Overview

Camano Island Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Private Sanctuary On 450' Of Low Bank Puget Sound Waterfront

This is a 5 acre compound on 450'+ of pristine Puget Sound waterfront, featuring the only private dock on Camano island. Abundant sea and wildlife include some of the best crabbing in Puget Sound (in season from 7/1 through Labor Day), clamming on our own beach, fishing off the dock or out front in Elger Bay, daily bald eagle, deer, otter, and grey whale sightings (whales in late winter!). Beachcomb for miles along a beautiful shoreline, enjoying views of Mt. Rainier, the Olympics, Hat and Whidbey Islands. Main house is 3 bedrooms, including a bunk room with two full and two twin beds, plus two additional twin mattresses that can be used for kids, and queen beds in the other rooms, plus a separate guest house with one queen bed, living room, and full bath (perfect for grandma and grandpa). Extra bunks in the 'bunkhouse' which is a finished garage space on the bulkhead (no bathroom though but the kids love it). Enjoy days exploring the five acres (look for the hidden rope swing!) and adjacent Camano Island state park, boating, kayaking and canoeing (with our boats), swimming (brrr!), clamming, crabbing and fishing, then retire around the enormous seaside firepit to cook s'mores and tell ghost stories.

Off Season (October 15 through May 15) the main house only is available at a rate of $150/night for weekdays, $225/night Friday and Saturday. We have a caretaker in the lower guest house for the winter. Also, the floating portion of the dock is not in the water during the winter months.

About Gordon Stephenson

I grew up spending my favorite weeks in the summers at my family friend's cabin a few miles north of the Honeycomb Hideout and always dreamed of having a place of my own. Our family, along with a close friend and his family, discovered this legacy property a few years ago and we are so fortunate to have been able to made this dream a reality.

Gordon Stephenson purchased this cabin in 2009

Why Gordon Stephenson chose Camano Island

Once you drive through the private gate into the neighborhood and drive down the hill to the waterfront, you'll know immediately why this is such a special spot. There are no immediate neighbors, and the privacy and seclusion is amazing. With four bedrooms and another bunk area, there is lots of room for two or three families and lots of kids. And the access to the beach, along with the dock, is something that is really rare and special in such close proximity to Seattle (only an hour's drive and about 60 miles from town).

What makes this cabin unique

The size of the property, the sweeping lawn, and the dock and low bank, accessible waterfront are all rare qualities in an island property. We love it on Camano!

Excellent vacation spot for crabbing/clamming and kids

  • 5 of 5
We stayed in the main house only and had a wonderful vacation. The kids enjoyed board games and movies when it was too cold to be outside. The crabbing, clamming and fishing was fun for everyone. The house felt like home and is in a great location. The entire transaction, communication, and visit were flawless. We will be making this a yearly family vacation spot. Very enjoyable and relaxing for all!

Best Time Ever

  • 5 of 5
This place was awesome! We had a family gathering. (mini family reunion here) It was perfect. My immediate family and mother stayed in the house and quest house and some others camped in the state park which is just around the bend. Lots of room and lots to do. We loved the visits from resident otter family, visiting seal and bald eagle. The canoe and kayaks were so fun to use as well as the ping pong tournaments. My brother who lives close by was able to dock his boat and we had delicious fresh crab daily as well as fresh clams right from the beach. Gordon the owner is great and easy to contact. I can't say enough about this place, It was PERFECT!!!!!

ideal family place

  • 5 of 5
Multiple families converged on this location for a wedding nearby. This place had plenty of room for all of us, including 5 kids. Everyone found something to do from canoeing, clam digging, walking on the beach, or sitting on the deck reading or socializing. If I have the opportunity to return to the area, I will stay here if available.
The grounds were beautiful and well kept, the renter was very easy to work with, and the instructions were clear. I highly recommend this rental.
Only comment, the 3rd bedroom in the main house has 2 full/twin combo bunks which limited the number for sleeping since we did not have the heart to put an adult in with 5 kids. Depending on the group this can be worked around. We found the bedding better accommodates 12.

great home, great location

  • 5 of 5
We had such a great time. 3 adults, 7 children and a dog. A very comfortable home located at this great beach with gorgeous view. What a way to wake up in the morning. Loved the privacy. There was so much to do for the kids. They had a blast. The grass field was great for their sport activities in between exploring the beach and the hike in the forest. Special treat were the bald eagles.

Wonderful Elger Bay Get-A-Way

  • 5 of 5
What a terrific spot! I'm tempted to keep it a secret! It is as advertised, plus some. We pulled into the driveway area on Friday afternoon and didn't step foot in the car until we left Monday morning. We brought our own food and had everything else we wanted/needed. The property is private which was great for allowing the kids and dog to run & play freely without worrying about disturbing the neighbors. We used the kayaks to further explore the bay which is terrific for the kids & dog at low tide. We fished for crabs and dug for clams! We had clam chowder back home for a week. We had so much fun at this property we never made it over to the state park which can also be reached easily from this location. On other visits to a nearby property we've seen whales, sea lions, and bald eagles. This time we were entertained by the otter family. What a treat! We will be returning!

Perfect getaway near the hustle and bustle of Seattle

  • 5 of 5
Our family of 13 (6 adults and 7 kids) were quite comfortable at this quiet retreat on the water. Grandparents loved the small apt above the boathouse and kids enjoyed the bunk room, while parents each enjoyed a room with a comfortable queen bed and a view. We woke each morning to the view of the bay and the sea breezes. We enjoyed the wildlife. We saw two deer walk out from behind the little cabin for a walk along the beach. We saw an otter and several seals on the dock, along with many eagle sightings. We hiked along the beach, both directions at low tide and up the killer hill driveway for a good workout. The state park trails are nice and close, too.
We enjoyed having 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a great kitchen, laundry facilities and a fireplace. In addition, although not why we went, we were pleasantly surprised to find Wifi and Netflix.
We selected this place, as it was between Seattle and Bellingham. We were able to take a bus/train into Seattle for the day for sightseeing and we were relatively close to Bellingham, where we had a family wedding.
We would definitely recommend the cabin and the communication between own and renter was very good!
Thank you!
