several trips to Georgetown each day for only $1.00. I had no need for a car for the eight weeks I was there. The flat is comfortable and secure and had everything I needed to feel at home. Most of all, the owner and his wife were very attentive and accommodating with all my needs and requests. They have a desire to please their guests and they demonstrated that during my stay. I will be returning to Washington DC next holiday season and plan to stay in Capitol Hill and would recommend Hill Flats to others.

Perfect location!

  • 4 of 5

I had a wonderful stay recently with my family for my birthday weekend. We stayed here mid-October and this apartment was in a great location. No car is needed, bars, restaurants and sightseeing is all walking distance from this location. There is a little bit of wear and tear here and there but nothing that would keep me from renting again. When we checked in, everything was very clean and there is ample space throughout the unit. Gene was also very attentive and quick to respond to all my requests which was very helpful. Would stay here again :)

Beautiful place to stay and amazing location!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for several days early this summer, and absolutely loved the property. The owner was so easy to work with, and confirmed the reservation quickly. He also provided a great list of local places to eat and shop nearby - so helpful! The building and unit are beautiful. So clean, and well maintained. The apartment was perfect for my family of four, and we loved having a kitchen to have things on hand for our kiddos. The neighborhood was amazing - beautiful trees, restaurants and bars just steps away, and everyone we met on the street was so nice. We walked everywhere! You can't beat the location - central to everything you would want to see near the Capitol and National Mall. We loved it, and can't wait to return again!
