Sorrento Apartment Rental Photos and Description
2 bedrooms , 2 bathrooms, sleep 4 people
Built and owned by the Royal Gunderrode Family since 1896, Paradise is part of La Terrazza, the villa that defines Sorrento’s coastal harbor, crowning Sorrento´s famed coastline overlooking the Bay of Naples. The layers of terraces grand and small reflect the villa’s namesake, offering both spacious and secluded perches overlooking the Bay.
Every inch of the famed terrace is clad in hand painted Amalfi tile, spanning an astounding 500 square meters (5,400 square feet). A communal gathering space for guests, the terrace offers a panoramic view of Capri and Ischia islands, as Vesuvius dominates the foreground. A private swimming pool is surrounded by palm trees and poplars, and bougainvillea overflows the historic marble planters. A staircase carved by hand into the cliffs leads from the terrace and offers guests a breathtaking private beach access to the Marina Piccola.
Paradise welcomes you with his bright, spacious living room, classy equipped with table, chairs, TV, a fireplace and a gorgeous leather sofa with a built-in Ipod/Iphone dock station, where you can relax yourself listening your favourite music or simply enjoying the sea chant.
But the first thing you'll remark is the most beautiful, priceless part of the apartment: the bay of Sorrento: this area, as well as the entire apartment, has huge windows overlooking the sea. Thanks to these, the brightness of the morning, the fly of the seagulls, the changing colours of the evening, when the sun goes slowly down to sleep in the sea, the deep dark blue of the gulf in the night, with the lights of the bay on the background, are like eternal guests at the Paradise.
At the opposite side of the living room you'll find the kitchen, completely equipped with everything you may need during your stay (gas rings, cooking utensils, dishwasher..)
The living area gives access to a small balcony, where you can have a romantic dinner enjoying one of the most beautiful landscapes of the world.
The living area gives also access to another small corridor, leading to another bathroom, also equipped with bath tub, washbashin, wc, bidet, hairdryer and towels.
The Air conditioning is only provided in the bedrooms.
From the other side of the living room a small corridor leads to a twin and a double bedrooms. Going to sleep and opening the eyes the day after in this piece of heaven give sensations and emotions quite hard to describe. The full size windows make you feel not just a guest, but integral part of the bay of Sorrento and his unique beauty (the pictures are better than a thousand words). Right in front of the bedrooms there's a bathroom with bath tub, wc, washbashin, bidet, hairdryer, towels).
The villa, built on ancient Roman walls, is an historical landmark, and its construction marks an important period in the nineteenth century. It was built by the great German Baron Maximilian Von Gunderrode and was originally named “Villa Nardi.” At the end of the 1800s, while sailing the Mediterranean, the baron arrived in Naples and fell in love with the coastline, ultimately choosing this site to build his summer residence. In 1896, the villa was re-named “La Terrazza.” The great Florentine builder, Romanelli, reconstructed the entire villa, making it larger and one floor higher. Fashioning it in the Italian Liberty-style, he incorporated stuccoes, images of angels, flowers, fruits, marble columns and staircases. Over the years the villa was coined “the house of love” for its hospitality and spellbinding charm.
