Overview

Ceglie Messapica Villa Rental Photos and Description

4 Bedroom, 4 Bathroom, sleeps 8, Five minutes from town centre, FREE internet

As soon as you arrive at the gates of Trullo Tranquillo you know you are somewhere special. Nestled in peaceful countryside just outside Ceglie Messapica, Trullo Tranquillo is a three coned trullo and lamia, once the home of a priest from where he conducted mass but now stylishly and thoughtfully restored. The property is set in 5 acres of land and consists of four bedrooms, three with en-suite, a large lounge and dining area, kitchen and four bathrooms.

Outside you can laze with a glass of wine or a cold beer under the large gazebo overlooking the pool and the land with its assortment of fruit trees, cool off with a dip in the large swimming pool. For something more stimulating there are badminton rackets, board games, etc thus ensuring that there is something for everyone to enjoy their holiday. For indoor entertainment there is a flat screen TV, DVD player, mp3, Ipod, CD, radio and a small DVD and book library.

Rest, Relax and Revitalize: At Trullo Tranquillo our English agents will be there to ensure your holiday runs smoothly.

Our “house book” is packed full of information of where to go and what to do both locally and further afield, tips on beaches, restaurants, bars, pizzerias and shops all there to make your life easier.

We want you and your family to have an enjoyable, hassle free and unforgettable holiday in the sun.

Not to be Missed: Alberobello: Unesco world heritage site renowned for its streets of cone shaped trulli; Fasano: enjoy fabulous views and keep the children entertained for the day at the zoo safari and theme park; Locorotondo: sample its famous white wines; Matera: another Unesco world heritage site where homes were carved out or rock and which were still inhabited until the 1950s; Ostuni: known as the 'White City' for its white houses perched on top of a hill.

Sun and Sea: Lying between two seas Puglia benefits from having miles and miles of coastline. Enjoy the sandy Adriatic beaches just 20 minutes from Ceglie or those of the Ionian near Taranto or the more rugged coastline further south near Lecce.

There are places to just pull up and stop, lidos with everything catered for, small fishing villages with superb waterside restaurants, night spots to have a drink at and ice cream parlours near the sea.

'We would love to come back'

We've enjoyed a very special ten days at Trullo Tranquillo - the perfect haven for our family after a hectic few months. Our little boy adored the beautiful pool and is now happy to swim solo! We loved La Locanda and La Gondola for amazing gelato. Thank you so much for making us feel incredibly welcome, we would love to come back next year! x

'Lovely view'

We had a very relaxed week together with our friends. Trullo Tranquillo was wonderful and everything we expected. Lovely view! We have had some BBQ's. We will surely recommend the house to family and friends. For the best ice cream go to Cremeria alla Scala in Ostuni. Thanks you for the warm welcome and hospitality.

'What a great place to stay.'

What a great place for a holiday. Many thanks for you kind hospitality and all your generous help. Really enjoyed the house, the pool, the grounds. Visited the markets in Ostuni, Cisternino and Martina Franca. Lots there but all great for fruit, veg, meat, cheese etc. Masseria Seppunisi (turn right after Pam) for cheese. Wine tasting, private cook and olive oil tour all recommended. The balsamic vinegar was fantastic

'We very much hope to come back again.'

The old town centres in Ceglie Messapica, Ostuni, Martina Franca, Cisternino and Locorotondo were all lovely to wander around. Lots more we could have seen, but the lure of Villa Tranquillo helped us to slow down the pace of life. In short, we loved Puglia! The villa, the people (many of whom were so friendly and helpful), the countryside, the towns, the food and the wine! We very much hope to come back. Many thanks again from us all.

We enjoyed our stay

We have really enjoyed our stay at Trullo Tranquillo. Two weeks of foraging in the grounds for figs, almonds, pomegranates, drawing and painting, exploring the local hill towns and our friend (ages 51) even learnt to swim!! We had a lovely day entertaining our Italian friends from Taranto who thought the property was idyllic. Our favourite places were: Lecce for its over the top Baroque architecture and we found a lovely cafe for lunch just next to the Basillica de Santa Croche which did the most amazing Burrata!! Alberobello is worth visiting - touristy, but magical - go early evening to miss the bus tours. Restaurants we enjoyed were Cibus in Ceglie Messapica, La Taverna del Duca in Locorotondo (set menu using food bought in the market that day).

Thank you for a wonderful holiday in Puglia

A lovely house and great hosts. Ostuni is near and too beautiful to be missed. We had enjoyable trips to the sea at Savelletri and Villanova.

Lovely stay.

Lovely stay, beautiful spot and beautiful trullo. Really enjoyed the gorgeous little towns. Martina Franca, Ostuni, Locorotondo and Leece was well worth a visit. Polignano also beautiful. Good takeaway pizza from Zio Peppe - lovely chap, great cornetti from the pasticerria just past Pam supermarket. Thank you.

A great place to relax

  • 5 of 5

The silence of the olive groves that surround the villa is the real plus of Trullo Tranquillo. We enjoyed the swimming pool in the evening and the outside area is perfect for BBQs and dinner parties if you happen to have other friends in the region. The inside of the trullo is cool even in the hottest days of summer. The trullo seems in another world but it takes only 10 minutes by car to reach a supermarket and the wonderful little food stores in Ceglie where you'll find mozzarella and burrata to die for.

Trullo Tranquillo

  • 5 of 5

The trullo is ideally located in the countryside with fabulous views where you see other trullis on the landscape. It is close to the town with all the amenities and great value restaurants. It is easily accessible to lots of other towns and the sea which makes everyday a different adventure.

The trullo has been lovingly restored and has kept many original features - sleeping underneath the cone is amazing!

It comfortably sleeps 8 adults and with it's rural location provides a relaxing retreat. There are many areas to relax in and the lovely large pool.

Trullo Tranquillo

We had a wonderfully relaxing week's stay at Trullo Tranquillo. The trullo was really beautiful with it's vaulted ceilings and exposed stone and yet had all the modern comforts. The pool was a great size and we enjoyed having our evening drinks on the terrace with the views across the open countryside. It was also convenient to access the town and all the local restaurants, shops etc. Would highly recommend it.

Trullo Tranquillo is set in the attractive countryside of Ceglie Messapica, Puglia. With the town nearby (under 5 minutes drive) and being centrally located makes it perfect for exploring the region. Miles and miles of beaches, the famous white city of Ostuni, the UNESCO protected trulli town of Alberobello, the baroque city of Martina Franca which hosts an opera festival every year, the caves of Castellana Grotte and Fasano with its Zoo are all within easy driving distance. Ceglie itself has many cafe/bars and restaurants, catering from local pizzerias to Michelin star restaurants with plenty of places to stop for an ice cream and take in the view. Ceglie also holds its own food and wine festival in July. Further afield but worth a visit is Lecce often referred to as 'the Florence of the South and Matera, the breathtaking world heritage site of the Sassi.
