We stayed her for 15 nights and it is just simply wonderfrul. Everything and more you could wish for, the view is stunning, the restaurant down the road ( st kathleens is the best), the air con works, the pool is great, this is the nicest of the few properties that surround it, only slight downside is the road noise from behind but this is more than made up for in the villa and its amenities. Great for spending a morning on the veranda having a leisurely breakfast and listening to the call to prayer, looking at the sea or the mountains, and hearing the local goat herder.
The jasmine at the front is stunning and smells wonderful. Would return tomorrow if we could
Property clean, as described and would highly recommend. Ive put august 2014 but it was august 2013
We had a lovely two weeks in Villa Donatello (VDT), a very comfortable villa in a good location, a short walk from Alagadi Turtle Beach. The booking and travel arrangements went very smoothly. (If you have any concerns, about booking via this website, do speak to the owner (contact details on site) as you will then be reassured. ) We flew into Larnaca (there are other flights via Turkey etc) and had a Sevener taxi drive us into TRNC to the villa, where the hire car was waiting for us – it was all very smooth and professional (thank you Derek & Denise).
Our favourite places included sun rise at Alagadi Turtle beach; the Karpaz Peninsula especially the Eco lodge in Dipkarpaz and Golden Sands Beach; Bellapais Monastery (& Deidre’s place up the hill: Gardens of Irini), St. Katleen’s restaurant in village; LEFKOSA & NICOSIA (always fantastic!), Vouni, Farmagusta ghost town (Varosha), and of course, VDT … I could go on, and we hope to return to VDT & TRNC ☺
PS Weather was great so we used the well-maintained pool a lot! Thank you once again :)
This was our second time to Northern Cyprus, first time to villa Donatello which certainly exceeded all expectations.
Villa Donatello is very relaxing, comfortable, spacious, well equipped & tastefully done - one of the nicest we've ever stayed in. The pool; always clean & inviting. The panoramic views are absolutely stunning. The smell of Rosemary & Jasmine that greets you on the way up the stairs to the villa, (especially in the evenings) pleasantly surprises every time. The beautiful array of plants & flowers around the villa - definitely the best garden in the village. The lizards there are so many, always there, they never cease to amaze. Poppy the stray cat - please look after her-but watch out she gets right under your feet!
We would recommend…
You definitely need a car as there are no shops supermarkets close by. We would recommend Servener for Taxi transfers and car hire: email@example.com
The turtle project - literally on the doorstep- you need to phone at 12 (be persistent keep calling you'll get through in the end) to book a place for 20.00 or 22.00. Releasing baby turtles into the sea, was very informative & magical, the young students are doing such a fantastic job tel: 05338725350
Favourite Restaurants / takeaway
Bella Moon in Bellapaise - will not disappoint. Our favourite by far, second year running. A family run business, great setting, very good consistent food & service.
Levant in karmi , good food, service & setting.
Hurma, good food & service
Remzi's esentepe village, family run, great setting & service
Benoz, good consistent food, family run, friendly service
Turtle paradise restaurant & bar, good food, friendly service & free internet/Wi-Fi ( villa Donatello has a dongle/ pay as you go, which can work out very expensive especially if you rely on it for work & have teenagers)...
Saltys fish & chips
The furthest Turtle Beach going towards Esentepe, (after Turtle Paradise Restaurant & Bar) look for brown sign on the left of road, approx 3 miles way
Beach behind Blue Dream supermarket Esentepe
Escape Beach if you want paragliding, jet-skying, banana boat etc. can be quite expensive for family but worth it
Golden beach, karpaz
Main question is would we go back? Would we recommend?
YES WE WOULD
We had a great holiday, probably one of the best.....
Thanks so much Derek, Jo, David, Denise and Andy for making our holiday so special

What a fabulous trip. We had a wonderful time in this clean spacious, well-equipped villa. Organisation is smooth and efficient by people who seem to genuinely care that you have a good time-and we did! Always there if you want them- even leave a mobile and their number so that you can contact them!
The villa is raised above the village, so beautiful views to mountains and sea and a breeze to cool you on the hottest days. The pool is wonderful- spent many hours in there whilst inhaling jasmine scent and watching geckos and lizards run up the walls. The snorkelling is also good-we saw bearded fireworms for the first time! Turtle releasing is a must from the information centre 5 minutes walk away. A unique experience! Supermarkets and Girne Harbour are only a few minutes drive away if you feel the need for other people...we were happy with our own company and the mountains most of the time. A drive to Buffavento and also the mountain visitor centre is a must- the sound of the cicadas was deafening- and to think they only live for 24 hours as an adult beetle then die- poor things- they deserve to be heard!!
I have no hesitation in recommending this villa- just wish we were in the position to return. However, we now have our memories-thank you! xx
The last time we were at Donatello was June 2013 it was our 3rd visit , and it never disappoints, to begin with it had everything you would need for a relaxing holiday in the sun , but the owners are always thinking of ways to improve your experience, one example this year is the addition of WIFI, if you need to keep in the 'loop'. Everything is clean and well maintained , including the pool where the water is always spot on , the owner to customer care makes the holiday worry free, you can just relax, and absorb the peaceful village location, Restaurants are just ten minute walk , we prefer BENOZ, good food, very pleasant surroundings, really nice family who run it , various types of cuisine available on road to Kyrenia, very nice Thai restaurant 15 mins by car called the Bow Thai, for example. Can't wait for September ......for our fourth visit. Tom Richards & family , North Wales
Just returned from a 2 week holiday at Villa Donatello. We regularly rent villas for our holidays and this was the best by far. The booking process with Derek is so easy as is the transfer and car hire booking with Denise, neither can do enough for you and are so helpful and knowledgeable.
The villa is so comfortable and everything has been thought of, there are lots of lovely little extras too. The beds and pillows are so comfy with good quality bed linen and towels. The kitchen is well equipped and there are plenty of books and dvds. There is also lots of helpful information there about the villa and places to visit.
The patio and pool area are very private, the pool has a shallow end too which a lot of villas don't have. It is in the sun all day but there is shade if you want it.
The beach is less than 10 mins walk and has a café and WCs, it is a lovely beach and was peaceful and quiet. There are 3 restaurants in the village all less than 5 mins walk and plenty to chose from up on the top road if you don't mind driving.
If you can pull yourself away from the pool there are lots of lovely places to visit and driving about is really easy and safe.
We have recommended the villa to friends and we will definitely be going back.
Alagadi is a small village situated about 15mins drive east of Kyrenia. Turtle beach is a 4/5 minute walk down to the sea and over to the right, and is the first ‘real’ beach on the coast east of Kyrenia, famous for the turtles which lay their eggs there during May/June. There is a snack bar on the beach for refreshments. The small single storey building with a turtle painted on it and visible from the villa on the outskirts of the village, is the local conservation group’s headquarters.
There are a couple of excellent restaurants in the village offering both local and 'European-style' food and wine at very reasonable cost. The staff are very friendly and welcoming.
Benoz's restaurant on the right hand side of the road as you enter the village, serving great mezze, fish and kebabs.
St. Kathleen’s restaurant is straight down in front of the villas, again serving great mezze, fish and kebas. People from all round the area come to both restaurants, especially for Sunday lunch.
Golf: 5 minutes drive from Alagadi situated on the coast at the foot of The Five Finger Mountain range near Esentepe, the prestigious Korineum Golf & Country Club is proud to be the first 18 holes golf course in North Cyprus. Carved from a natural forest of Umbrella Pines and Olive trees, amongst others, with stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea on one side, and breath taking views of the famous Five Finger Mountain range on the other, this makes for a truly memorable experience you will never forget.
