PROPERTY DESCRIPTION.

An hour and twenty minute flight north of Vancouver you'll find one of Canada’s most picturesque treasures the Bulkley Valley. Known for world class, rivers, lakes, mountains and unmatched scenery. The Bulkey Valley has something for everyone.

Whether your extreme adventurist, photographer, fisherman, hiker, biker or just want to relax and enjoy the view you won’t be disappointed.

Smithers is the nearest town to Ladyhawk Ranch 18 kilometers drive. Surrounded by several mountain ranges the Babine, Hazelton, Telkwa and Omineca, but none are as dominant as Hudson Bay, looming over the landscape. Smithers downtown area has a Bavarian style theme complimenting the mountain community. Several independent and locally owned coffeehouses, bakeries and even a used bookstore and Internet cafe offer sweet and savory items such as small meals, baked goods, and tea and coffee. These are great places to experience the mellow, but positive energy of everyday life in Smithers.

There’s plenty of shops to peruse and during the holidays the town is decorated in the traditional Christmas spirit. One would have a hard time choosing which season to visit Ladyhawk Ranch as Summer, Fall and Winter offer so many things to do and see.

Ladyhawk Ranch consists of 158 Acres of pristine wilderness much of the property runs along the Bulkley River. This is one of the few rental properties which offer privacy, comfort, river access, wildlife and unmatched scenery yet your just a short drive to Smithers.

The log home was built in 2006-2007 and consists 3 levels above ground totaling 3300 square feet. The log home sits majestically high above the river and direct view of the glacier.

SUMMER

The long days of summer are a great time to relax on the patio and grill your favorite foods.

On those rainy cooler days jump in the hot tub or read a book and relax in the cozy log home.

Do some hiking and if your a mushroom hunter keep your eye out for those delicious edible mushrooms which grow plentiful in this area.

The wildlife viewing is excellent and often you’ll see black bears with cubs, moose, fox, deer, porcupine, eagle, hawks, humming birds, wood peckers and many others. There’s little reason to leave the 158 acre estate but there are many parks and recreation areas very near and worth visiting.

FALL

Fall brings in spectacular color as the trees begin to turn bright yellow and red.

The days are getting shorter the nights cooler. This is steelhead season when the fisherman hit their favorite holes hoping to land a record catch and after a day of fishing or hiking it's time to relax next to a warm fire. The fire pit has generous seating overlooking the glacier and river. Its a great place to end the evening with a glass of wine.

Let the kids toast marshmallows as you relax under a million stars. With no neighbors to be seen and no artificial lights the sky is filled with brilliance and wonder.

WINTER

Winter in the Bulkley Valley is beautiful and filled with endless possibilities.

If you enjoy skiing or snowboarding your in for a treat. The Hudson Bay skii resort is short 40 minute drive to some of the best powder north of whistler and without the crowds and long waits. If you or your kids enjoy sledding next to the house is a road which provides a 100 meter run and when the snow conditions are right provide countless hours of fun.

For those whom enjoy watching the snow fall from inside. Sit next to the fireplace and catch up some reading or do some baking and put a smile on your kids face as they return from sledding and the house has the scent of fresh baked cookies.

Of course after a hard day of sledding and baking it's time to relax in the hot tub sipping your favorite beverage as the snow flakes dance upon your face.

CHRISTMAS

Christmas is truly a magical time at Ladyhawk Ranch.

If your memories of Christmas past include snow you won't be disappointed as snow is almost guaranteed. The log home is warm, festive and picture perfect. Sit warm and comfy next to the fire as snow lightly falls late into the night.

You can even cut down your own Christmas tree and bring it back to the house. Decorations are provided but feel free to bring some of your own keepsakes as well.

SPRING

Spring brings in the long days of sunlight and renewed life. The bears are coming out of hibernation introducing their cubs to this wonderful habitat. Moose calves, fawn and fox kits abound.

Wildlife is in full celebration as the snow slowly regresses peeling back lushes green grasses. If your a mushroom hunter May to early June is a good time to take to the field hunting for your favorite spring variety. Morel mushrooms grow plentiful in this area.

Great Family Getaway

WOW! What a find. This property is a spectacular gem tucked away in Gods country.
Truly one of the finest properties my family and I have had the pleasure experiencing.
The detail in the home, luxury with remote wild beauty all around.
My wife and I especially enjoyed the kitchen, its warm, inviting and stocked with everything you could possibly need including a gourmet six burner wolf stove.

The views from almost every room in the house are remarkable. The glacier to the right, river to the left. We spent many hours on the deck relaxing listening to the river and gazing at this remarkable scenery.

My wife and three kids have stayed in properties all over the world many costing much more. This property exceeded our expectations in every way. For a group of six or more sharing the cost, a family or couple with means, go with this house you won’t regret it.
The finishing are all first class, it’s apparent the owners spared no expense. Even the electrical and phone cables are buried underground, nice touch.

The website shows the house being close to the road. It’s not. Its kilometers away maybe they did that on purpose for privacy.

There is over a 150 acres which you must explore. The views are spectacular some as easy as a walk down the private road to the river others more adventurous but worth it. My kids felt like they were in a zoo at times with several sightings of moose, porcupine, coyote, deer, and several bears with small cubs. After stumbling on some wild morel mushrooms my kids jumped with joy at the prospect of finding more and did they ever.

We did not do any fishing in the Bulkley valley but this area has world renowed fishing. If your a fisherman check with manager on when and where to go.

We especially enjoyed sitting in the hot tub at night. It was so peaceful and quiet, it was a great way to end the day. We also took advantage of the outdoor fire pit which was very nice. The kids roasted marshmallows and chatted the night away.

On the negative side the weather was a bit cool and cloudy. If you need more sun go in July-October.

Before leaving Ladyhawk Ranch my wife and I decided to add one more thing to our bucket list. Spending a Christmas with the kids at Ladyhawk Ranch.
