Tropical Getaway near the Beach!
This light and airy 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath home has a wrap around deck and expansive French doors that lead from every ground floor room to an outdoor space.
Enter the private gate and you will be in a tropical paradise, surrounded by lush palms, fiery bougainvillea, and tropical ambiance. Here you can be part of the downtown scene while enjoying peace and serenity. The pool is surrounded by wood decking with plenty of space for you and your family to get some sun. At the side of the house is one of two outdoor showers where you can wash off the salt from ocean swimming, or freshen up in preparation for an evening out just blocks away.
First Floor Living Room
You will enter the house through enormous, custom-made sliding French doors that lead into the spacious and bright living room. An original stained glass panel funnels colored light onto the cocktail corner. Here, a retro drinks cabinet filled with all the necessary accouterments for parties sits next to a soaring, modern Italian light that dangles above a white leather Barcelona chair. This area invites you to either relax with a drink or with a book while enjoying the view of the pool and the lush outdoors. To your right is a cozy hang-out corner, where big blue couches and sumptuous embroidered pillows make it the perfect spot to watch the flat screen TV or sit and chat. The furniture presents an eclectic mix of modern and vintage. Throughout the house the pine and bamboo flooring has been stripped and restored to its full, gleaming splendor. Every room has its own ceiling fan, making air conditioning optional if you prefer fresh ocean winds.
Second Floor Master Suite
Here you will find a unique and modern take on the bedroom suite that captures all the old world charm of this home while giving it the feel of a five-star hotel room. This loft-like master bedroom on the second floor is so lovely and private, you may not want to leave to go to the beach or the many restaurants just minutes away. Sink into the huge King-sized bed and enjoy cable TV on the flat screen TV. Open the French doors that lead to a Private second floor deck and take an outside shower while watching the setting sun through the green palm fronds. Alternately, you can enjoy an indoor shower in the marble-encased glass stall, or bathe in the huge bath tub. A WC in its own little room provides privacy and allows light (and cross breezes) from the two side windows to reach across the room. A large desk area tucked under the eave makes space for quiet, uninterrupted work. Wireless internet is available throughout the house.
Second Floor Bonus Room
Duck into a small hallway off the Master Suite and into the Eave. You will find a Bonus Room hidden up here with 2 Twin mattresses. For those families with teens they can enjoy this comfy and pristine sleeping nook for two. This secret area is both charming and functional: the turquoise light from the pool just below bounces off the ceiling, and, looking out the row of windows you can gaze at the ocean just a few hundred feet down the road.
First Floor Guest Bedrooms
There are two bedrooms on the ground floor. A guest room with two twin beds and a crisp turquoise, black and white color scheme is compact and inviting. Huge French doors lead to an expansive side deck. A half bath is just off the living room area.
The second bedroom has a Queen-sized bed, its own television, and an En Suite full bath with Glass and tile shower. You will be surrounded by soothing white, but for a landscape painting punching up the color. Also, French doors lead outside to the deck, offering the opportunity to sleep in a comfortable, cooling breeze, if you so choose.
First Floor Laundry
A separate laundry room makes having fresh laundry at all times easy as pie.
First Floor Kitchen
In many ways, the kitchen is the heart of this inviting home. Everything from the rustic Spanish tiles on the floor to the big French doors and huge windows make this spacious room attractive and bright. A huge, blue-tiled island allows the chef to prepare masterpieces while chatting with friends and family at the country-style dining table that comfortably holds eight people. Or, you may cook while still conversing with friends and family in the living room or cocktail area: the open floor plan can accommodate both privacy and communal living. Providing everything a home cook might want, this kitchen is perfect for those who prefer to entertain at home, or also those who just want to laze around reading the papers and drinking freshly brewed coffee. Whimsical chairs painted in island colors add a fun note to this cozy spot.

The service we received from Carlos the Concierge from Historic Key West Vacation Rentals was excellent. Whenever we had a question he either answered the phone or called us back immediately, even during off hours. He was great! There was a slight problem with a leak that really did not cause us any problem. I called Carlos and he was there within a half hour. He got a repair person to fix the leak within a couple hours. We really loved the location, the privacy, the openness of the house, the pool, the cleanliness, and all of the amenities provided with the house. We have already booked the house for a month next winter and are looking forward the visit in 2015.

ABOUT THE HISTORIC OLD TOWN KEY WEST NEIGHBORHOOD:
The heart, and some would say the soul, of Key West is Old Town. Originally the city’s center, Old Town is today the central location for Key West’s historic district and tourist destinations.
Old Town’s Duval Street, which stretches from the Gulf of Mexico to the Atlantic Ocean is the main artery in Key West. Intersected by Truman Avenue, Duval Street provides the backbone from which Key West’s historic homes, seaport and cultural centers extend.
Old Town, particularly those areas North of Truman, is the neighborhood most people think of when they think “Key West.” Its homes are modest bungalows and magnificent mansions that live side-by-side along Fleming, Eaton, Margaret and Southard.
Old Town is generally the area west of White Street. Locals divide Old Town into two parts: South of Truman and North of Truman. Bahama Village, the neighborhood settled by Bahamian immigrants, is officially part of Old Town and it has maintained its character and distinctive Bahamian culture.
Old Town reflects the island’s long history as a seaport and cigar manufacturing town. Wealthy landowners built the magnificent Victorian and Gothic mansions surrounded by the small cottages that have become quintessential Key West. Since the 1970s, renovation and restoration of these homes has been a major part of Key West culture.
Beautifully updated inside and historically significant outside, these homes reflect the partnerships among homeowners, architects, builders and landscape professionals.
Strict construction and architectural guidelines and restoration and renovation consistent with Key West’s history have ensured Key West’s Old Town maintains its exceptional sense of place.
