This property is a lake and golfer's paradise on Lake Bertha on the Whitefish Chain. Multi-family fun entertainment area with golf, boating, cinema's, shopping, biking, hiking, tennis close by, great restaurants, fireplace-indoor and outdoor and too many amenities to list. The home has an up north décor and plenty of space. Upstairs has it's own wing. The basement has a game room with a work-out area. Bedrooms are large. Nice serene setting. This home is great for a large group or multiple families. Can sleep up to 10 plus.
Paul and Angela Sandelin, owners. We want to share our lovely home and it's amenities with people who enjoy vacationing in a nice area.
Paul Sandelin purchased this house in 2004
We love the area. We enjoy the beauty of the pine trees and lakes and yet have accessibility to the things we enjoy doing within a short distance from our home. For example: golfing, boating, shopping, going out to a nice restaurant, tennis courts, biking trails and enjoying going to a movie theater within 4 miles.
We enjoy having space. The home is large and has a beautiful yard to admire and for kids to play. Nice quiet neighborhood on Lake Bertha which is part of the Whitefish Chain.
My family has vacationed at MN resorts for 30+ years. This year we tried VBRO for a change. We had a wonderful time. This home is at the end of the road, surrounded by timber, so it's very private and quiet. Great yard for cook-outs and activities. The lake is a short walk or ride (golf cart included w/home) down a path. The beach area was perfect for kids and adults. The sunsets are beautiful from the beach. The owners of the home are delightful and extremely helpful. We found the house clean and very well kept. (I'm not always the easiest to please.) This home has everything!! We loved our month in this beautiful home and MN.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us. We had a wonderful time with the kids, spending most of our days on the water...and we were able to get all 6 of us up on wake boards so we are feeling pretty good about our lake stay! Bertha Boat works was wonderful. Lakes are gorgeous. Very fun and relaxing. Great weather. Beautiful home. Peaceful surroundings. Lovely. We would love to come back again another time.
We just returned from a long weekend stay for my wife's 30th birthday with some of our close friends. The place definitely exceeded expectations and was the perfect venue! Had a blast playing yard games in back on the flat back yard, bbq'd and enjoyed the outdoor fireplace. The downstairs theater room was PERFECT for watching the WILD game too!
As stated in other posts, it is not on the water, but the 2 min golf cart ride down to the beach is not a problem. Played 18 holes of golf at the nearby Whitefish course, which was great as well while the ladies went into Nisswa for some shopping.
Plenty of room for 8 adults and 3 infants under 6 months old.
The cabin was very clean and the owners were responsive and easy to work with.
Thanks for opening your doors for us to make a great memory!
I could go on about this beautiful home and area, but here's the highlights:
Owners - Professional, friendly, accommodating, prompt responses, one of the best we've booked with.
First Impression - WOW! First class and it's so much more than pictures can capture.
House - Spacious, clean, a variety of comfortable seating areas, everyone said their beds were very comfortable, amenities galore, gorgeous landscaping, private feel, kid friendly with upscale design, did I say WOW?
Lake Activities - The house isn't on the lake nor is there a view of it, but owners have a golf cart that you drive down to the lake (or a 5-10 min walk, but its across the street and downhill on a gravel path so it may be hard for some). The connected lakes are all gorgeous. There's fun fishing for kids off the dock while the adults hang out by the fire pit. We also easily caught fish off the boat. (The local bait store folks gave us tips on best lures for various fish and areas). There's many rental options for activities like boating, jet skiing, etc. They're pricey, but worth it because of the space and beauty of the lakes. For what it's worth, it took us about a half hour on the lake to get from the rental place to the house to pick up the kids.
Swimming - The water is clean and sandy with a gradual decline towards the end of their private dock. Great for little ones. After the dock there's a waist/chest high weed line that we tried to swim over to find the sand again, but couldn't so no adults or teens went swimming. There's a public beach somewhere, but we didn't get there.
Recommendation: Bring or rent a boat (book well in advance). The pontoon we rented looked brand new, but late booking only let us have it for 1 day. Great downtown "touristy" shopping 20 minutes away, and there's a really fun miniature golf course nearby too.
If I could change anything: We would have rented the boat earlier to have it for longer. It was a shame not to spend more time on the lakes, especially for our teens. I would have liked to use newer cookware, not professional, but a complete set since we prefer to dine in than out.
Go or No Go? Book it, quick! Hands down we would stay there again.
My wife and I arrived at this beautiful lake home in mid August.
The house was huge! Amenities galore and room for family and friends. The house was beautifully decorated and helped set the mood for lounging on those lazy summer days. The landscaping around the home was stunning. The owners take great pride in maintaining the property inside and out.During our stay, the weather was perfect for long days at the beach; 90+ degrees on most days.
We especially enjoyed the private beach. Every day, we would load up the golf cart with towels and water toys and make the short trek down the gravel path to the beach.
The area was serene; not as crowded as the typical summer lake towns.
We look forward to our next stay at this fabulous lake home.
This property is the ideal place to have a family gathering or even a fun vacation with some close friends. Not only is the property spacious, beautiful and tranquil, the Sandelin's are amazing owners that make the whole vacation experience wonderful! I suggest this amazing location for anyone looking to find that perfect getaway at anytime of the year.
Travel by boat to restaurants with beach volleyball at Zorbaz Pizza and Mexican restaurant and fine dining at Manhattan Beach Lodge, camp at the Big Island on the Whitefish Chain, many summer camps for kids to attend on the Whitefish Chain, surrounded by great golf (Whitefish Golf Course walking distance, Deacon's Lodge 5 miles) and shopping. Marina for boat rentals just down the shore on Lake Bertha. Mini golf at Wild Wedge golf course for the kids. Tourist area that has many athletic events/races during the summer. Fabulous snowmobiling, cross country skiing. Down hill skiing twenty miles away at Ski Gull. Sunset Cinema Theatre within 4-5 miles of property. Marina with boat rentals located down the shore. Great bike trails including the Paul Bunyan Trail. Great family getaway.
