Beautiful cabin!!

We had a family group of 11 staying here. The cabin is beautifully decorated and for the most part very clean (I would suggest a thorough cleaning of the kitchen cabinets and drawers.) We loved the fact that all the bedrooms have king sized beds! A few changes from the photos: the air hockey table is gone and replaced with a second set of bunks (full size futon on bottom and twin on top. The advertised gas grill has been replaced with a charcoal grill. We were slightly disappointed that such a huge house had only 2 rockers on the decks. (We did call and they said they would try to bring a couple more but those never made it during our stay). The only other negatives I have that prevented a 5 star rating is the fact that we ran out of room in the outside trash bin on day 2. We were there for 5 nights and trash was never picked up. We called the office and were told to just keep the trash in the house, so we did have to spend our last couple of days navigating around bags of trash. The last issue was with the tv service. This didn't really bother us, but I know it would annoy some people so I feel like it should be explained in the listing. That is the fact that not all of the 7 TVs have their own satellite receiver. This means that the channels on some of the bedroom TVs are actually controlled by the receiver in another room. So some bedrooms don't have the option to choose what channel they watch. This is all clearly explained in the manual in the cabin but not explained in the listing.
I'm really not trying to be super negative. But I know I appreciate reading thorough reviews, and so that's what I try to write. We enjoyed our stay immensely. The cabin is so light and spacious, plenty of room for a large family group. We loved the pool table (the kids especially loved the old fashioned cooler in the game room. We stocked it with glass bottles of pop just for nostalgia's sake!). It was great to have the separate laundry room with full size units--so many cabins have only stackable units crammed in a bedroom closet. The fridge and freezer are a nice big size and hold even more than you would think. The decks are awesome and the views from this cabin cannot be beat! The area is nice and one quickly gets used to the 10 mile drive back to the parkway. (Side note--don't miss "Goats on the Roof" on Wears Valley road--it was a blast! All in all, we had a great time in a beautiful cabin and we thought it was well worth the price we paid(50% off)

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your feedback! I will help to clear up some of the questions in your feedback. :) We are not sure what happened to the 2 missing rockers. Its a mystery. The problem was resolved after your visit though. The porch now has 4 rockers and a picnic table. The cabin is serviced by DISH network. The maximum service Dish can provide is for 5 receivers. The house has 7 TV's. It has to do with the fact we are in the mountains and in a more remote area. So in a effort to make sure everyone has a television, we opted to have 2 TV's that mirrored the same box and included DVD players for those rooms. We thought that would be better than no television at all. As far as the trash, Wilderness has a bear proof container with 2 55 gallon trash cans. That is typically enough to handle large groups during their stays. The reason we cannot keep trash on the porch is due to the resident bear that has been spotted in the area. That is why we suggested to keep the overflow indoors. I cannot speak to why you ran out of space within 2 days. That is unusual. The air hockey table will be replaced. We have been looking for a nice one. The grill has been changed to a park style charcoal grill. It is very nice, new and has a lot of room. The gas grills were proving to be a fire/danger hazard so we opted for the park grills. Unfortunately, not everyone understands the process of gas grills. As crazy as that sounds, we have had some ongoing issues and we were advised to change all the grills to charcoal for safety reasons. I hope this has help to clear up what may have been happening during your visit. Guest service is our most important focus. We do aim to please and do make a very consciencous effort for your vacation. We appreciate your feedback about Wilderness. It is a beautiful, spacious, well maintained cabin with an incredible view. We look forward to your visit again soon! :)

Cabin was beautiful and spacious. The drive into Pigeon Forge was not bad at all. We were concerned at first, but only about 12-15 minutes out. I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone.

Fall trip to the mountains :)

We really enjoyed our stay at Wilderness Calls. The views from the porch are absolutely beautiful, especially the early mornings and the sunsets. So very peaceful and relaxing! Elvira's Cafe nearby was delicious and convenient for dinner our first evening there. I loved that every bedroom is an en suite, and that was one of the main reasons I picked this cabin. I would suggest replacing some of the towels in the bathrooms, just from usual wear. Also, put a few more rocking chairs on the porches, and maybe even a swing :) But all in all, we loved the cabin and had a great weekend with our children and grandchildren!

Our recent stay in this cabin in Wears Valley was comfortable and enjoyable, making the arrangements for the stay was also an easy process. Having said that, we did experience a couple issues at our arrival which were of concern, but the management/owner team worked quickly and with sincere consideration for our family to effectively resolve the problems we encountered. The rooms were spacious, bathrooms clean, kitchen/living area spacious with just the right amount of space for our group of 5 couples and 3 small children. We cooked all our meals there, except for our arrival night, and found all appliances clean and working well. We would suggest some updating in the cooking pans and kitchen supplies, particularly the nonstick skillets, and the addition of some larger mixing/salad type bowls, etc. Also would suggest the replacement of some of the pillows/bedding. The parking was GREAT - level space for 5 vehicles, our neighbors across the road were struggling with a very steep driveway and challenging parking so we were thankful for our safe and easily accessible parking. Additional suggestion, the outdoor landscaping needs some attention, it would make a huge difference in the first impression. Overall we enjoyed our stay and found the management/owner team to be very easy to work with and very considerate so for customer service they get a great rating. It's a lovely cabin and with a few updates/maintenance I am sure it will be a popular rental. Also, Dakota Jack's Hawg Pit in Wears Valley, near the cabin, is a great place to enjoy some really good BBQ and friendly service - a nice meal on arrival day - thanks to those who provided it :) our family sincerely appreciated your consideration. Would we rent this property again? -Yes :)
