The castle sits over looking the beautiful Lake Pend Oreille in Hope, Idaho. The castle has 6,300 SF of living space and beautiful views of both the lake and mountains in the area.
We live in Utah. My wife and I love to travel. We have 6 kids and 6 grandkids.
Rob Holt purchased this castle in 2010
I have always loved castles, when I saw this property and all of the beauty that surrounded, we wanted to own it and share it with our family and friends. Our family has fallen in love with the region. Lake Pend Orielle is one of our favorite places to visit, to watch, to boat on, and enjoy.
Staying at the castle is a unique experience. How many times have you stayed in a castle? The beauty that you can enjoy from the castle is outstanding. One of our favorite things is sitting on the patio for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or in the evening and just watching and enjoying this amazing lake. The sunsets are spectacular. The last two years we have started up a little fire on the fire pit and roasted marshmallows or cooked hot dogs. We have watched lighting storms and enjoyed seeing all of the stars. We love to visit the castle. All of our friends that have gone up with us, have just loved it. The Sandpoint area is great, Coeur d'Alene is about an hour drive away. Things that we have enjoyed in the area include: boating Lake Pend Oreielle, Main Beach at Sandpoint, The ski resort, traveling to Coeur d'Alene. Hiking, biking, golfing. Everything is relatively close by. Staying at the castle is just a special experience. The castle is constantly being upgraded and improved since we bought it as well.
Our family had a great time staying together at the Idaho castle. We couldn't believe how large and elegant the house was upon arriving, there were lots of cool details and features in the home that made it a unique and fun place to stay. Can't forget the views either, from every room in the house! Beds were very comfortable, pool table provided some entertainment, well stocked kitchen, and heated tile floors on the main floor were a nice touch. House is not too far from Schweitzer, or Sand Point for shopping.
A few minor cosmetic repairs needed to be done, and there looked to be some water damage in a number of rooms on the ceilings. A couple cracks in the floors, but otherwise not too bad. Some lightbulbs needed replacing around the house, and we found quite a number of big dead bugs in the bunk bed room for some reason and had to clean them up. Also had to vacuum up most of the floor on the main level, as it was not left in the cleanest state.
Otherwise a great place to stay, and would probably return at some point, as the value was very good for what was offered!
We rented with 2 other families and all had a great time. There were 15 people and we had lots of room. The Castle was clean and ready for our arrival. We did have a few concerns but the manager helped us out as soon as possible. There are a few cosmetic repairs needed, such as repairs to some windows, bed frames and you need to get rid of the wasp nests. But overall a great place to relax and enjoy the view. Look forward to renting again in the future.
The place had a few cosmetic flaws, like tiles loose and a few loose windows. Other than that the place was great! I love the jacuzzi tubs and elegant feel. Beautiful view from patio and great fire pit to sit around.
We absolutely loved our stay at the castle. We met up with extended family at New Year's so had several children there--14 of us all together. The castle was perfect--it was exciting for everyone to stay there, and was just right for our families. It is kept very clean, yet the castle was not such that we felt like no one could touch anything. It felt very welcoming and comfortable. The caretaker was quite friendly and willing to help with anything we needed. The photos on the site are quite accurate--it really is a beautiful yet family friendly castle. Some of the family had a great time tubing and skiing at Schweitzer Mountain, which was a reasonable distance from the home. The road up to the home is steep and can get icy, so our full-size van needed chains to get up but the other two vehicles with all-wheel drive got up fine. The kitchen was well stocked with supplies, and we had a good time using the fire pit. The view is phenomenal, and the great thing about the layout of the home is that every room has a view of the lake. We also enjoyed the very cool rain-forest style shower and the jetted tub in the master bathroom. The master bathroom is right in between the master bedroom and the kids' bunk room, which suited us perfectly so we could be near if our children needed anything. We loved the radiant heat in the house--we could go barefoot even on the tile floors and be comfortable. We would love to stay again in the future--it's a memorable and fun place to stay.
We spent Christmas at the Castle. We had a group of 13 adults and children and had more than enough room. We were not ever crowded or wishing for more bathroom space. Property manager was very friendly and helpful. Views of the lake are beautiful.
This is a very nice house (castle). Not too far from sandpoint or Hope. Great location. The property manager really is the best I ever had to deal with. He helped with anything that we needed and provided outstanding service! Definitely would come back again!
