Bainbridge Island House Rental Photos and Description

2 Bedroom, 2 Bath with Sound, Mt. Rainier, & city views

Come and enjoy our Waterfront Beach Cottage.

The cottage is located on Puget Sound with stunning southern views of the water, Mt. Rainier, and Washington State Ferries. It is a great place for a stress-relieving break or more active pursuits.

One of the things we enjoy most about our cozy cottage is watching local wildlife. Bald Eagles are easily seen from the home and deck. Seals, sea lions, cranes, and other critters pass by daily. Orcas played off our beach in June 2013. What a treat!

At low tide, throw on your water shoes and head to the beach to visit tidal pools brimming with colorful starfish and sea anemones. It’s great for anyone with a curious mind and young at heart.

Our location benefits from being situated along a popular maritime route and with Mt. Rainier as a backdrop. The water is studded with ferries, naval ships (including aircraft carriers and submarines), ocean-going ships, sail boats, yachts, kayaks, and even paddleboards. If you like, you can use our 2 kayaks to explore yourself!

Another option is to use our five (5) hybrid/mountain bikes to ride along the largely flat South Beach Drive into Ft Ward and on to Lynwood Center. Lynwood Center has an art house theatre, bakery, restaurants, cafes, boutiques, ice cream, small grocery, and a Sunday farmers' market.

Visit Winslow, the Island's primary shopping district and only a short drive away. You'll find everything you may need including groceries, retail therapy, movies, and many excellent restaurants and pubs.

If you want to play golf there are several in the vicinity.

If gambling is your fun, a casino located just off the north end of the Island. For cycling enthusiasts, Bainbridge Island is a well known bike riding destination.

The Island Also offers numerous trails and walks including one just up Toe Jam Hill Road and others at the foot of Blakely Harbor, as well as numerous others throughout the Island.

The Island is home to several wineries and a distillery if you are interested in tasting some of our local products.

Or, if you are just looking to get a break from it all, you most certainly can find relaxation and a retreat in our cottage all by itself. No need to leave.

All rooms have water views. The cottage features a beautiful and extremely well-equipped Kitchen.

The very comfortable Living and Dining rooms provide captivating views of the comings and goings on the water and the lights from West Seattle. In the evening, the illuminated ferries will remind you of Christmas tree ornaments.

The 2 Bedrooms have queen beds, flat screen TVs, and hummingbird feeders that attract birds from dawn until sunset – year round.

Both Bathrooms have skylights. The Master Bath has a low curb, walk-in shower with a small seat. The Main Bath has a claw foot tub where you can relax, watch the sky and trees above.

The deck enjoys sun during the morning and early afternoon and then shade in the afternoons. Relax on the outdoor furniture, have a sun-filled breakfast or lunch and watch the eagles soar past.

Continue down the steps towards the water for areas where you can sit and enjoy views of Seattle skyline, relax in a two person hammock, enjoy the fire pit, paddle kayaks, or hop down to the beach to explore tide pools and collect shells and cool rocks at low tide.

About Deb Fussell

We split our time between Seattle and Bainbridge Island truncated by attacks of wanderlust. We enjoy sharing what we love about Bainbridge and Seattle.

Deb Fussell purchased this house in 2004

Why Deb Fussell chose Bainbridge Island

What a view!!! From the moment we walk through the front door , we were stunned by the views of the Mountain and the Sound. Our original plans were to re-build and modernize the cottage, but instead, we improved it and still love it.

We at times since owning the Cottage have lived here and also commuted to work from the island. We have found that the cottage is a fantastic place to 'chill' or 'get jazzed'.

We love being away from it all, but can drive a short distance into Island centers - Winslow or Lynnwood where dining, pubs, entertainment and shopping options are numerous.

Additionally, Seattle is just a short ferry ride away.

What makes this house unique

This place puts the 'C' in Cozy, the 'FUN' in Functional, and provides a bead on maritime and wild life comings and goings.

Its a great place to enjoy the Pacific Northwest at its best. Whether from the comfort of the cottage, the expansive deck or down by the water, this is the place for you.

The kitchen is well-equipped and provides a good place to closely watch hummingbirds feed right in front of the kitchen sink. Too cool!

The living room is nicely decorated, and comfy. It benefits from large windows that provide a fantastic view. The expansive wrap around deck provides a bird's eye view of the water, the mountain, wildlife and maritime traffic.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The review I am posting is from an email I received after the guests were there a couple of days. This is just what they needed:

"OMG! We spent the first hour, speechless. The pix on the website DO NOT do the cottage justice. We peeked around the corner when we arrived and My Sweetie kept saying “are you sure this is it?!” When the code opened the door, it felt like a magic trick.

This is the nicest, most beautifully appointed place we have ever stayed. EVER.

You have really thought of every imaginable creature comfort and your attention to the little pleasurable things is off the charts. Orchids? Q-tips? Half and half? Kosher salt? Check check check check. The way light floods every room is genius planning. A-plus girl.

We have not even left the property yet. Not once.

Our children are calling and texting. We are using a rock/paper/scissors system to decide which one of us returns those calls. We do not miss them. We are sending them pictures of the vista of the deck and laughing at their misfortune. We were not this cruel when we left Texas. But we haven’t had this much sleep in a long time.

My big plans for the day are a haircut and ice cream at Mora’s. My wife is wearing the bathrobe you provided as a uniform. I don’t know why she bothered to pack other clothes. I can’t go more than an hour without thinking a nap sounds good. My current schedule is: snack, nap, freshen drink……hmm….sleepy…… repeat. You might as well block this week off for us every year. We are now family. "

Stunning surprise

  • 5 of 5

We have visited Washington for the past

15 years and spent several of our trips on Bainbridge island. This trip was special in that we wanted to experience the "rainiest" month, and happily we were able to stay 30+days. The South Beach cottage is so sweet, cozy, and extremely well equipped. It's quiet location tucked away at the southern most part of the island offered stunning Views of Mt.Rainier, hourly ferry crossings,

Naval and Coastguard activities,gorgeous

Morning sunrises, and have I mentioned wildlife...Eagles,Otters,seals,and all kinds of water fowl. Debbie and Rico were the most gracious of hosts' and incredibly helpful with everything from hikes to baby sitters. They were the KEY to a seamless time on the island. We are missing it and WILL return to the South Beach Cottage soon.

Awesome little cottage

  • 5 of 5

Everything was delightful from the incredible views to the wood stove and the cozy bedrooms. Deb did a wonderful job of having the place prepared and was readily available when we needed to ask questions, etc. The kitchen was very clean and well organized with good quality products from the stove, frig on down to pots, pans and sharp knives (my daughter who is very picky about the knives and usually travels with her own was very impressed by this quality). We cannot say enough positive things....we loved every minute and would gladly return! We have stayed in various VRBO spots over the years and this is by far our favorite!!!

amazing waterfront cottage

  • 5 of 5

Staying at Deb's waterfront cottage was a dream come true. We stayed the first week in November and wish we were still there! Not only does the cottage have beautiful views of the Sound, the beds were amazingly comfortable- making it hard to get up in the morning :). Sitting on the deck drinking a cup of tea (thoughtfully provided by our hostess), watching eagles fly overhead, river otters play on the beach and a seal swim by.... who could ask for more? Washing dishes was even fun as the hummingbirds frequently dropped by for some nectar in the feeders right outside the window. The location on Bainbridge was convenient too and we took advantage of the nearby ferry for trips in to Seattle (our first time there). Deb is a thoughtful, warm generous hostess who really thought of everything and more to make our stay amazing. We can't wait to come back!

Cozy Thanksgiving

  • 5 of 5

This was our 2nd Thanksgiving spent at the cozy cottage and once again we are so thankful we discovered this place. We got to experience rain, snow and beautiful sunshine from the deck overlooking the beautiful Puget Sound. All the special touches - wine, cheese and crackers, chocolates, a fridge stocked with some goodies - upon arrival gets everything off to a great start. Debbie is an amazing host, ensuring all is ready for arrival, and checking in to make sure all is well. The only downside of staying here is having to leave. Already planning our next trip back!

Birthday Surprise Getaway

  • 5 of 5

I planned this trip as a birthday surprise for my wife and impromptu getaway for our two girls. Our eldest daughter was preparing to send out college applications for the following fall semester so I wanted to spend some much needed family time together before she goes off to college. My wife and I love the Seattle and Bainbridge Island area and naturally it was my first choice when I began planning our trip. I chose Debbie's Cozy Cottage because of the reviews, photos, and great customer service we got. Debbie was so thoughtful and caring that she made our trip the most memorable family vacation we have had in a long time. The cottage is nicely appointed and stocked with everything you would ever need. From the bottle of wine to the supplies for the outdoor fire and s'mores, no detail was overlooked. We can't wait to go back and spend time at "our" South beach Cozy Cottage. Thanks again Debbie!

Gem in the Woods by the Sea

  • 5 of 5

I have read all the previous reviews and found all to be true. Words cannot describe how comfortable our stay at the cottage was with thoughtful details from the owner that exceded our expectations. I have stayed at many vacation rentals and this would have to be my #1 pick. Kudos to you Deb, I hope this place stays available for a long time, I might just be returning.

We fell in love with the 1912 cottage that has been through a few remodels over time, including ours. It is quaint and cozy, and enjoys some of the most beautiful vistas of Mt. Rainier, the water, and maritime traffic on the island. You'll absolutely love it here.
