Overview

Gatlinburg Lodge Rental Photos and Description

In-Law/honeymoon suite seperate from main house with it's own hot tub and deck

Our personal six bedroom mountain escape is the perfect place for family gatherings or weddings. The main house features 5 bedrooms, 4 kings with in suite baths, one with two queens; home theater and full game room with pool table and multicade game (with 60 games on it); three gas fireplaces; deluxe kitchen with stainless steel KitchenAid appliances, large pantry room, two double stainless sinks, and granite countertops; loft/library area fully equipped with games and over 500 books; two spacious levels of decking with fantastic views of the National Park, especially Greenbrier Mountain; hot tub; flat screen TVs throughout with DISH Network; WiFi. Separate beautiful honeymoon studio apartment has small kitchenette, king size iron bed, private deck and hot tub with amazing views.

Built on five acres of hardwood forest, the property faces east for fabulous sunrises and moon rises over the mountains. All you can really see are mountains and trees in the summer; when the leaves fall, you can see several vistas of the Little Pigeon River sparkling below. You can always hear the river, hence the name of this neighborhood Riversong. Greenbrier Mountain Lodge is at the end of a private road and gated, but offers parking for 20 cars. The private road is the perfect short walk for after dinner or after a nap! A more ambitious walk would take you down to the river and back up. Occasionally a car may pass you. The location is great because although it feels as though you're really out in the mountains, you're only 10-15 minutes from all the activity and fun of Gatlinburg, and a half hour to Pigeon Forge, the shopping outlet malls, and Dollywood. Plus, it's back roads to any of those destinations, meaning no sitting in traffic, which can be a big deal around here during busy times! Highway 321 is two miles from us here and connects to Gatlinburg to the west and to I-40 to the east.

Two miles from here is also the Greenbrier entrance to Great Smoky Mountains National Park, a somewhat undiscovered and beautiful playground featuring five miles of road for walking and biking, numerous hiking trails, and river for swimming, tubing, fishing, painting! Also close by is the Arts and Crafts Community, an 11-mile loop of local artisans and galleries with unique shopping opportunities.

This home is very comfortable, designed for family and friend reunions and retreats. There are plenty of spaces to relax alone, or for smaller groups to chat. Of course, everyone likes to hang out in the kitchen, and this kitchen is true to that mission! Except when you choose to grill out, then you might find all the rocking chairs full.

You cross a bridge over the river to enter the subdivision -- we always sigh and are grateful to be returning to our sanctuary. The subdivision has a 24 hour surveillance camera on all vehicles coming and going for your security. Greenbrier Mountain Lodge has a full ADT security system for your added comfort.

About Pam Burnup, Property Manager

We built this home with the idea that we would live in it a year or two and then turn it into a nightly rental. Well, seven years later, we can say that we have loved every minute here and are now excited to share it. We were the general contractors for the property and you will notice the many extras and upgrades, from the hand-carved dogwood blossoms in the mantel above the fireplace, to our lovely premium lighting, to the rose bushes out front. This property is meant to be a vacation lodge and we are moving on to other ventures!

Pam Burnup, Property Manager purchased this lodge in 2006

Why Pam Burnup, Property Manager chose Gatlinburg

We lived in a home in Pigeon Forge for 12 years and were building rental chalets for sale here in Riversong and also on Ski Mountain in Gatlinburg. When our neighbor in Pigeon Forge made us an offer on our farm there, we decided to build a house here. We own four lots, about five acres, and at the end of the road as it is, we have great privacy and magnificent views.

What makes this lodge unique

We call it the 'mountain movie' -- just sitting on one of our decks and watching the magnificent vista. In summer, all you see is trees and mountains, the soaring hawks and ravens; in winter, you see the river below, sparkling silver and gold, and another cabin or two in the distance. The Greenbrier entrance to Great Smoky Mountains National Park is eight minutes drive, and we love hiking, biking, and swimming there. Gatlinburg is but 15 minutes total, with all the great restaurants and fun things to do there. This location allows you to slip in and out the 'back' ways to Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Sevierville, avoiding seasonal traffic.

My Gatlinburg Wedding

  • 5 of 5

We planned on getting married in Gatlinburg and we were using the cabin for our reception. It worked out perfectly. We had enough bedrooms for our adult children. Our guests that arrived loved the property. also locals that had lived in the area for a long time who picked up tables and chairs were taking selfies of themselves because of the spectacular view. When we arrived a beautiful bouquet of flowers were waiting for us with a special gift and card congratulating us on our upcoming wedding. We also asked for assistance in having someone serve at the wedding and Pam provided us names of people and it was for a Friday night and pretty much last minute. The only change I would make would be to have had the wedding at the cabin site.

Amazing cabin

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was even more beautiful in person! It was absolutely perfect for our big family. There were 12 of us gathering for my father-in-laws 80th birthday. My in laws took the private suite and the rest of us divided up in the main house. The arcade, pool table and hot tub were a hit for the kids (ages 3,4,7,12). I didn't mind a bit sitting out on the deck supervising the kids in the hot tub and enjoying the gorgeous view. This house had plenty of space for everyone. It was very luxurious and the family was very happy with our choice. For anyone with younger kids, there isn't a yard to play in (literally on the side of the mountain). The front is the drive way and the back is a slope going down the mountain. The 3 younger ones were happy playing in the drive way area because there were rocks and some woods. We even went down to the entrance and enjoyed the river. We were all perfectly happy relaxing and hanging out at the cabin and enjoyed walking the trails just down the road. We would definitely stay in this cabin again!

Owner's Response: Michal, Thank you so much for the great review and especially pertaining to kids and their entertainment. Even though we have so many shows/activities in this area for them it gets expensive. Nice to be able to just stay at the lodge and have things to do. Looking forward to your return visit. Pam

Early March Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

This house and the view are spectacular! This was an incredible experience for our family of 7 adults and 7 kids. The owner was the most accommodating person I have ever worked with. You could tell from her voice the excitement that she has for this property, knowing how much each family is going to enjoy their experience. The open concept truly keeps this a family-like atmosphere. The multiple master bedrooms really made it comfortable for the entire group. From age 3 to age 70, we all enjoyed the theater room, the pool table, the video games, the hot tub, the grill, the rocking chairs on the deck, and most importantly, the unparalleled view. We would stay at this place again and again. It was clean, well manicured, up-to-date, had great amenities, and was a very reasonable drive to the area attractions. This is the house where you want to stay and this is the owner with whom you want to work.

Anniversary Surprise

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful cabin with beautiful views. Thirteen of us gathered to celebrate a 50th wedding anniversary (it was a surprise for the wife). It was the first time the entire family had vacationed together and we chose the perfect spot. The kids loved the pool table and hot tub, while the adults enjoyed the views and space. The cabin has everything you could ever need while, including some appliances (like a crock pot!) that other rentals don't. The extra space in the butler's pantry kept the clutter to a minimum in the main kitchen/living area. Watching the fog come and go over the mountains was so relaxing. We will definitely keep this cabin in mind for future vacations.

We hosted our family reunion here in 2010 and our activity list for the week included: Dollywood, Ripley's Aquarium in Gatlinburg, hiking to Alum Cave, bicycling the 11-mile loop through Cades Cove (1 hour drive), whitewater rafting out of Hartford (45 minute drive; we booked through Nantahala Outdoor Center in Gatlinburg); swimming in the river at the Greenbrier, golf at Bent Creek, shopping at Tanger Five Oaks Outlet Mall, a day on a pontoon boat at Douglas Lake (35 minute drive to Gator Point marina, pontoons available for rent), dinner at either (or both) The Peddler and The Park Grill, lunch outside on the patio at The Best Italian, live music at Three Jimmies, an evening walk though downtown Gatlinburg, and other fun!! We only got most of that list done, because everyone wanted to stay home, have big barbecues, and play games and guitars of an evening. It was a blast.

Although we are closest to Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Pigeon Forge is a short drive on the back roads and offers amazing fun for kids of all ages, a great choice of restaurants, movie theater, and tremendous shopping. Of course, it is home to the amazing Dollywood and Splash Country, the adjacent water park.

While Bent Creek Golf Resort is just 10 minutes from the house, there are other excellent courses in Sevier County, including the Gatlinburg Golf Course (located in Pigeon Forge!), and Eagle's Landing, in Sevierville.

Notes:
For a wedding or family reunion, we refer to it as the 'Honeymoon Suite' because the happy couple (or parents -- or grandparents) can have a luxurious private retreat of their own, while other guests/family members stay just steps away. Many people choose to get married by the river in the Greenbrier, just a few minutes' drive, but here in the house, or on the deck, or under the decorative carport out front would work as well. For those who love the Smokies, and all things river, there is so much to do! Trout fly fishing, tubing, swimming in the summer is heaven! The Greenbrier entrance to Great Smoky Mountains National Park is an amazing place with lovely roads to walk and hiking trails to see old settlers' walls, wildflowers, and waterfalls. When our friends and family visit, a lot of time is spent just sitting in the rocking chairs on the deck and enjoying our 'mountain movie.' Then we'll get motivated and go whitewater rafting, or shopping, or to dinner in Gatlinburg!
