I'm a retired interior designer. My husband and I moved to Kalispell in 2008 to join other family members who have been here for years. I'm a 3rd generation Montanan and love this state. I also love sharing this beautiful part of the world with the people who come to stay at Huckleberry Nest.
Susanna Eaton purchased this condo in 2013
Ptarmigan Village is a year-round vacation resort with charming homes and condos spread over 52 acres on Big Mountain. Even though we live nearby in Kalispell we enjoy all the amenities it provides and love to stay here often when our condo is available. Winter skiing is nearby at the top of the mountain.
Even though it is not a large place I like the layout and the open space the upstairs loft provides. Condo's in the trees are often dark but ours has full afternoon sun and 3 skylights add to the ambiance. A cozy little Morso wood stove provides warmth and charm. Free firewood is included. What attracted me most to this unit was the large deck built out into the trees. We often get visits from the mule deer that populate the mountain!
What a beautiful quaint, well furnished and decorated condo. The ambiance was true to Montana and we felt at home. This owner has gone to great lengths to ensure every need is met. The towels and linens were comfortable and gorgeous. The kitchen was well appointed. I would recommend this unit to anyone looking to visit Montana!!
Do not consider this unit a luxury condo. Condo was old, somewhat updated. Expected nicer accommodations. Portable a/c unit was not vented properly and hot air recirculated in bedroom which made it difficult to sleep. Unable to enjoy patio since smokers were using their patios which pretty much ruined that nice fresh air/woodsy smell.
This is a great place to stay close to a lot of things to do and see. We picked this place because it was close to Glacier National Park and it was a short drive.
The setting is beautiful and the condo very cozy and comfortable. The area is great sight seeing and outdoor activity.
Our first trip to western Montana and Glacier National Park.....breathtaking. The condo was lovely. Beautiful décor. Pretty much everything we needed at our fingertips. Good for R&R.
The condo was just as described, perfect for us. Located up the mountain in Whitefish great views, and quietly secluded. All the amenities were useful, and truly only needed to bring ourselves and clothes. Due to the unusual heat the week we were there, it did get warm in the condo, and it would have been useful to be able to lift the skylight just to let the heat out in the loft, but after a few hours in the evening the place cooled off quite nicely. We hope to be back soon, and would love to stay here again! We spent most of our days in Glacier National Park hiking, but Whitefish was a perfect place to come back too, a lot of restaurants open late, and all were very good and reasonable. Suggest Tupelo Grill for a fancy dinner(reservations suggested), Loulas for breakfast and Buffalo Grill was good as well. There is a book provided by the owner regarding the national forest trails off of hwy 93, highly recommend Sunday Falls, beautiful. We also ziplined up at Big Mountain, so fun! There is plenty to do in Whitefish, if you aren't looking at going to Glacier as much as we did. Thanks Susan
Whitefish Mountain Resort is 1 mile away. Fabulous Alpine skiing in the winter ~ 2 zip lines and Tree Walk in the summer! Great restaurants open in the summer as well as winter. SO much to see and do!
