Welcome to tranquility! Step back in time on Anderson Island, virtually unchanged in the past several decades.
Watch brilliant sunsets and eagles soar over the calm waters of south puget sound, which are perfect for kayaking (available for rent on the island), standup paddle boarding, and even swimming during the hot summer months. Wake up to orcas, porpoises, seals and otters splashing in the sound, and deer walking the beach.
If you enjoy the simple beauty of nature, glorious sunsets, collecting sea shells and finishing the day with s'mores by the fire, this is the place for you.
Our rustic cabin, which has been used by our family for generations, is not luxurious, but it is cozy, comfy, and boasts beautiful views of the sound and is surrounded by an enormous lawn, perfect for family activities (and tent camping). There are two bedrooms: the master with a queen bed and full bathroom with shower. The second bedroom has twin beds, which can be pushed together to create a king. There is a second full bathroom with tub. The cozy living room with breathtaking views of sound has a gas fireplace and pullout queen sofa. The kitchen has all the essentials for cooking, a breakfast bar, table/chairs, and the outdoor fire pit is perfect for roasting s'mores. There is a gas bbq out on the deck, along with picnic table and umbrella.
Our grandparents purchased this property in the 70's and now four generations have enjoyed this special waterfront cabin. We've only just started renting it out so that others may enjoy it too.
Jed Smithson & Andrea Blanken purchased this cabin in 1976
sunsets and tranquility
From the Private Drive going down to this Charming Cottage we knew we had made a good choice. Walking through the front door we felt the presence of a Loved home with many cherished memories and the true sense of being. We awoke to playful seals and the occasional soaring eagle. We later went for a light row along the shoreline and the watchful seals. We could explore great distances on foot of beach with no worries of encroachment on others private property. After the adventures we'd come back to a fully equipped kitchen which made it nice to make meals and not worry if we had packed the salt and pepper :) Even the medicine cabinets were stocked with the basics. A fun lawn game was also furnished.
The unobstructed, 180 degree view at night of the mainlands twinkling lights from afar were spectacular. And to have a little fire right next to us was just so perfect. I guess mainly overall this property just made us feel warm and right at home but away from it all. I say us...meaning my fiancee, mom and our four legged companion. But would suggest it to All if you just want a little Peace.
We can't wait to go back...Thank you to the responsive owners for offering this little peace of Heaven.
Thank you for sharing this amazing getaway cabin with us! Exceeded our expectations in every way. The house- just right for a family of 4- was clean, comfortable, equipped with everything we needed, and so homey. Our whole family (mom, dad, kids 7 & 15) could not believe how beautiful this place was. Glorious beach, clear water, colorful stones, salty air! Our youngest even wrote a poem about it. We came home feeling like we had spent a week in the Mediterranean. The owners have done a fabulous job with the house (and are responsive and helpful, too), and the amazing beachfront setting does the rest! We miss it already!
Part of me wants to give this 1 star so We can keep this gem of a cabin our little secret. Everything about this cabin was perfect and as advertised. The kitchen was well appointed and the bedrooms were super comfortable. The views from the living room and deck are amazing. We enjoyed the easy access to the beach and show the harbor seals put on for us each day. At one point we counted 4 harbor seals playing about 100 yards off shore. I could go on and on about the wonderful time we had at the cabin. Just know if you are considering renting this cabin you simply will have the most relaxing and wonderful time possible. I also wanted to mention that the owners were so friendly and pleasant to deal with. Very refreshing indeed!
We will indeed return many many times.
