About Jeff Clary

I moved to New Orleans in 1993 to attend Tulane University. And the City that Care Forgot wasted no time sucking me in. As a young man, this Uptown neighborhood met my every want and need - a half block from Mardi Gras, a quick stumble to some of the best live music in the city at Tipitina's and Les Bons Temps, fine eats at Dick and Jenny's, and plenty of libations within striking distance. Now I am older, with three children, and though my needs have changed the neighborhood still provides - ice cream at Creole Creamery, snowballs at Hansen's Sno-Bliz, two playgrounds, a children's library, and pizza. And of course Mardi Gras.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Had a wonderful stay at this apartment! It was exceptionally clean, spacious, and quiet. There was a binder with all the information you could need about the place and the neighborhood/city. Everything was well stocked and checking in/out was easy. Will likely rent again in the future!

Great apartment!

  • 5 of 5

I actually stayed here in October 2013 and forgot to leave a review at the time. I was in town for a few days for business, and I had a wonderful stay! I usually stay at hotels, but decided it would be nice to have a different experience, and I'm so glad that I found this apartment. The place was clean and cozy. If I had my own apartment in New Orleans, this is probably what I would want it to look like. I wasn't too sure about the area at first, but I found that it was very close to a street with lots of shops and restaurants, which was nice. I had a car, so I was easily able to get around to other areas in New Orleans. Not sure if that would be a problem for folks without a car. The only problem I ran into was a broken doorknob, but the owner came to fix it promptly. I would definitely stay here again!

Pleasant,attractive and convenient

  • 5 of 5

Our threesome were so pleased with the location, decor and amenties available in this apartment. as the saying goes we lacked for nothing. No strangers to visiting Nola all agreed we'd be happy if this place was where we really lived. Jeff was very helpful for our early arrival stowing our bags and flexible on check out which is a plus when you are coming and going by plane for sure and trying to maximize your time in the city.If you lack an auto the bus is a short block away and frequent. Favorite new spots explored required transit but worth it ... Bachanal in Bywater, Little Gem in CBT where Kermit gave quite a performance and The Three Muses on Frenchtown. Got some amazing coffee down Magazine @ District D where many treats are served and loved Sucre as Easter.

Deep into Uptown New Orleans

  • 4 of 5

First time to use VRBO. Mostly satisfied. Pictures of the interior only are posted, 'cause the outside looks less than wonderful, but, I'd still recommend it due to size and location. I parked on the street out front each time, late on Friday evening upon arrival, then later after a dinner date, then again late on Saturday night. A minor glitch was resolved by Mrs. VRBO: the key wasn't in the lock box, so she gave me the code to the adjoining unit, key was there in a separate lockbox. Problem solved in 7 minutes (thank you Mrs.)

Airy apartment Uptown

  • 5 of 5

A meticulously kept apartment, this airy retreat just a block from the bustle of Magazine Street is located in a residential neighborhood in Uptown New Orleans, a mile or two from Tulane University. This district contains many restaurants and bars--including a lovely French cafe with wonderful croissants and coffee that is around the corner--and has a healthy balance of local residents and tourists. The owners, helpful and friendly, were readily available to help make my stay as comfortable as possible. The apartment's high ceilings and large windows let in natural daylight and the furnishings are comfortable. If you prefer simple elegance to froufrou, you will enjoy the interior with its lovely front room (encompassing a living/dining room and highly functional kitchen). Both functional and attractive, this place offers a respite from the hurlyburly of New Orleans, yet is only a block away from a lively commercial street.

Feels like home

  • 4 of 5

Was the perfect "come home" retreat after a busy day of visiting daughter. Enjoyed the décor, vintage and location. Nicely provisioned tho' a television in the living room would have made it not necessary to lie on the bed to catch the news. There was a terrible curb on the side of the unit that popped a tire on or rental car. Would be nice if this was marked so others would not have the same experience. Would easily stay again (now that I know where the tire popping metal grate is.

Perfect quiet retreat

  • 4 of 5

Great spot. Had all the provisions we needed. Very spacious and nicely decorated. Was comfy to come back to after long days visiting my daughter in the French Quarter. Only bad thing was where we parked one day on the side of the house. The curb is broken away leaving a metal sewer cover that popped our tire when we backed up. I would easily stay here again. Had all that we needed to enjoy our stay.

Owner's Response: I'm glad you enjoyed your stay, and I'm sorry to hear about your mis-adventure with the man-hole cover. The City of New Orleans has been notified about that particular road hazard, so hopefully it won't reach out and bite the tires of future travelers. I'd be happy to welcome you back!
