About Rose Hogan

After getting married and moving into my husband's home, we decided to make Lalaland a vacation rental. It is such a beautiful and special place, I could not even consider selling it! I hope my renters enjoy the tranquility, beauty, aesthetic spirit, and joy that I find here.

Rose Hogan purchased this house in 2002

Why Rose Hogan chose Canandaigua

There is a special feeling in this area. The air is clean, fragrant and the views of the hills and vineyards are wonderful. I was impressed with the beauty of this old house, where modernization did not remove the charm of this 1898 Victorian. The Naples community are friendly, artistic and musical folks who take pride in their town and businesses.

What makes this house unique

I love the 'feel' of an old house, yet am spoiled by modern comforts! I love sitting in the library, looking out at the view. The widow's watch feels like being in a tree-house.Sitting up there, watching the moonrise or sunrise, or a thunderstorm coming in, is an amazing experience.

The side deck and swing are a great place to watch the birds or deer, or have a glass of wine as twilight sets in. The night stars here are magnificent- no street lights dim the skies!

There is plenty of activity and entertainment close-by, but then you can come home to old-world serenity and comfort. Truly the best of both worlds.

Very enjoyable stay

  • 4 of 5
Recently my 80 year old mother, two brothers, their spouses and I stayed at Lalaland for the weekend. The house was charming and provided us with the perfect weekend getaway. I would recommend this home and the lovely owners to others looking to enjoy the beauty of Naples, Canandaigua and surrounding countryside.

Wonderful visit

  • 5 of 5
My parents, two siblings, my 6-year-old and 8-year-old, and I stayed in Lalaland for three nights while visiting relatives in the Finger Lakes area. It was a perfect hub for all of our activities (visiting Canandaigua, exploring Grimes Glen, etc.) with plenty of space for spreading out and relaxing. Rose welcomed us upon our arrival with lots of helpful insights into the area and gave us a tour. She also provided samples of some local fares: soaps, trail mix, and (of course) grape pie. The children LOVED the widow's walk, and we spent a good amount of time lounging and reading there. The music room full of unique instruments and the hot tub were also big hits. Linens and bedding were plentiful and comfortable. Rose had just added a window air conditioner in the master bedroom, but the rest of the house was very comfortable without AC. It was a particularly buggy season due to recent rains, so Rose even made sure that we had supplies to ward off the insects. The kids have already asked when we can stay in Lalaland again!

Serenity!

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I recently enjoyed a stay a lalaland for our wedding anniversary. We both had such a fantastic time, and left feeling refreshed and so relaxed. The house is placed perfectly in the town of Naples- close to everything, but set off the road and surrounded by natural elements so that you feel as though you are in your own little world. We had a great time exploring Naples- shopping the farmer's market, looking at antiques and artisan shops, driving around the town, going out for ice cream, etc. I love outlet mall shopping, and had fully intended on visiting the outlets at Waterloo (less than an hour away), but was having such a great time in Naples that I decided to forget about it. The house is so rich with history and character and charm that we would have been happy just staying there the entire time. It is decorated beautifully- it was fun walking through every room and guessing the stories behind everything- from the bedding and the draperies to the pictures on the walls and the fixtures. The master bed was so comfortable. There were plenty of clean linens and towels, and the hot tub was the icing the cake. The weather was beautiful and we often found ourselves sitting and chatting in the yard or on the patio swing. The house had all the amenties of home- basic cable, wireless internet, dishwasher, washer/dryer, etc. The owner was gracious and helpful, and we were sorry to leave. My husband and I plan on returning to lalaland in the future. I imagine that each season would bring a whole new set of great memories and reasons to return.

Awesome vacation house

  • 5 of 5
We, 2 families of 5 adults, stayed in Lalaland for 3 nights and almost 4 days. We loved this fabulous house, a unique place to spend time in the beautiful area of fingerlakes and close to Cayuga lake. The owner is very kind and generous, she could have not been nicer. Communication with her was so easy before our arrival, she made us feel extremely welcome, made sure we are comfortable and provided us with all the information and maps for the area. Everything in the house was so clean with amazing decorations, new towels, a closet of bed sheets, towels and extra blankets. All 3 beds are so comfortable and there are lots of space in the bedrooms. Free wifi worked really well. The furniture on the first floor are also very comfortable. We enjoyed having breakfast sitting in the big garden with beautiful plants and roses. Kitchen has all appliances, dinning room is very beautiful. A great collection of books and movies with TV and free high speed wireless internet make the house more special. No need of an air conditioner as the house has a lot of doors and windows, all have mosquito window net. We enjoyed hiking trails in the neighborhood as well as beautiful town of Geneva. An easy drive to more waterfalls in town of Ithaca and great winery on the way. Great location, nice surroundings made our staying so sweet. We have nothing but great things to say about the place, the price is very reasonable. Highly recommend others to stay at Lalaland.
