Overview

Uvita House Rental Photos and Description

Two-bedroom House with terrace, jacuzzi, big garden, veranda; by beach/forest

For travellers who are looking for something more than budget, Costa Rica Holiday Home (also called Casa Mediterranea) is the place! This house is not on the beach, it is near the beach and the National Park, where the ocean meets the rainforest in the town of Uvita. The house is private and comfortable for four to six guests, this brand new two-bedroom house in a 1000 m2 garden with jacuzzi and veranda is located in the coast-side village of Bahia, only 800 meters from the main entrance of the Marine National Park Ballena and the beautiful wild beaches Playa Uvita and Playa Colonia. Its location right behind the beach forest of the National Park, only 200 meters from the Ocean, provides a daily breeze and the constant magic melody of the sea waves. The house is made of local cultivated, environmental-friendly certified pinewood. The sea breeze is reinforced by designed ceiling and wall mounted remote controlled fans in all rooms and the porch; a fresh local ceramic floor completes the cosy feeling of natural immersion. The queen sized bed is comfortable and equipped with 100% cotton bed and pillows sheets. A living room has a sofa-bed for 5th and 6th guest if needed. For the 7th and 8th guests Air Mattresses are provided. All open areas are covered by screens to stop undesired animals. The fully furnished kitchen is nicely decorated with European tiles. It forms a unique space with the living room, and creates continuity with the external porch thanks to the phantom sliding door. You will enjoy the flat screen TV. The bathroom is bright and supplied with hot water system. There is a security safe for valuables. The spacious external porch offers a table with 6-8 chairs to enjoy the sound of the ocean, while navigating on a comfortable high speed wireless internet. Or you can just hang the hammock at the veranda and lay, watching at the coastal jungle and experience the sight of a monkey or of a loud screaming pair of Scarlet Macaws! The veranda sits up to 12 persons. The external new garden is equipped with a BBQ area and outdoor shower. The parking place is private. No 4x4 expensive rental car is necessary…actually you won’t need a car at all! The village of Bahia (an old farm that became a tourist destination after the national Park was created) can be easily reached by public bus. It hosts all tour operators organising mid-day boat tours of the park or daily tours to the more distant and spectacular Caño Island and Corcovado National Park. You can hang around walking or cycling (bicycles available on request); go to the beach and take a low-tide walk to the world wide known Whale’s Tail; surf a wave at Playa Colonia when the tide raises; rest in one of the local sodas and enjoy a fresh fried fish or a natural fruit juice; or just buy some food and be back home………all within few hundred meters from ocean melody! No need of inaccessible luxurious villas anymore. With Casa Mediterranea you can make your visit to paradise possible, optimise your money and enjoy unforgettable excursions, without renouncing to the comforts your vacation deserves!

Cute House in a Great Location

  • 5 of 5

Uvita is my new favorite place in Costa rica. It is not too touristy and still has some great activities and beaches. this house was the perfect place for me and my girl friend. It is cute and cozy. you wake up to the sound of the birds and animals. The surroundings are beautfiful filled with trees and nature.

The house has everything you'd need from a full kitchen to a grill. It also has a fun jacuzzi in its garden Great place to spend the sunset!

I couldn't recommend this house enough.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your comments. We are working on some major improvement: Electrical infrastructure is being worked on by the Costa Rica Electrical company so that there will no longe be any voltage fluctuations. Also there will be light on the street.

The location of this house is perfect, you have privacy but also are close to the park and groseries stores are as well nearby. The house is full equipped, with a beautiful garden where you can relax by the sound of the birds.

We couldnt have asked for a better experience.

CASA MEDITERRANEA - UVITA

  • 4 of 5

Ned was the most wonderful VRBO host! He is warm and friendly, helpful and accommodating. He allowed us to check out late on our last day, which was hugely helpful to us. He provided clear instructions on how to find his beautiful Casa Mediterranea. The property was comfortable, and the Jacuzzi refreshing after a hot, sticky day at the beach. There is both an outdoor shower (for cleaning off beach sand) and a gorgeous, spacious indoor shower. We found the washer and line to dry clothes to be very helpful! The kitchen is well stocked. As we were on holiday from frozen Canada, we were not used to the heat, esp at bed-time. However, the location was excellent and this was a great base for us to explore the area. Thank you, Ned!

Maravilloso

La casa es muy bella y está muy bien equipada, tiene un lindo jardín y el rancho fue nuestro refugio en el que compartimos tertulias, juegos y cervezas. La ubicación es excelente, cerca de todo y a las vez separada, permitiendo privacidad.

Better then the picures

  • 5 of 5

The house it's located on a quiet dead end street, but still closed to the "touristic" (think 3 cafes and 3 little shops), and walking distance to the park entrance.

We enjoyed the beautiful garden, the Jacuzzi and the hammocks.

Owner's Response: The house and the garden is on the border of the National Park and still close to the civilization. Good news is that Costa Rica Electricity Company (ICE) is putting up street lamps and improving the infrastructure. Deadline: in one month. Of course for some real nature lovers this might be bad news.

Nice little retreat near THE OCEAN

  • 4 of 5

It was clean, the house keeper awesome.

The place private, the hammock on the porch the best in Uvita

The cool tub with jets great (no hot tubs in costa rica)

No hot water in kitchen took some getting use to.

Suggestions clean towels every 2 days at least stayed 4 days and only 1 set of clean towels, really...

no blankets it got chilly from air condition only one in the place and in the bedroom with the double bed. We ran it to cool the other bedroom off and living room, closed bathroom door so it would not steal the cool air.

3rd second bedroom needs air conditioner. Fan and light all on one switch??? So no fan at night unless lights on

4th needs floor fan for living room got really hot.

5th Pizza pan / measuring cups and spoons needed

6th lights and fans all one one switch you shut the lights off and the fan goes off, need to change this asap for living room and 2nd bedroom. Who wants the lights on to sleep so they can have cool air in the living area room? Not good

7th Internet worked intermediate but that is all of costa rica

Would I go back yes, these are all suggestions to the owners to make it better for the next group.

Easy to find and 10 mn from everything and both beach entrances.

Owner's Response: Thank you for all your comments. I will try to improve/and respond to your suggestions. This house was build with Costa Rican architect, engineer and construction staff. The idea was to create something that is as environment friendly and as domestic as possible. The local inhabitants use houses made of wood and they leave a lot of open space between the roof and the walls to have a good air circulation. Nevertheless all the open spaces including windows and doors have screens against insects. We have 5 ceiling fans and there is always a nice breeze and it actually never gets too hot. The room that has A/c does not have open space on the upper part of the room (glass) therefore does not the breeze. So due to open space everywhere A/C's are useless. Also the electrical infrastructure does not have the capacity for a second or third A/C. All 5 fans have two chains hanging, one for light, the other for fan speed and on/off. To reach some chains however a chair would have been needed. I will make all chains longer and write this information on my VRBO site to be more informative. Sorry. Our idea of towel change was twice per week. If needed more often, an email would have been enough. Anyway my apologies again. I will bring pizza pans and measuring cups next week from San Jose next week. We had plenty of blankets, sorry for not communicating well. I wish you all the best, and thanks.

All kinds of tours of adventure and discovery are nearby as well as places where you can relax and enjoy delicious food.

The town of Uvita is located next to a beautiful pristine white sandy beach that looks out onto sparkling pacific waters which are excellent for swimming and snorkeling.

Uvita beach and its immediate surroundings are abundant in tropical flora and fauna and it is a protected conservation area belonging to the nearby Marina Ballena National Park. This is home to beautiful species of humming birds, toucans, monkeys, parrots, iguanas and sloths. Between the months of July to January sea turtles arrive to lay their eggs.

The Marina Ballena National Park is the location of the famous whale tail coastal formation. Best accessed during low tide, this sand bar has acquired the shape of a whale's tale through natural erosion. Resident dolphins are easy to spot and Humpback whales pass through these Pacific waters between July and November and from December to March. Uvita is a charming village named after its adjacent river, enclosed by the Pacific Ocean and mountainous rainforest surroundings, buzzing with tropical wildlife. This is where jungle meets ocean.

Described by many as one of the most biologically diverse areas in the world, south-western Costa Rica has plenty of beautiful beaches and fantastic vistas. Of the many spectacular beaches found here, Playa Uvita is among the top six most stunning beaches in Costa Rica (Frommers). Located in the southern Puntarenas province between surfing hotspot Dominical (with plenty of laidback nightlife) and the relaxed village Ojochal (with great restaurants), Uvita is the perfect base for an unforgettable holiday.
