CHARMING COTTAGE OVERLOOKING SOOKE RIVER

Sooke Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Spring Update - Flowers are starting to bloom. It is a great time to visit the West Coast. Special low season rates.

Located on the banks of the Sooke River, this great vacation home is minutes from delightful country walks, ocean and mountain vistas, and some of the best fishing and whale watching in the world. Inside, there are amazing views of the river from three sides of the cottage. Close to the Galloping Goose Trail and the Sooke Potholes, cyclists and walkers can enjoy the gently winding trails free of road noise. In fall, you can watch the salmon spawning along the river or in Charters Creek which also boundaries the property. After enjoying the outdoors, you can curl up in front of the fire and enjoy the sound of the rippling river in this private, country setting.

The 920 square foot cottage has one bedroom with a new queen sized bed, bathroom with tub, full kitchen, dining room, family room with TV, sitting room with new double sofabed and a large deck. The vacation home rental includes local phone calls, basic cable and internet.

Formerly known as the Dutch Retreat, the property is under new management and has undergone renovations.

We are teachers, one of us retired, who like a quiet country lifestyle where we can enjoy the outdoors.

Cheryl and Allan Tradewell purchased this cottage in 2012

The property is bordered by Charters River on the north side and Sooke River on the west. We love the sound of the rippling water. Combine this with beautiful mature landscaping, being near the ocean, and the proximity to the amenities of Victoria; we think it is the perfect place!

Privacy and Natural Beauty.

Two of us spent three nights at the Cottage and would return any time. It is a well-appointed, very clean, comfortable, quiet and private cottage situated very nicely relative to both the owners' nearby residence and the river. The outdoor deck is a good size, nicely furnished, and next to lovely green space and gardens. The owners were gracious and helpful. This rental is excellent value.
Owner's Response: Thanks for the review! We are glad you enjoyed your stay and look forward to hosting you again some time.

Wonderful accommodating VRBO. It is a cottage behind the owners home.
Location accurate. Pictures do not do it justice you have to see it to believe it. Property was very clean/well maintained. Very helpful with attempting to get auto service. I would like to keep it a secret and not tell anyone but that would not be fair to the owner.

There is great privacy with nice lawns in the midst of many large trees with running water in the creek. It is a great location off of the Galloping Goose bicycle trail and close to Sooke. Sooke is a hidden gem from many. There is a kayaking/bicycle rental in town specifics can be found from Visitory information center or the owner of the VRBO. They delivered the bikes to the cottage. If you know your size ahead it would help them If you want specialty pedal bring your own. WIsh that we could have spent more time there. Did not kayak the Sooke Harbour it was a bit chilly for a warm blooded family. Enjoyed the hike on the Whiffen Spit wales were spotted the day before we got there. Did ride bikes up the Sooke Pot holes kids found the water to be a bit chili. The Goose trail was a bit of a challenge for a younger flatlander. The second day went to Matheson Lake it is flatter course except at the bridges and roads. The Galloping Goose trail is less than 1 KM from the VRBO. In General Sooke was a wonderful retreat from the hustle and bustle from the tourist crowds in the City of Victoria. The cottaige was nestled Off the road virtually no road noise. There was some construction in the forest making a salmon path

Two large grocery stores. A Cycling shop (closes at 530) The visitor center/museum informative.
Below if part of the party is not adventure seeking it is a great place to just hang out.
