|Minimum Stay||2 - 3 nights|
Park the car and forget about your worries. Only two blocks from Main St. You can wake up and walk to town for a hot cup of coffee and return to a fire, WiFi and songbirds singing outside your window.
We are the Buntings. And we have been coming to the Highlands for over a dozen years. Over this time we have learned what makes a visit special. Comfortable luxurious surroundings and a great peaceful location next to everything.
Laird Memory Bunting purchased this cottage in 2013
Nothing is worse then going on vacation and spending all your time in the car. We like to park the car and spend our time hiking and exploring Main St. Or Feeding the ducks by the pond.
All of Highlands within reach.
We had the best weekend! The house is perfect! Short walk to town, pass a lake and feed the ducks. It was also a short walk to a hiking trail. The front porch was great for morning coffee and happy hour. Loved the fireplace, loved everything!
This was a great little ranch for three of us. The bedrooms are on opposite sides of the house so no noise. The location was fabulous with only a two block walk to town. The neighborhood seemed very safe and friendly with lots of people walking off their Thanksgiving dinner. The fireplace is extremely cozy too. I would definately go back here and the owners made it all so simple and accomodating.
My wife and I stayed at 473976 with our dear friends and could not have been happier. The house is clean and simple yet decorated with a nod-to-the-past sophistication, harboring all the amenities one would need for a weekend stay. The Harris Lake neighborhood is quaint and quiet yet just a short walk from downtown Highlands, hiking trails, and one of the best markets I have ever patronized. The porch is a wonderful place to sit and cocktail as the sun drops or read and sip coffee as it rises. The home furnishes a vintage stone fireplace worthy of Sinatra and the Rat Pack doing a Christmas Special, drinking eggnog, with it as a backdrop. That is to say this home is seasonal and would be just as ineffable and enchanting in the winter as it is in summer. This was our first trip to Highlands and when we return, this will be our rental of choice.
Being a huge fan of the owners' original property in Highlands (VRBO Listing #425273), my wife and I were THRILLED when we discovered they had renovated a smaller, 2-bedroom home in the same neighborhood by Harris Lake. It has the same timeless and cozy design touches, the same modern conveniences (WIFI, flat screens!), the same remarkable proximity to town and activities …. but all in a smaller (and more economical) package. With an epic porch. :)
With a queen in one bedroom and twin beds in the other (plus a sleeper sofa), this is perfect for a romantic getaway, a family vacation or simply spending a weekend with a few friends as we did. The kitchen and dining room are well-equipped for cooking at home if you've got a gourmand in the family. And did I mention the porch?
I'd be remissed if I didn't highlight the attention to detail in this place. There aren't many homes -- especially in Highlands -- that combine both a cozy atmosphere with flawless interior design touches. It's like staying in a modern boutique hotel but you get an entire house instead of a tiny room.
For us, coming up to Highlands is contingent on this house (or #425273) being available – it really is the best of all worlds. We won't stay anywhere else!
