We've lived in Anchorage since 1984. We enjoy music and theater, dance, and outdoor activities. We love to travel.
Beth McKay purchased this house in 2009
This home is truly a special place. We are so close to everything, yet tucked back away from the street and in a natural setting. The architects who designed this house named it 'The Hidden House,' and it is an unexpected treat. We love art, and there are pieces by local artists throughout our home. The windows are large and in several rooms, you can see out of both stories of the home simultaneously, into the trees and sky.
Our home has many pleasant places to relax and gather. Our living room has a gas fireplace, and large windows with window seats. The kitchen has a breakfast table and looks out into the den, so conversation is easily held between the two rooms. The den has a piano, as well as a large screen television for relaxing and watching movies. As you head upstairs, you pass a wall of built-in bookshelves, that leads into a library sitting area. This looks out into the trees, too, and we have had countless hours reading or talking in this cozy spot. There are three bedrooms. One is 'the front room' which has a full-size fold out couch with a tempurpedic mattress. It also has a loft up above, where friends (especially kids) have stayed when sleeping over. There is a small deck outside of this room. The next bedroom is a child's room. It has a single bed with a trundle bed that can be pulled out. It also has a small loft, but it is best suited for playing.
The master bedroom is above the living room and has a beautiful large window that looks out onto trees and sky. It has a tempurpedic mattress also.
We have a treehouse with a spiral staircase, and french doors...a sweet spot in the trees, looking over the woods and Chester Creek trail. It's a peaceful perch for all ages. We've taken warm bowls of oatmeal up there for breakfast on a wintry morning,...and spent summer evenings looking out at the birds and squirrels. We've even had the joy of watching the Northern Lights from the little treehouse deck!
