The garden has a seating area and dining area with lovely views of the Sintra mountain. One can just laze around with a cool drink or take in a few hours reading your favourite novel.

The house has many historical sites within a few kilometres for you to visit from the Moorish castle, the Palace at Pena, Quinta da Regaleira, Convento dos Capuchos just to name a few.

The property also has a wireless internet setup.

Things to do: Beaches galore all along the nearby coast, great for surfing. Many fine seafood and other restaurants nearby, Excellent golf courses close by with an added option for tennis, riding, mountain biking, or great just to relax with its breath-taking mountain views. Historic Sintra with splendid art galleries and palaces and festivals. Unusually, for Portugal, there are many fabulous walks also nearby, both along the coastal cliff tops and in the mountain and on the hilltop mountain of Sintra. The old and nearby small town of Colares is famous for its wine, and the viticulture cellars and facilities can be visited. There are festivals in the summer in Sintra (arts and music).

Beaches: The local region is famous for its beaches, restaurants, palaces, walking and golf. And Lisbon is only 30-40 minutes away. The beaches of Sintra's coastline are Praia Grande (great for surfing), Praia das Maçãs, Praia da Adraga, Praia da Ursa and Magoito, all 10 to 20 minutes car trip from the house. There is another really big beach called Guincho along the coastal route to Cascais where the surfing world championships have been held. Around the sandy stretch of the Praia das Maçãs there are several restaurants, cafés, bars, a disco, as well as shops selling local crafts, esplanades and excellent food both in the summer or in the winter. A picturesque tramline connects Sintra to Colares & Praia das Maçãs. There are also a number of excellent restaurants along the Guincho beach coastline.

About Sintra: Sintra is a great place. The old town was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1995. Scattered on the hillside there are buildings and sites of historical and architectural interest. The most unusual is possibly Palácio da Pena, a 19th Century folly built by D. Fernando II boasting different styles. Within the old town there are several museums, including the famous Museum do Brinquedo showing toys from the past and present. The most interesting old building is the well-preserved medieval Palacio Nacional do Sintra, in the old town, which is well worth a visit. There are many handicraft and antiques shops. The modern art gallery is new and really good. It has new shows all the time. It is located in the newer part of the town. You can see Sintra by horse-drawn carriages, which will take you around the town as well as Sintra's mountains. Overlooking the town are the ruined ramparts of the Castelo dos Mouros & the Palace of Pena.

Review of apartment in Sintra (121)

5 of 5
Submitted: November 26, 2012 Stayed: June 2012
We enjoyed our stay at the apartment very much. There wasn't anybody in the upstairs apartment so although it's very close to the centre of Sintra, it was very quiet. The apartment was well equipped, and very clean, with everything that we needed for our stay. Parking is an issue in Sintra, but we were fortunate to find a space in a free car park although it was a 10-15 minute walk away. Ketan gave us some helpful suggestions for restaurants and going into Lisbon. Sintra is a lovely town, even better in the evenings when the busloads of tourists have gone home. I would recommend this apartment.

Great apartment and management company

Submitted: October 31, 2012 Stayed: September 2012
We had difficulties finding an apartment in Sintra for a two week stay but finally found an apartment managed by Done & Dusted. Ketan picked us up from the airport and took us to the apartment. He was very nice and mentioned that this location could be quite noisy. We did not give it much thought but that night the noise was very loud and my wife could not sleep. My wife called Ketan and Sandra in the morning. Despite the fact that we had prepaid for the apartment they indicated that they wanted us to be happy and would see what they could do. They found us a wonderful apartment a few blocks away. It was quiet, sunny and had a great backyard garden and patio. Done and Dusted took what could have been a disastrous vacation and made it a great one!
