About this property

Private and Artistic cabin, Pet friendly, no cleaning fee

In this current time of concern over the Covid-19 coronavirus, I would like to assure all my up coming and future guests that every effort is taken to thoroughly clean and disinfect the entire cabin between guests. I have also decided to block of a couple of days between guests (sometimes that actually turns into multiple days based upon reservations) to futher mitigate any possible transmission of germs. Also understand that the cabin is private and located away from other people in a township with a small population.
Due to a recent question, I would like to make it clear at the start (even though this information is elsewhere in the listing), that the cabin can comfortably sleep 7 if the configuration of single and double beds is fully utilized, and a few more could be squeezed in if the couches and roll away cot are used, BUT my prices are based upon a 4 guest maximum with an additional charge of $35 per person per night over the 4. Now on with the listing:

ARTISTIC LOG CABIN, private and peaceful. Set into a perfect homestead property with fruit trees, berries, gardens and naturally terraced terrain. With woods and old pastures all around, the birds will herald the morning sunrise. Beautiful views from the numerous windows and porch around two sides of house; also, a large slate patio that is perfect for cook outs. Fully appointed kitchen with dishwasher, microwave and two ovens. Cabin accomodates up to 7 people, master bedroom with private bathroom, second bedroom has one double bed, one single and another single in bedroom loft (which kids LOVE). The sunroom has two couches that double as beds. The bedrooms and two bathrooms are upstairs, one bathroom is on the first floor. The cabin is owner built from mostly reused or local materials found in surrounding woods. Each bathroom is a unique work of art and you have never seen a fireplace like this one! The cabin is meant to be an example of how a beautiful, comfortable and functional house can be built for a fraction of the cost using your imagination. $200 per night, 2 night minimum based on up to 4 guests, additional guest $35 each per night.
The cabin is artistic and rustic in nature and in order to appeal to those ideals certain safety considerations are not present in terms of railing heights and spacing, steps inside and out are irregular, balconies inside and out, patios and porches as well as surrounding terrain are all organic and not young child safe. Please consider this when planning a trip with young children and feel free to ask for more details.

ALSO AVAILABLE for VACATION RENTAL: Treehouse compound. Two treehouses (one two story, one three story), cooking/eating pavilion, outside shower and firepit. Sleeps 11 total in warmest part of summer (5 in cooler months on either end), very cool! type in 802728 in the "search for" bar to find it on this site.

Fantastic place to stay
Rik greeted us at the property and had baked bread and collected eggs for us. The grounds are beautiful and it is a great area to explore. We all loved our stay at Rik’s cabin!

Loved it
We loved everything about this property including the location, quirkiness and of course Rik.. Staying there was both inspiring and relaxing. Perfect for quality family time with teens. The bathrooms and hammocks were a particularly big hit. It was almost magical and our kids (15 and 13) didn’t want to leave!

peaceful retreat
We chose this cabin to visit Vermont for the fall. The photos looked amazing and all the reviews were full of praise. The cabin did not disappoint, it is positioned in a beautiful setting and is ideal for a place to stay for anyone wanting to get away from the stress of normal life. The views from the cabin were more amazing in real life. The cabin itself was very well equipped and had some really unusual touches. The owner Rik made us feel very welcome, he even made us some fresh bread which was very tasty and left further supplies in the fridge, thank you. We loved the peace and quiet the cabin offered. The only noise being the local wildlife. The remoteness was great and we really enjoyed the star gazing, so clear. What a great place to stay. We are looking forward to visiting again in the future. Many thanks Rik.

amazing whimsical cabin
We loved staying at this cabin. The details are so beautiful. The cabin is charming and has a lovely view. It wasn't hard to get to, but it was perfectly secluded. I'm so glad we stayed here and if we come back to the area, we are definitely going to stay here again.

I am a stone mason/carpenter/artist that believes in living simply and close to nature. I enjoy creating spaces for people to use and demonstrating that living spaces can be beautiful, efficient comfortable and economical to build if you use your imagination and local resources. I think a building can have a life of it's own and impart a feeling on the people that stay there. I stive to create exotic, beautiful and organic structures that resonate tranquillity and harmony with their surroundings...... I hope you will agree.

Why they chose this property

This property has every thing that I was looking for in a piece of land: various levels, a view, open land and wooded, some huge old tree and stone walls that give it a feeling of history, water nearby and a rural feeling, and of course- being in Vermont, a state I feel a great connection with.

What makes this property unique

The benefits of this property are that it is centrally located, as I have said, 'all roads lead to West Pawlet.....eventually'. It is also private yet easy to access.
