About Mary Or Emery Korpi

We love the North Fork and have rented various homes over many, many summers. When the opportunity to purchase this lovely cottage came our way we couldn't resist. We are Long Island natives who love the out of doors. My husband is a competitive kayak racer and avid fisherman. I enjoy a good book, time spent in nature, especially by the water and a delicious meal with family and friends whether prepared at home or at one of our favorite restaurants. While we currently reside in Nassau County our goal is to retire to this cottage in a few years. We're happy we can share its natural peace and beauty with you.

Mary Or Emery Korpi purchased this bungalow in 2013

Why Mary Or Emery Korpi chose Laurel

The perfect combination of waterfront - with no risk of flooding! - surrounded by nature. Close enough to encourage healthy walking and biking to the magnificent Peconic Bay. Kayaking right out of our back yard and bird watching from every window and all 3 decks!

What makes this bungalow unique

Wonderful outdoor space combined with cozy yet open plan cottage. We really enjoy relaxing on the deck and watching the water birds fishing in the creek. Osprey circling above - great white egrets wading through the creek at low tide - geese, ducks and swans swimming

by while we watch through the large windows with great views.

Wonderful

I came up to ny to visit my 2 daughters and grandson for my birthday. We stayed 2 nights at the cottage. It had everything we needed. The location is beautiful. My daughter and grandson went kayaking. We enjoyed swans, great blue heron, egrets, geese fly low along the creek.
Thank you Mary!

Perfect get-away. Loved the location and the personal touches, particularly the lovely welcome basket and the information book. The bird life is beautiful and watching the creek tide go in and out is more entertaining than you might think. Thanks for a lovely stay Mary!

excellent experience

  • 5 of 5
Just stayed there this weekend with my sister, brother in law and their two teen age boys. Everything was perfect. The place was meticulously clean, well furnished, comfortable, and ultra relaxing. Everything you need has been thought of. We felt like we were guests instead of renters. Loved the location and eveything about it. Nice kayaks that the boys used to go out in the estuary and explore at high tide. They did it at low tide also but you have to be pretty determined to do that! Sitting on the back deck, having cofee and watching the great blue heron fish was the perfect way to start the day. Just a great getaway.

Owner's Response: We do treat each family as our guests and are so pleased when people enjoy the unique characteristics of our cottage - with relaxing views of the creek's flowing tides and waterfowl to observe in their natural habitat from the comfort of our deck. Kayaking off the dock is one of the best ways to relax surrounded by nature -a tide table is posted on the refrigerator so our guests can plan for an easy paddle both up into the estuary and out to the bay. Glad your week end exceeded your expectations - keep us in mind the next time you visit the North Fork.

Our stay in Laurel north fork

  • 5 of 5
Our owner was a delight to deal with and offered so many extras such as kayaks, bikes, croquet, a water slide, hammock plus two grills, gas and charcoal, i'm sure i'm forgetting things. When we got there everything was clean and welcoming. The towels were sensational very abundant and wonderful condition. The location was great for us. We had two kiddies so we didn't eat out that much.no dishwasher but that was never a problem. We could have used sharper knives and a few more rubber spatulas. Pots and pans more than adequate. I can wholehardily recommend this listing. I think it will be wonderful in the early fall when the grapes are ripening and the pumpkins are ready. We visited the vineyard at baiting hollow and saw the rescue horses. Harbes farm and vineyard and wine tasting was great and the kids loved seeing the baby goats.hallocks for homemade Semolina bread.
Enjoy!

Owner's Response: We are glad you enjoyed your stay. I admit to being a bit apprehensive at having a professional chef such as yourself in our basic kitchen but it seemed it worked out fine. Glad you got to enjoy some of the unique aspects of the North Fork. There certainly are year round activities for couples and families to enjoy. We look forward to your next visit.

Perfect Vacation!

  • 5 of 5
Literally the PERFECT location with something for EVERYONE. I stayed at this cottage recently for my boyfriend's birthday with family. We were a short walk to the beach or a short drive to other very clean beaches (less than 5 mins) and all of the wineries and restaurants that we wanted to check-out were easily accessible. The food in the area is delicious (Love Lane Kitchen, North Fork Table and Inn + their lunch food truck). The house itself was great and exactly what we wanted. The back deck makes this cottage one of the best places I have ever stayed. It's so relaxing and serene to sit out there and listen to the wildlife and the creek out back. Everything is so clean and beautiful we could not have asked for a better experience.

The cottage is VERY well kept and clean. We had everything we needed at our fingertips and Mary and Emery were excellent hosts.

We definitely fell in love with this place and would recommend it to all! You will not be disappointed. We now plan to make a trip to the North Fork at least once a year!

Oh! Make sure to check-out the outdoor shower as well, it's a bit intimidating, showering outside, but if you feel adventurous I highly recommend it, it was pretty awesome!

Fun showering while watching the swans swimming by in the creek.
Our cottage is truly the perfect combination of country living just a short drive away from upscale restaurants and vineyards galore.
We take great pride making our guests feel welcome and comfortable in a clean cottage with all the basics provided.
