About Taylor Brown

We live in the city, but are from Austin Texas originally.

We appreciate comfortable and creative environments.

We love our summers at the river and you will too.

Taylor Brown purchased this cabin in 2012

Why Taylor Brown chose Guerneville

We have been visiting this area for years and love what Guerneville has to offer. With it's towering redwoods, neighboring vineyards, lazy river, and a short drive to the Pacific ocean, we could not have picked a better spot.

What makes this cabin unique

The neighborhood has a historical musical significance. From the roaring 1920's orchestra bands to the hip 1960's Grateful Dead, Rio Nido was the hub for great music on the Russian River.

The Sequoia House is an absolute gem! It has charm and style and is in the perfect location for exploring the surrounding area. It is clean and well-kept and the attention to detail is unmatched! My husband and I can't wait to return!

Perfect Retreat

  • 5 of 5

My partner and I stayed with our two pups for a few days and could not have had a better experience. Being surrounded by beautiful redwoods in a sweet and quiet little neighborhood in the absolute cutest of houses. Every decoration in the house lends to making you feel pampered and at home. The backyard was excellent (and fenced in for the dogs!)- we definitely enjoyed time in the hammock and a cocktail in the backyard. The wood stove and the space heaters make for a warm and cozy home- and the kitchen was dreamy to cook in. Also a perfect homebase to explore the area, and Taylor (the owner) was incredible helpful and gave great recommendations. Will definitely be back!

The photos don't do it justice!

Beautifully remodeled and decorated, the photos don't do this cozy cabin justice! Loved drinking coffee on the back deck in the mornings and listening to the birds swoop in and out of the majestic Redwoods.

Perfect days away!

  • 5 of 5

The Sequoia House was even better than we had imagined--and we imagined greatness. Nestled in the funky, little historic neighborhood of Rio Nido, this cabin still feels very private and is a place all its own. Taylor has impeccable style as far interior design goes, and the amenities are are beyond satisfactory. The wood-burning stove is quite charming, but there are also a handful of space heaters available if doing the work isn't your thing, or if you don't want to deal with the ashes upon checkout. There is ample space indoors and outdoors. The fenced-in backyard made this the perfect spot to get away with our small dogs, as they had ample space to run around and explore without compromising their lives (very large, beautiful birds EVERYWHERE haha). It's also very close to the river and downtown (maybe a four minute drive), so we were able to move about. Really, though, we felt right at home and only wish we could have stayed longer. We will definitely be back. Thank you, Taylor!

Totally Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay here so very much. The cabin was even better than the pictures suggested. It is warm and cozy feeling with all the wood on the interior yet the kitchen and bathroom were more modern but suited the cabin very well. We cooked all our meals in and had everything we needed to do so in the well stocked kitchen. They also have quite an array of spices to use. My husband was thrilled to see four ice cube trays already made with ice in the freezer and a large container of Brita filtered water in the fridge. There was fresh flowers on the kitchen table and the bedside table--lots of nice little touches. I particularly loved the fluffy cotton towels in the bath and the fragrance of the shampoo and body wash they have for you, had me looking around trying to find what it was so I could get some at home!

The wood stove was our favorite thing in the cabin--wouldn't have picked a cabin without one. Had it burning 24/7. My husband got a little over zealous at times and we had to open the front and back doors to let some of the heat out! Actually, at the time, it was raining heavily outside, and I so enjoyed rocking in the rocker, with the door open listening to the rain and enjoying the lush greenery of the backyard, oh, and a glass of wine in my hand! Ahhhhh, magical! FYI--you are left quite a bit of wood, but if you need more, it's only $15 for a wheelbarrowful at Ace Hardware down the street which we got.

Plenty to do here. We went to the Armstrong Reserve and enjoyed a walk through the Redwoods. Next time, may bring a lunch and picnic in the designated area just to be there even longer. It's free if you go in on foot and they have a large parking lot to park your car, also free. If you want to drive through the park, it's something like $6 but you would miss so much doing it that way. There are many wineries in fairly close proximity, more so in Healdsburg and the champagne of Korbel is very close by. Also many beaches to explore if you like that. We went here in Feb so didn't do that but the rivers, kayaking, beaches, etc are quite popular here in the summer. We preferred to hang around the cabin for most of our time and relax, read, watch TV (as good a selection as home), and internet time (excellent Wifi). If you like to BBQ as we do, they have a Weber to use--just remember to bring charcoal and a chimney ( hate lighter fluid).

Loved it here--we will be back!!! Would definitely recommend.

Simply Majestic

  • 5 of 5

I had an immensely enjoyable time staying at the Sequoia House. I found it to be intricately decorated with everything thoughtfully where it needed to be. This was the perfect place for a retreat, and I'm elated that it was available. The owners of the property were very welcoming and provided me with a list of recommendations that were stellar. I would go back to this cabin again, and I would recommend it to anyone who cares to listen. I'm really looking forward to booking this place again.
