About Jim

Our Family fell in love with Gatlinburg, The Great Smoky Mountain National Park, and surrounding areas, 3 years ago on our first vacation trip to the Smokies. On our 3rd vacation we came across our new found home OWL PINE CHALET, which has a 'One of a Kind' View and Bavarian Style House. Our Original plan was to purchase a house,in Gatlinburg, 8 years down the road, with the intention of retiring and moving down full time.

Owl Pine Chalet is that exceptional property. The chances of a house like this making its way onto the Real Estate Market is Rare. Normally Houses like this are passed on,within a family, from Generations to Generation.

Our family enjoys all Outdoor Activity, such as Hiking, Biking, Kayaking, Mountain Climbing, Fishing, Golf, Tennis... The Smokies and Chalet Village have it all. And with the 3 club Houses on Ski Mountain we have the pools and Tennis courts for our and our guests use and enjoyment.

Picking the Name: Owl Pine Chalet

Just the setting alone reminds us of the Bavarian Alps, in the Summer and Winter (not as much snow and shorter winter season). The house architecture was designed in the style of a Bavarian or Swiss Alps House. Names such as Apline Chalet, Alps Hause, Chalet Edelweiss...were nice names that would fit, but these were too frequently used, so we did a play on words and that's how we came up with 'Owl Pine Chalet'.

Jim purchased this chalet in 2012

Why Jim chose Gatlinburg

The following are the most important things that attracted us to the property and it's location:

1) Parking - needed a place to park that was not off street and did not require 4 wheel drive to go up or down. This house is level with the road, which is not a steep road.

2. Steps to the house from Parking Area. Owl Pine Chalet has 1 step up from the Parking Area to the House front deck.

3) View The View is one of the biggest in my opinion. The view position of the house is perfect and close to Mt Leconte. In the fall, I even get a partial city view.

4) Access to 3 Club Houses on the mountain, all with Pools and 2 with tennis courts and indoor game rooms.

5) Location to Key Roads and Activities. Location to the National Park was important and close proximity to Ober Gatlinburg (1 mile) as well as the City of Gatlinburg (1.5 miles).

An Amazing Moms and kids weekend . . .

  • 5 of 5

We came to the Owl Chalet for a Moms and kids weekend. Our two famies enjoyed our stay in the Owl Chalet so much. It is a great location with easy parking and the view overlooking MT. Le Conte is truly amazing. Sitting on the deck, watching the sun come up over the mountains was so beautiful and peaceful. The cabin even boasts a pool table and hot tub, which gave our kids plenty to do. Our rooms accommodated our needs. But the true benefit was the helpful owner. Jim was accommodating and provided us with tons of visitor information and suggestions, which made our stay even better. It truly felt like a home away from home. Looks like we have found the perfect place to stay in Gatlinburg for our future visits. We highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a comfortable and cozy mountain cabin with spectacular views and a location that is in close proximity to Ober Gatlinburg and downtown. We can't wait to return.

Married couple celebrating 30 year anniversary.

We arrived just as the sun painted the mountain a fading orange color. Before even unlocking the door we sat on the porch swing to watch some of the sunset. Mt LaConte is center view from all the balconies, this mountain we found out is the highest peak in the Tennessee Great Smokey Mountains. As we entered the chalet named Owl Pine each of us scouted the place for our own interest. We found everything needed for our stay in abundance. Nice flat screen TV's throughout, a finely appointed kitchen with modern appliances, recreation room with a quality pool table, even a picture with all the rules for playing eight ball. The chalet was immaculate, everywhere we turned was clean and organized. The great room or family room had a large fireplace and two large sofas for a group. The sofas served me well for lazy nap time. Beds were comfortable and the pillows were awesome(very important to us). We could have just stayed at the chalet the whole time but we did go into downtown Gatlinburg for some fun. We were tipped off about where to park just off the main drag and being only 5 minutes down the hill we drove down the two times we left the chalet. There's plenty of places in Gatlinburg for food and spirits, but we really enjoyed the Aquarium and highly recommend it. The chalet is properly named Owl Pine because owls are represented everywhere inside and out, from the fake owl outside to lamps, pictures, blankets and other places we missed or forgot. Owl Pine very cool. We will go back and stay again, but only at Owl Pine, it's hard to imagine a more perfect place to stay up there, so why chance it.

Gatlinburg Family Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Our two families met at the Owl Chalet with our adult children again this year. We enjoyed hiking, watching the clouds over and through the mountains, exploring Gatlinburg, THE car show in Pigeon Forge, outlet mall shopping and unexpectedly, watching a bear! There is a lot to do but most of all, we enjoyed family time and being together - the Owl Chalet was the perfect spot.

Peace in the Smokies

  • 5 of 5

Owl Pine Chalet was perfect for our family of 6. Spacious interior with an unbeatable view of Mt Leconte. Close proximity to Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort made it convienient to slopes as well as indoor ice skating. Feb is a great time of year to visit Gatlinburg, avoiding the crowds, free parking on Main St and still enjoy moderate hikes in the park. Jim, the owner, made the plannig of our vacation easy with recommendations and tips. Already planning a fall visit....

Perfect family getaway

  • 5 of 5

This mountain view keeps on giving all day long, as the sun rises and moves across the sky! This charming chalet had plenty of room for our family of 4 adults and 2 teens to spread out, and come back together for family time in the evening. Very cool layout, and the hot tub and fireplace were our favorites :)

Great wk get-a-way

Place is easy to find if you use your GPS...otherwise must do some writing down. Photos were as you found the place..nice spacious chalet. View out over the Smokey's could not be beat....see the sunrise each AM if the fog was not too heavy. Recommend this to anyone..owner especially helpful. Spent a lot of time doing shows in Pigeon Forge. Rode the cable car and can pick out the chalet if you know where to look. Loved the Old Mill Restaurant in Pigeon Forge.
