Set in the old grounds of the Palacio del Marqués de Santa Cruz against a backdrop of spectacular views and century old trees, this exquisite apartment is all about understated luxury, comfort and peace. The master bedroom has premium queen-size bedding, direct access to the terrace and the garden, and a full bathroom. The second bedroom has a king size bed (can double as 2 twin beds), access to the terrace and water views. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, fridge and separate freezer, oven, microwave, toaster, blender, Nespresso coffee maker, etc. It opens up to the wrap around terrace and herb garden where you can find a huge gas grill to cook the catch of the day or any of the local meats. The living/dining room is comfortable, with a 40-inch 3D LCD for your enjoyment, or if you prefer to lounge outside, you can relax in the sunny terrace on one of the outdoor sofas while enjoying the water, the Palace, the Grounds, or the star studded views.

I came to this area invited some years ago, I fell in love with this old, steeped town, and the wonderful unspoiled nature that surrounds it. If you like centenary alleys and noble architecture, friendly, safe and quite town strolling, pristine beach, walks by the ocean with virtually nothing but fields and cliffs around you, fresh local seafood come to any of my luxury apartments and enjoy your time, you will want to come back.

In this unspoiled part of the Northern countryside of Spain, you will enjoy nature, placid views of surf and mountains, what many consider the best beaches in Spain, the seafood brought to you fresh from the sea, and the quaint village of Castropol, with its alleys and old manors, set on a peninsula surrounded by the sea, on the limit between the regions of Galicia and Asturias.

Although timeless living is still the norm in this picturesque village, there are many activities in the surrounding areas, from restaurants offering an extraordinary array of tempting Asturian and Galician dishes made with locally grown fresh vegetables, fish and meat – all at attractive prices- , pubs and nightlife on the town of Ribadeo across the water, to the many beautiful and unspoiled beaches nearby: Las Catedrales, Das Illas, Os Castros, Peñarronda, Arnao, Porcia, Serantes, and Tapia. All kinds of water sports are available: sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, jet skiing, and fishing (both sea and river, including wild Atlantic salmon). There are also two 9-hole golf courses, a target range, helicopter rides, karts, and bike rentals just a few short kilometers away.

If you enjoy the mountains, the stunning area called ¨Los Oscos¨, offers many mountain hiking paths with impressive mountain views. Also intriguing are the visits to the nearby Castro de Coaña and Chao San Martin with archeological sites dating back to the 4th Century BC.

Castropol is located two hours from A Coruña and Santiago de Compostela, on the Camino de Santiago, Lugo is one hour (famous for its Roman Wall), and Oviedo, the capital of the Principality of Asturias is 75 minutes away. The nearest airport, Asturias (OVD), is 45 minutes away! Castropol may very well be the best kept secret of Northern Spain! Come and see for yourself, you will not be disappointed.
